Leila sighed and then dropped the silks back to the bed. “It’s my job, don’t you frustrate me and tell me what to do. I will choose what I want for the Luna and you choose what color you want.” She said and then scoffed. “Too soft? I bet you don’t want her to look good tomorrow.” She added, her voice low and firm, sounding like she looked stressed.

Evelyn smirked and then raised her two hands up a little bit. “Easy, just trying to tell you my opinion.”

“I didn’t ask for your opinion. If I wanted your opinion I would have asked but I didn’t.” Leila shot back at her in anger, her voice low but sharp.

“Well, I don’t want red. I would love a creamy color dress,” Evelyn said, brushing her fingers over the fabric samples spread out on the bed.

Leila stopped what she was doing.

The iron in her stare cut sharper than any words ever could. She didn’t speak. Just looked—calm, deadly calm.

“Relax,” Evelyn added with a shrug, like she hadn’t just trampled over three weeks of planning.

SELENESilence fell like a shroud over the room.Vivian looked down at her hands.Clara shifted her weight near the door.Evelyn’s face stayed cold—but there was something flickering behind her eyes. And Leila? She looked like a girl trying to breathe through a wildfire.“Because I loved him,” Leila said suddenly, her voice cracking. “Because I still do.”I stopped.“We didn’t plan this,” she went on, her voice rising like a tide she couldn’t stop. “I didn’t go looking for Orion, Selene. I ran into him after that Council raid, when Zarek sent me out to handle patrol disputes in the north. Orion had wounded warriors. I helped them. That was the first time.”She paused, swallowing hard.“He didn’t threaten me. He didn’t ask anything of me. He just… listened. And he saw me—not as Zarek’s sister, not as some political pawn—but me.”Her eyes brimmed with tears, and for the first time, I saw her—not the stubborn girl, not the reckless one—but a broken, terrified woman trying to stand in a s

SELENEZarek turned sharply, his brows furrowing in alarm as I clutched my stomach and doubled over slightly.“Ouch,” I gasped again, squeezing my eyes shut. “My pup… it hurts—Zarek, something’s wrong…”His hands were on me in seconds. “What do you mean something’s wrong? Where exactly? How bad is it?”I shook my head, keeping the act going. “It came out of nowhere—just this sharp pain, like something twisted inside—Zarek, please.”“Selene, sit down.” His voice was firm, but his hands trembled as he guided me to the couch. “Easy. Don’t move.”I collapsed into the cushions, gripping his forearm like I was barely hanging on. His scent wrapped around me, grounding me even as guilt twisted tight in my chest. But I couldn’t let him leave. Not tonight. Not with Leila unconscious just a few rooms away.Zarek crouched in front of me, eyes scanning my face, then my stomach. His hands hovered, unsure if he should touch.“Where’s the pain now?” he asked, voice tight. “Is it sharp? Dull? Does it

SELENE“Oh my goodness, I missed my home,” I muttered as I stepped inside, the familiar scent of pinewood floors and warm hearths wrapping around me like a blanket.“Welcome, Luna,” one of the warriors greeted with a small bow.I didn’t stop walking. I waved him off, too tired to offer more, and headed straight for the dining area. My throat was dry, so I reached for a jug of water, poured myself a glass, and raised it halfway to my lips. That’s when I saw them.Evelyn. Vivian. Clara. And in their arms—Leila.“Leila?” I whispered, heart stalling. My hand lowered. I moved closer, fast. But Evelyn snapped her fingers at me, signaling urgently to shut up.I stopped. My eyes darted between their panicked faces.“What happened to her?” My voice dropped low, sharp. “Did you hurt her? How could you—”“We didn’t,” Vivian cut in quickly, almost pleading. “We would never. Leila’s pregnant. She collapsed.”My stomach dropped. “She’s what?”“She fainted right after vomiting,” Clara explained. “Vi

“You and Orion better stop playing with me,” Leila said firmly, voice low, dangerous.Evelyn smirked like she couldn’t care less. “Come on. I didn’t even know you were fucking your brother’s best friend. I only found out when I walked in and saw you two screwing in his damn room.”Leila’s eyes narrowed. “And you didn’t think to walk out?”“Why would I?” Evelyn folded her arms. “Free show. Plus, you were enjoying it. Moaning like you hadn’t touched a man in years.”Leila stepped forward. “Won’t Zarek ask you why you’re suddenly playing messenger girl between him and Orion? Why were you meeting up with him behind everyone’s back?”Evelyn shrugged. “Let him ask. At least now we’re both dirty. We’re both in shit. So as long as we both stay out of trouble, your secret’s safe with me…” She leaned in, smirking. “…and mine should be safe with you.”Leila’s jaw clenched.Evelyn’s voice dipped. “It’s not like you didn’t enjoy his dick.”Then she turned, heels clicking against the stone path, wa

Leila didn’t waste a damn second. The moment the door clicked shut behind Zarek, she stormed out from behind the hallway curtain like a woman on fire. She grabbed the nearest glass off the table and hurled it straight at Orion’s head.It froze mid-air.Stopped, dead, hovering inches from his face.Orion didn’t even blink. He just flicked his fingers, and the glass fell harmlessly to the floor with a soft clink.“Really?” he muttered.Leila grabbed another.“I said stop it,” Orion growled, low and sharp.“You think that voice scares me?” she snapped. “Who the hell do you think you are? Turning my brother’s back against his mate? This wasn’t part of the plan! What the fuck are you doing?”“I promised I wouldn’t hurt Zarek or Selene,” Orion said, calm but cold. “I never promised I wouldn’t shake the damn table.”“You’ve lost it,” she spat. “I’m done. You’ve been acting shady as hell. I’m pulling out before this goes completely sideways.”She bent down and yanked a small black bag from un

Orion let out a light chuckle that didn’t reach his eyes. “Can’t a man eat a double portion in peace?”Zarek raised a brow. “Two plates. Still hot. Still untouched. One of them has Leila’s favorite food.” He looked over slowly. “Did she come here?”Orion didn’t blink. “Leila? Your sister? I don’t really know. But you know if she came here, she’s free to.”Zarek took another step closer. “So you didn’t see her?”“I see a lot of people,” Orion replied evenly. “But not always the ones I want.”Zarek tilted his head. “I’m not in the mood for word games tonight.”“I’m not playing any.”Zarek’s eyes darkened a little, nose lifting slightly. He sniffed the air once—then again. The mood shifted. Something in his face twisted for half a second. Recognition. His voice dropped. “Her scent is here.”Orion didn’t flinch. “She might’ve stopped by earlier. I wasn’t around.”Zarek stared at him, saying nothing for a long second. The silence felt like it weighed a thousand pounds. Then he stepped towa
