Cullen’s POV

“Are you crazy?” Ava shouted at me. But it was in a whisper. Her eyes were wide. And it was as if she just heard me say that I wanted to do something wrong. Like maybe set the pack house on fire. “That could even make things worse!”

“That is the safest option right now Ava.” I said. I was keeping my voice very low. Firm too. “The Alpha gave me only five days to give him what he wants.”

“Omg.” She muttered. And she ran her fingers in her hair. “That is too short to even think of a plan that is better!”

“Exactly.” I said. “Which is why I’m not going to waste any of those days.”

She looked like she was scared. Like she wanted to argue, but she did not know how to. I stepped closer to her. “I need you to go to her wardrobe and take out some clothes for her. Just things that she can survive on. Maybe snacks too. If there is any.”

“Okay…” she said to me quietly. “But— is she never going to come back.?”

I sighed. And I rubbed the back of my neck. “Of course. She will come b

Cullen’s POVI didn’t run.I don’t even know why. Maybe because somewhere inside me. I wanted to see him too. Maybe because after all of these years. A part of me still wanted to believe that he cared about me. So I walked up to him. Then the moment that i got to him. He held me and he pulled me into a hug. So tight. So sudden. It caught me off guard.“I’ve waited for you to come home for so long, Cullen,” he said, his voice thick and low.I stood stiff in his arms. My hands didn’t even move. It felt strange — familiar, but not safe.“I— I just need your help,” I said quietly, stepping back.“Anything for you, son,” he said right away. “Let's go inside.”“No!” I snapped. “No. I don’t want to come inside. I do not want you to be all nice and sympathetic with me.” My voice cracked. More than I wanted it to be. He looked at me. He was shocked for a second. But he did not raise his voice. “Calm down Cullen.” He said it softly. “I’m just trying to bond with my son. I’ve missed you.” I

Cullen’s POVWhat the hell? That was the only thing that was running inside my mind. As I walked out of that palace. My body was still in pain. My shirt was soaked with blood. But none of that was compared to the thing that I just heard. “Only the Alpha deserves such power”It kept on ringing in my head. The Alpha was insane. Completely gone.I’d always known the Alphas were cruel sometimes, but I didn’t think this one was that crazy. For a long time, I thought Jake was nothing like his father… but now, I could see that the old man was worse. A monster with a pretty smile. They wanted to take Selena’s power. Not just use her — no, they wanted to retract it, pull it out of her, pass it down to the Alpha. And if they tried to do that? If they even touched her blood wrong… she could die.I clenched my fists so hard. There was no way that I was going to allow that to happen. Not to her. The Alpha’s voice echoed in my head, sharp and cold.“Stand up, Cullen. Brace yourself and walk out

Cullen’s POVSelena didn’t say who her grandma was. She said that she didn’t know. But she only used to see visions about her. I had told Luke not to bother her. That she would say it at her own time. Even if I hated him. He seemed kind of useful. The sun was starting to rise even after I left the infirmary. The morning air was so cold. And it was biting on my skin very softly. Selena had not eaten well since the hunt. She was still healing. Still too pale. People were saying so many things about what she had become but I did not care. I knew that she was special. And I was going to wait. I was going to make sure that she gets better and regain all her strength.I walked down the road very fast. I was going to buy fruits at the store. I heard that it would help Selena to get better after. Just when I was about to enter the store. Two guards stopped me. With the way they were dressed. I knew that they were from the alphas palace. “Cullen.” One of them called my name in a very sha

Selena’s POVThe first thing that I heard was how the machine was beeping very softly. Slow and steady. And then the next thing to hit me was the smell of herbs. And something sharp too— disinfectant. My eyelids felt very heavy. It was as if someone had used glue to keep them shut. My body was aching everywhere. When I was finally able to open my eyes. The white ceiling almost made me go blind. I blinked my eyes a few times until the light stopped hurting me. I was not in my room. And I was not in Cullen's room either. I was in the infirmary.A soft blanket was kept over my chest. And there was a bandage kept around my arm. The side of my ribs was hurting anytime that I tried to move. I groaned a little. And before I could even sit up well, somebody’s hand touched my shoulder. “Easy.” A voice said very softly. “You’re okay.” I turned my head to the person. Who else would it have been if it was not him— Cullen. His hair was messy. And there were dark circles under his eyes like

Selena’s POVThe second day of training came too fast. I can swear that my body was still paining me from what we did yesterday. My legs were hurting. My arms felt as if they were wet noodles. And I could not even open my eyes. But still, I was awake before it was sunrise. Because the Beta had said that the training that we would do today would be “special”. “Special,” my foot. Nothing good ever comes from that word. When I reached the field. The whole of the pack was already gathering there. Everyone looked as if they were half way asleep. But they still tried to look tough. The energy was not as it was the previous day. The air was thick with tension. Dominance. And pride. The stronger wolves were standing in front and they were showing their muscles off. While the weaker wolves and omegas like me were staying at the back. Trying to avoid trouble. Cullen made me stand beside him. His hair was still messy from sleep. and he looked damn too handsome for that kind of early hour.
