I hesitated for a moment, my mind and my heart fighting a battle inside. I desperately wanted to say no, but a part of me didn’t want to disappoint him. I fidgeted with the cover of my book, my fingers fiddling nervously with the pages.
When I didn’t reply, he chuckled softly, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. He leaned in slightly, invading my personal space. His voice lowered to a murmur, just enough for me to hear him.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he said and pushed off from the desk and stood tall, his eyes sparkling with an unreadable expression. Before I could utter a word, he turned on his heel and returned to his friends, leaving me in confusion.
I sat there, still clutching my book tightly, my mind swirling with conflicting thoughts.
Had I really agreed to go to the party?
And why did my heart beat so uncontrollably when he was speaking to me?
I watched as him and his friends walked out of the room. One of his friends, Park Sunwoo, looked over his shoulder and caught me staring. He smiled slightly, his eyes filled with a knowing glimmer before he walked out the door.
I sank back in my chair still trying to understand what just happened. And why was I so affected by Kim Zayren’s presence? I knew I had to get a grip and regain my composure. After all, it was just a senior asking me to a party, right? I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart.
And then I realized the entire class was looking at me, with surprise and envy in their expressions. I shrank back into my seat, not used to this much attention.
Why did Zayren have to single me out like that? I closed my book with a resolute thump, attempting to block out the stares and whispers that continued around me.
I silently packed up my things as fast as I could, eager to make exit from this overwhelming situation. But as I stood up to leave, several girls approached me, their eyes filled with curiosity.
“Is it true you’re going to the party with Zayren?”
One of them asked, her voice filled with curiosity and a hint of envy. I fidgeted with my bag, feeling uncomfortable under their gazes.
“I’m not..” I started to protest, but another girl cut me off in disbelief.
“How did he even notice you? You never talk to anyone.” I felt hurt hearing her words, but I forced myself to remain calm.
“He was just asking because he wants everyone to go,” I mumbled, trying to get out of the situation. But those girls weren’t buying it. They crowded around me, their questions coming in rapid-fire.
“What did he say to you? Did he ask for your number? Do you think he likes you?”
I felt suffocated by their questions. I took a few steps back, my back pressed against the desk.
“I...I need to go,” I murmured in a low voice. Without waiting for a response, I dashed out of the classroom, desperate to escape the attention and questions.
The day had been exhausting, especially with the attention I received earlier. The sun began to set, as I leaned against the wall outside college, watching as the other students excitedly talked about the upcoming party.
I let out a heavy sigh, adjusting my glasses tiredly. I stood there, trying to decide whether to attend the party or not, a familiar voice broke through my thoughts.
“Why are you standing alone?” I looked up to see Park Sunwoo approaching me, a friendly smile on his face.
“Are you coming to the party?” he asked, leaning against the wall beside me. I shrugged, not sure how to answer. I still hadn’t fully decided if I wanted to go or not.
“I don’t know,” I replied truthfully. He chuckled lightly.
“You’re thinking about not going because of Zayren, right?” He whispered while leaning slightly.
“What?” I asked, taken aback. How did he know that? I fidgeted with my bag, feeling a little flustered under his gaze. He let out a small laugh, seeming to understand my reaction perfectly.
“It’s written all over you,” he explained in a gentle voice.
“You’re not quite sure how to deal with Zayren’s attention, and you’re a bit overwhelmed, am I right?” I nodded, feeling my defenses crumbling under his gentle demeanor.
“I just don’t understand why he talked to m…me out of everyone,” I confessed truthfully, still feeling confused.
He smiled, as if he knew something I didn’t.
“Zayren is... well, he’s unpredictable when it comes to girls,” he said thoughtfully.
“He’s used to everyone falling at his feet, but then there’s you, the quiet girl in the back of the room. You might have caught his attention.” I felt scared and excited at the same time hearing his words. Zayren’s attention wasn’t something I was used to handling.
“But why me?” I asked weakly, looking at him with uncertainty. He looked at me for a moment before replying.
“Because you’re different, and different things fascinate him. He’s not used to people not swooning over him like the rest of the girls here. You’re a mystery to him, and mysteries are something Zayren can’t resist solving.”
His words made me feel both special and slightly uncomfortable. I was just an ordinary girl, not someone special enough to capture the attention of the college’s heartthrob.
Kim Zayren himself seemed like a mystery to me.
“And if he solves that mystery, then what?” I asked though I was scared of his answer. He thought for a bit before speaking.
“With Zayren, it’s hard to say. He’s charismatic, charming, and let’s not forget, insanely attractive. But he’s not exactly the commitment type…” he paused for a moment and then said bluntly.
“He gets bored easily, and once he does, he moves on quickly.”
