Selena’s POV

“Cullen!” I yelled as I pushed the bathroom door wide open without thinking.

The steam hit me first, then the sound of water dripping, and then—oh sweet moon goddess—Cullen’s naked ass wiggling in front of me.

I froze. He was literally shaking his ass, like some idiot dancing in the shower.

“What the heck, Selena!” Cullen shouted, spinning around and grabbing for a towel way too late. His hand flew down to cover his… you know.

“Oh my god!” I slapped my palms to my eyes, nearly dropping my phone in the process. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—oh god, oh god, my eyes are burning—”

Cullen groaned, his voice sharp. “Why the hell are you barging in here? I could’ve been—”

“I know, I know!” I waved one hand around blindly while still covering my face. “But this is serious, Cullen. Look!” I shoved my phone out in his direction, peeking through my fingers just enough to point the screen at him. “Please, I need your help!”

He muttered something under his breath, probably cursing m

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 119

Selena’s POVThe white world didn’t stay white for even two seconds.Nope.It shook, twisted, then cracked open like someone smashed a giant egg with a hammer.A loud snap! echoed everywhere and BOOM—everything broke apart again. But this time it wasn’t little pieces. No no no.These were massive memory chunks flying around like floating islands on crack. All around me— Cullen’s battlefield.Rowan’s dark room.Ava’s field of flowers. My old forest.A lake.A tower.A full hall of wolves. It was like someone hit “shuffle” on our lives and threw the pieces into a storm.I didn’t even get time to scream. The floor?Gone.I started sliding down a slope made of broken sky, wind slapping my face like it had beef with me.My heart was beating so fast I swear it was trying to run faster than me.I tried to steady myself but—ha!—I stumbled immediately.“Cullen!” I yelled. “Rowan! Ava!”Nothing answered.Just the crack-crack-CRASH of memories slamming into each other while the Shadow Heir trea

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 118

Selena’s POVThe Shadow Heir’s voice shook the white space. Not dramatic. Not loud.Just sharp enough to slice the silence like a blade.“You,” he said again. And that’s when I realized—Oh.He wasn’t talking to the glowing man behind him.Nope.He was calling his wolf. His shadow wolf.Because WHY NOT, right? Why stop at being creepy when you can summon a nightmare dog too?The wolf peeled out of his back like darkness untangling itself. One step.Another step. And BAM—full nightmare mode. Its body was smoke. Its teeth were carved from darkness. Its eyes glowed like cold fire. Also, it was huge.Like “Selena-sized snack” huge.My breath got stuck. My mark throbbed. My chest tightened like it wanted to resign from its job.The glowing man didn’t move. At all.Just vibes.Just fire.No help. Thanks, sir!The Shadow Heir looked at me like it already ordered my coffin.“This is where the Caller dies.”Oh, that made something snap in me.A spark.A flame.A “I am done with this nonsense”

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 117

Selena’s POVThe cracks swallowed everything. Not politely. Not gently. Not with a soft “oops, here we go.”No.The whole world basically snapped like someone got irritated and pressed DELETE on reality. The ground tore open like ripped homework. The sky shattered like someone threw a stone at a giant glass bowl. The air twisted like it was being squeezed by a giant angry fist. And me?I dropped.Fast.Like gravity just woke up and chose violence. My hands shot out in pure panic, grabbing for literally ANYBODY—Rowan.Cullen.Ava.The guide kid.Even the creepy Shadow Heir, if it came to that. But I caught nothing.Just sad, empty air.My stomach fell to my toes.My heart climbed to my throat. And the mark on my wrist burned like it wanted to file a complaint.Then—Black.Silence.One long heartbeat.And—POOF.I landed on something soft.Very soft.Like a bed made of clouds, leaves, and maybe regret.I sat up fast, clutching my chest. The place around me looked wrong. Not scary wron

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 116

Selena’s POVThe howl was still echoing across the ruins when everything suddenly went dead quiet. Not cute, quiet. Not friendly, quiet.Nope.Creepy, chest-tightening, “something is literally breathing down my neck” quiet. The kind of quiet that made me want to scream “HELLO???” just to feel less alone. The wind cut off like somebody pressed a pause button. The mark on my wrist stopped glowing like it ran out of battery.Even the stones on the ground looked like they were holding their breath.Perfect.Just what I needed today.Cullen instantly stepped in front of me, all bossy and protective.“Stay behind me.”Rowan came to my other side, panting like he had sprinted a marathon, but still trying to act like he was the toughest guy in the universe. Ava gripped her daggers with full murder energy, like the air personally offended her.Cullen’s mother slowly turned in a circle. Her eyes were sharp. Too sharp.“He is here.”Great.Love that for us.The small guide boy—already shaking li

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 115

Selena’s pov The boy slipped out of my hands before any of us understood a single thing. One second he was standing there like a tiny glowing wizard from another lifetime…And the next—his knees just gave out.His body swayed like a paper leaf. His head tilted forward. His whole weight fell toward the ground.I didn’t even think.I dove.My arms reached for him again before he hit the floor. Tighter this time. He was light.Too light.Like holding a bundle of air wrapped in skin. His chest rose once…Barely. Then it stopped.“Oh no—hey, hey, don’t do this,” I whispered fast, shaking him a little. “Come on. Stay here. Not now. Not today. Please breathe.”We could not allow anything to happen to him now. If anything, I needed him more than I needed anyone here right now. He held the answers to whatever the chains around my hands were. Ava slid down beside me. “Put him down, Selena—his pulse is almost gone!”Cullen and Rowan dropped to their knees at the same time, both of them scare

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 114

SELENA’S POVThe ground started shaking. And then it stopped. The moment the ground stopped shaking, the whole place fell quiet. Not normal quiet. The type that presses on your chest. The type that makes the air heavy. The type that feels like the world held its breath because something had stepped into space. My wrist was still glowing. Hot. Alive. Like it had a heartbeat of its own. The ruins around us hummed, and the dust hung in the air like it was too scared to fall.I swallowed hard. I didn’t even understand what I had done—or what had answered. Then… something moved.Right from the cracked stones in front of us, something stepped out.And it wasn’t what I expected at all.Not a monster. Not a demon. Not another creepy spirit thing waiting to rip our faces off.No.A boy.A tiny boy. Maybe twelve. Skinny. Barefoot. Wearing this old brown shirt that looked like someone dug it out of an ancient box. His hair was wild like a whole forest lived in it. His skin was pale like moonlig
