Jasmine’s POV

I sat at my desk, checking emails, when I saw a fancy invitation card with my name written in gold. It was from Daniel. I opened and read the words. He was hosting a big gala. Some business celebration and he said it was in my honor. I blinked at the screen for a few seconds. Why would he host a gala for me?

Just then, Julia walked into my office holding a folder.

"Hey," I said slowly, still looking at the screen.

She noticed my face. "What is it?"

I turned the screen to her. "Daniel sent this. An invitation. Apparently it's a big event and he says it’s for me."

Julia raised her brows. "For you? Did you tell Blake?"

I shook my head. "Not yet. I don’t know how he’ll take it."

"You need to tell him," Julia said right away. "It’s better he hears it from you and not from someone else."

"I know," I agreed. "But you know how he gets when it comes to Daniel."

"Still, hiding it will only make it worse," she shakes her head slowly.

I nodded slowly. "Okay. I’ll tell him tonight."

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 60

Blake POV I sat there for a moment, staring at the space where Jasmine had walked off. She had been laughing just minutes ago, teasing me about the food, and now… gone. No warning. No explanation. Just a quick “I’ll be back” and she left.I leaned back in my chair and let out a slow breath. What was that about?Did I say something wrong? Was the food bad?Or maybe… maybe she saw someone she knew?Or something on her phone? My mind went through the last ten minutes of our conversation, trying to remember if I’d said anything that could have made her upset. I couldn’t think of anything. She seemed fine and even smiled and laughed at me.I stabbed a piece of steak with my fork but didn’t bring it to my mouth. My appetite had faded a little.I sighed again. Before I could think more about it, my phone buzzed on the table. I glanced down.Dad.Great. This couldn’t be good. He didn’t usually call me at night unless something was wrong.I picked it up. “Hey, Dad.”His voice came sharp thro

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 59

Blake pov We got back to the hotel, and the air between us felt softer than it had in the car. Not light, not yet, but softer.Jasmine went straight to her suitcase, pulled out her casual clothes — an oversized shirt and shorts — and crawled into them like she was ready to melt into the bed.I dropped my jacket on the chair and sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her. She flopped onto her side, head on the pillow, hair loose. For a minute, I just watched her breathing slow. Then I said, “So… you never asked why I took so long earlier.”She turned her head toward me. “What do you mean?”I leaned back against the headboard. “In the restaurant. Before everything… before he showed up. I disappeared for a while to use the restroom and I promised to be back in a jiffy.”Her eyes narrowed slightly. “Yeah. You went to the toilet. What happened?”I smirked a little. “Oh, you want to know now? I was going to tell you earlier, but you were too busy watching that mime guy not to notice your h

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 58

Blake POV I kept my eyes on Daniel. My body was ready to move, ready to step forward if he even tried to touch her again. I'd been looking for a way to teach the asshole a lesson since the stupid thing he did at his gala partyBut then I felt her hand on my face. It was warm and soft and not what I needed at this moment but no matter what I tried to shrug it off, it pulled me out of that moment of pure anger. Without thinking I turned to look at her. She didn’t say much, but she didn’t need to. Her eyes said enough.I took a slow breath. My chest didn’t feel as tight anymore. She anchored me anytime I was going to lose my shit. She always did.I lowered my shoulders a little but didn’t take my eyes off Daniel.Daniel moved his head slightly, looking between the two of us. His tone came slow, like he wanted to make sure every word hit.“I was only talking to Jasmine,” he said. “She can make her own decisions. She doesn’t need you speaking for her.”My hands curled into fists again.H

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 57

Jasmine POV I sat at the table by the window and kept looking at the door. I'd almost drowned the glass of water I had requested from the waiter before Blake excused himself to use the restroom promising to be back in a jiffy. It shouldn't have taken him more than five minutes to ten minutes at least to walk down to the rest room, make use of it, arrange himself, wash up his hands before stepping and walking right back at me. But as I checked my clock, it was past ten minutes he left. Don't ask me how I knew but I'd been counting. I decided to wait a little bit longer but now it's fifteen minutes. And I was still sitting alone. My fingers tapped the side of the glass. I picked up my phone. My thumb hovered over Blake’s name. I was going to call him and ask where he was. But something outside the glass caught my eye. A mime stood in the middle of the street. His face was painted white. His lips were black. He wore a striped shirt and a hat. He moved his hands like he was trap

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 55

Blake’s POVI watched her face light up and I swear it made my chest feel warm. Jasmine’s eyes had this shine, like the lights from the city had decided to hide inside them. I didn’t even need to ask if she was happy. I could see it.She looked at me and laughed a little. “If it’s urgent, we can ditch this and go handle your important matters,” she said softly, almost like she was ready to sacrifice this moment for me.I shook my head right away. “No. You are the only urgent thing,” I said. My voice came out firm, but I was smiling. “If my work can’t wait, then let it crash.”Her mouth fell open in shock before she started laughing, covering her mouth. “You’re crazy,” she said.“Yeah, maybe. Crazy about you.”She rolled her eyes but I could see the way her cheeks moved. She was trying not to smile too hard. We kept walking and the closer we got to the Eiffel Tower, the bigger her smile grew. It was like she couldn’t even hide it anymore. When we finally stood in front of it, she sto