“Is there something you want to say to me?”Sarang wiped her tears quickly before standing up from the bed. She turned her back toward him and moved her hair aside.Zayren noticed her struggling with the zipper of her dress, so he stood up to help her.His fingers slowly pulled the zipper down before suddenly stopping.Sarang held her breath when she felt him go completely still behind her.“Do you like it?” she asked softly when he didn’t say anything. She turned around and saw him staring at her silently.“When you showed me your tattoo, I realized how much pain you went through just to ink my name on your skin,” Sarang said quietly. “That’s why I got your name tattooed on mine too.”Zayren looked at her deeply, almost speechless.“You didn’t have to do that, Sarang. Tattoos hurt a lot, and your skin is too delicate for something like this,” he said while gently cupping her cheeks.“If you had told me before doing this…”“I know you would’ve stopped me,” Sarang interrupted stubborn
“Rey, come here. Your papa is here,” Reynez shook his head, making Jaeyoung clench his fists.“So now you even made my son scared of me,” Jaeyoung said to Zayren, who was glaring at him because he was barely stopping himself from punching him again for calling Reynez his son.“Guards, throw him out of here,” Zayren ordered.Jaeyoung’s gaze hardened. He stepped toward Zayren, but Sarang quickly stood between them, stopping him. Jaeyoung tried not to look at her.“What do you want?” Sarang asked coldly.Jaeyoung looked away before replying quietly.“I want my family back.”Sarang stared at him in disbelief, tears gathering in her eyes, not from pity but anger.“We are not your family. You’re nothing to me, and Reynez is not your son, so leave.” Sarang said firmly.Jaeyoung grabbed her wrist suddenly, making her freeze.“You can’t do this to me. I stayed with you for years,” he said desperately.Sarang pushed his hand away and shook her head.“Because I didn’t know the truth. You lost me
“Then I can’t wait to see my gift,” he whispered before pulling her closer until she wrapped her arms around him.“Thank you so much, Zay,” Sarang whispered softly.Zayren gently lifted her chin, making her look into his eyes.“For what, love?”“For always loving me,” she answered honestly. “For accepting me exactly the way I am. I doubted your sincerity so many times, but you never gave up on us… so thank you.”Zayren looked at her quietly for a moment before shaking his head.“I know I don’t deserve this much love…” He immediately silenced her.“Don’t say that.” His gaze turned serious as he held her closer.“Before you came into my life, I didn’t even know if I was capable of loving someone this deeply. So if you receive this much love from me, it’s because all of it belongs to you. I think God made me only for you.”Sarang lowered her gaze shyly after seeing the overwhelming love in his eyes.Zayren’s gaze slowly dropped to her lips. Her breath hitched slightly as she looked at h
“Reynez, do you like your new school, baby?” Sarang asked with a gentle smile.“Yes, mamma. It’s so big and pretty,” Reynez replied excitedly.Zayren smiled seeing his son so happy. He kneeled down in front of him.“If you like the school, should we get your admission here?” he asked.Reynez nodded immediately.“Yes, appa.”Zayren’s smile widened hearing that word. Reynez still hadn’t called him “papa,” but hearing “appa” was already enough to make his heart full.“Baby, you’ll have to introduce yourself to the principal just like before, okay?” Sarang reminded him gently.Reynez nodded, but then his expression slowly fell.“Mamma… what should I say if they ask for my father’s name? Jayden or Zayren?” he asked quietly.Sarang’s eyes softened.“Rey, you already know the answer, baby. I explained it to you, remember? Zayren is your real father, and my real name is Sarang, okay?” she said with a small smile.Reynez nodded slowly.“My mother’s name is Sarang… and my father’s name is Zayre
Zayren stood there watching Sarang as she stared outside, tears continuously rolling down her cheeks. Since her mother left, she had not spoken a single word. He did not know how to make her stop, and the helplessness he felt was unbearable. He had seen her struggle before. He had seen her working day and night for her mother while managing her studies, even before he came into her life. He knew how deeply Sarang loved her mother, even when she was just a teenager. That love never changed, no matter how alone she felt. And now, seeing her like this, it was breaking him from inside. He could not understand how a mother could do this to her own daughter. A daughter who had already suffered so much in her childhood, who had always been alone. Still, Sarang never left her mother or blamed her for not being there. But the moment Sarang chose herself for once, her mother took away her right to even be called her daughter.Sarang’s vision blurred again as fresh tears filled her eyes. This ti
Zayren and Sarang both entered the hall but stopped when they saw who was in front of them. Sarang and Zayren saw Jiyeon and her father there. What were they doing here? Before he could say anything, he saw Sarang's mother there. Zayren looked at Sarang who was equally shocked as him to find them here. “Sarang,” Sarang heard her mother calling her and coming toward her but her legs moved back on their own seeing her cause then she remembered how her mother was the one who took decision of her getting married with Jaeyoung when she wasn't in her senses and who knows if her mother did that to her. Her mother stopped in front of her but her smile faded seeing the hesitation in her daughter's eyes. “Finally you come back,” Saying that her mother hugged her, making her freeze. “Who is she, appa?” Reynez asked Zayren curiously, seeing that lady hugging his mother. “She is your mamma’s mother.” Zayren replied and Sarang's mother pulled back from the hug and saw the kid staring at
“You left so quickly,” he said, his voice casual but with a hint of something in his tone. I glanced at him but didn’t respond, keeping my face neutral. He leaned back in his seat, his arms resting on the backrest, and turned to face me. His eyes were intense as he regarded me, a small smile playin
“I want you.” My heart skipped a beat, and a shiver ran down my spine. I tried to keep my voice steady, but the fluttery feeling in my stomach made it difficult. “Why me?” I asked, my voice cracking. “Why me…out of all the girls in this college?” His eyes roamed over my body. “You really have
Sarang’s POV “But...there is something else, something you should know.” My heart started pounding faster, and I swallowed hard. “What is it?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.“Well…” Sunwoo hesitated for a moment, as if debating whether he should tell me or not. Finally, he leaned in cl
