Jasmine’s POV

I stood in the sand, barefoot, staring at the waves crashing softly in the distance. The sky was darker now. The sun was setting and the stars were beginning to show one by one. Blake had moved to kit torches he had installed, the flames danced in the wind, casting a soft glow on everything and it felt like the whole world had gone quiet. There was still a bit of tension in the air even though it had been hours until Daniel left. We had been shaken by the news and Daniel's sudden appearance, but I refused to let him ruin this night. This moment belonged to us… Blake and me. I wasn’t going to let drama steal it. I turned to Blake, took a deep breath, and said,

“We’re still doing this.”

He looked at me, a bit unsure at first.

“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice was low, almost like he was afraid I’d change my mind.

“I’m sure,” I insisted, grabbing his hands. “This night is for us. Let’s take it back.”

He stared at me for a long second. Then he nodded and reached for my han

Blake’s POVI sat in the back of the car as my father drove me home from the hospital. My body was weak, but my mind was awake. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Jasmine. I saw her sitting next to me in the car that day. I heard her warning of the smell of the gas in the car. I remembered the fear when the car lost control. I remembered the truck coming towards us, trying effortlessly to pull the brakes but it was useless.I was rescued. I woke up in the hospital. But Jasmine… Jasmine was not there.I asked the officers who came to question me. I asked them where she was.One officer looked at me. He held his cap in his hands and spoke slowly.“She was not in the car when we arrived,” he said.I stared at him. “What do you mean she was not in the car? She was right there. She was sitting beside me. If you pulled me out, you should have pulled her out too.”Another officer sighed. He looked away. “It means she must have gotten out before we arrived. Maybe she tried to escape. Maybe s

Jasmine’s POVThe next morning, Blake moved around the room quietly. I watched him from the bed. He pulled clothes out of the closet and placed them neatly into the bag. His back was turned to me most of the time. I wanted to say something but the words didn’t come. I just sat there and looked at him while he zipped the bag shut.I kept thinking about what I said to him last night. I had blamed him when it wasn’t really his fault. I knew that now, but the thought of actually saying sorry made my chest feel tight. My pride stood there like a wall between us.“Ready?” he asked without looking at me.I nodded and stood up. “Yeah.”We left the hotel room and walked down the hallway. I could hear our footsteps and nothing else. No talking, no joking like before. Just the sound of our shoes against the floor. When we reached the car, Blake opened the trunk and placed the bag inside. I stood there with my hands inside my pockets, staring at the ground.I wanted to speak, but he didn’t look

Blake POV The moment that manager stepped out in that ridiculous blue suit and gave us that cold, judgmental look, I already knew where this was going."Blake… and your sidepiece… you should get a hint and leave now!" he barked, his tone sharp enough to cut glass. "Daniel is one of the supporters of this art gallery. We respect our supporters here. I do not want you two inside."I froze for a second. Did he just...? My wife? My wife, called a sidepiece?Heat shot through me. My hand slipped from Jasmine’s, and I stepped forward before she could say a word. My chest rose, breath heavy, and my voice came out louder than I intended."She is not my sidepiece!" I snapped, loud enough for people nearby to stop what they were doing. Heads turned, whispers spread like wildfire. "She is my wife! So watch your mouth. Curtail it. Or I’ll help you do it myself."I could feel Jasmine’s small hand on my arm, trying to pull me back."Blake… please," she said softly, her voice trying to calm me. "Do

Blake’s POVWe rushed out of the building together. I kept looking at Jasmine while we walked fast. My hands gripped tight around her wrist and I hastened her footstep out of the bakery to safety.“Are you okay?” I asked, trying to read her face.“I’m fine,” she said, though her voice was soft.I still didn’t trust her words. I watched her closely. “You sure? You didn’t feel dizzy back there? No pain?”She shook her head. “No… I’m fine. I just want to get out of here.”“Alright,” I said. “Let’s go to the car.”As we walked to the parking lot, I thought about maybe taking her to an art gallery nearby. She liked art, and I wanted to keep her mind off the things that were going on. I was just about to ask her when I heard a voice.“Well… look who it is.”My stomach tightened. I knew that voice. I turned, and there he was—Daniel walking toward us with a smirk, and as he passed Jasmine, he bumped his shoulder into hers on purpose.Jasmine stopped. I froze for a second, my jaw tightening. I

Jasmine POV The noise around me grew louder as I stood there. People were whispering, some were shaking their heads, and others were taking out their phones to record. I didn’t know what was going on at first, but after listening carefully, I started piecing things together from the scattered words I caught. Two women behind me were talking fast.“She’s the one,” the first one whispered, her voice low but full of excitement. “The one who ran that Ponzi scheme last year.”“No wonder the police came for her,” the other woman replied. “I heard she took millions and promised people double their money. Then she disappeared.”I blinked and turned my head slightly, pretending not to be listening but still catching every word. A man on my left joined the conversation with his friend.“And she even hired men to beat that woman with three kids,” he said in a hushed tone. “All because the woman asked for her money back. Can you imagine?”“That’s evil,” his friend muttered. My mouth fell open.

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 61

Jasmine POV I was still inside the toilet cubicle, standing in front of the small mirror behind the door. I pulled down the flush handle and then adjusted my clothes. My hands moved slowly over the fabric as I fixed the creases. I took a deep breath. My mind was running, thinking about the little scandal from earlier.I hoped it wouldn’t ruin our vacation. I didn’t want one stupid video to be the thing that made us pack up and leave. I kept telling myself it was fine, that it was nothing, but deep inside I was scared.Just then, the bathroom door swung open. I froze. I could hear heels clicking against the floor. There were three women. I didn’t look at them, but I could hear their voices clearly. One of them laughed softly. “Did you see that clip? Everyone’s talking about it. It’s Jasmine and Blake again.”The second woman’s voice came fast, defensive. “Oh, please. That video is so obviously edited. Anyone with eyes can see it. People are just looking for drama.”The third one spok
