Jasmine’s POV

The day I left the campus, I felt subdued.

With my bag over my shoulder, I carried two little cartons. I didn't have much, at least not enough that I would want to take. Some books, a few personal items, and clothes. I left the remainder behind like the incarnation of myself that once existed.

Students were all around, as usual. Traveling to lectures resting on seating. Grouping in small numbers. For them, life was going on as usual.

But as I passed by, I experienced the shift. Ey

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Epilogue

Selena’s POVSome years later, standing on a stage with my cap in my hands, grinning so wide my cheeks ached.Friends, families, cameras flashing, and jubilant applause echoed from all sides in the auditorium. My name had just been called, and I had steadily crossed the platform. My fingers trembled somewhat as they gave me my certificate. Not since I was anxious.Still, I recalled everything it took to arrive here.Late nights of studying as Elias slept next to me. Tasks finished between exhaustion and feedings.I sobbed tears and wiped them away before classes so no one would see my frailty.Times of uncertainty. Lonely moment. Times when I wondered whether I could complete my schooling. And now here I was, graduating.Stepping off the platform, I immediately surveyed the crowd.I saw them fast.Cullen was near the front, clapping loudly with pride lighting in his eyes. Taller now and older, Elias stood next to him with a brilliant grin as he yelled for me.My heart expanded. Cullen

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 238

Selena’s POVAs Elias stood on the ice, his little legs quivering beneath him, I watched him closely. His hands encircled Cullen's firmly. Against the big, gleaming rink, his body seemed so little. He looked scared for a moment, his eyebrows a little wrinkled as he gazed down at his skates.Cullen spoke gently and leaned close to him, letting him know he was right there and not to be afraid.Still seated on the bench, I attempted to keep cool with my hands in my lap. My heart was beating faster than it ought to have been.Skating was all that there was. Simply a minor achievement. To me, though, it seemed more than that.Elias advanced one foot gradually. The blade grated gently against the ice. Then he changed the other foot. He was slow and focused. His little face seemed serious, as though he was dragging something of great significance. His lips were sealed, his eyes straight down.I could clearly see his great effort. He stabilized for a few seconds without wobbling. My chest imm

  • A Chance With The Hockey Alpha Captain   Chapter 237

Selena’s POVBefore the sun completely rose, I awoke.Lying still in bed, I gazed at the ceiling for a few moments and smiled gently. Almost like a child being excited, my heart felt light.Today was the day. The day Elias would first attempt to skate on his own.I turned my head toward the modest bed next to ours and saw him sleeping quietly. His little chest lifted and fell gently. His curls against the pillow were a little disorderly.I felt my heart rise.It felt as though just yesterday I was cradling him as a newborn, terrified of him misbehaving. He was now eager to be independent, keen to try new things, and was growing quickly.Trying not to wake him, I slowly slid out of bed.The morning air was cool and calm. Gently, I wandered around the room and reached for his tiny skates from the closet. Barely larger than my hands, they were little.I gently packed them into a small bag. Next, I added his gloves. His helmet and one more pair of socks.I stopped and rechecked the bag.J

Whispers and drops.I knew though nobody directly told me anything to my face.I was going and they knew. They understood why. There was no formal punishment I suffered. The school board never called me in. I was clean on paper.Socially, however, I was destroyed.Friends I had thought would be with me had gradually withdrawn. Initially, they asserted they were seeking to escape conflict. Then they stopped sending me outing invitations. Eventually, they stopped replying to my tex

Selena’s POVI learned from whispers about Jake's expulsion. It was not a formal announcement. The school did not officially announce it. It showed up in gossip snippets. Two girls are chatting behind me in the hallway.A text sent in a classroom group chat. A mute verification from someone who said they knew a teacher personally.Jake has been kicked out. When I first heard it clearly, I stopped walking for a moment.I just stood there, clutching my books against my chest for a few seconds. Then my lips curled into a tiny grin.I was unable to stop it.I tried to. It happened naturally, nevertheless.First, I was overcome by surprise.Jake always moved as though he were impenetrable. Like the effects on other people were. Like he might bend every tale to his own advantage. But, he couldn't this time.Evidence this time was present. It was finally over.A little part of me was happy. Not completely.Still, enough to breathe more easily. I felt somehow though, it wasn't mercy. It was n

Jake's POVI knew the answer before they announced it. I observed it in their expressions.Papers were well organized on the table, and the disciplinary committee sat straight across from me. No one gave off a dubious attitude. Nobody seemed disoriented. Their faces were hard, already set.Still, I clung to a small thread of self-assurance. They would have me suspended for maybe a semester or two.Expulsion seemed too dramatic.Leaning back in my chair, I faked calm. My fingertips kept tightening subconsciously even while my hands rested on my thighs. The chairman cleared his throat and started reading the last report. His voice was cold and steady. He presented the results step by step.Academic misconduct traces. Financial misbehavior connected to fake documents. Several students complained of bullying and intimidation.Every line seemed weighted more than the last.I struggled to keep my cool. I attempted to stay emotionless.Something inside me sank when he finally said the word “
