Chapter 5:

Her face sank into despair, and her eyes twinkled with fear. She grasped the bottle of water, the contents evaporating in her hands. "You are asking me to marry you?"

Her heart pounded furiously as she awaited his reply.

He tilted his head, catching a clear view of her eyes, what he had always wanted to see. The twinkling, the gaze of fear in her eyes, it made his heart warm.

"I am only telling you to take responsibility." His voice was neutral, shrill, and cold. "By marrying me."

Her eyes blared dangerously, who did he think he was? ask her to take responsibility? pathetic.

She banged the table, the voice echoing around his ear, "I am sorry, but I can't take responsibility." She lowered her head, afraid to meet his gaze.

"And why not?" His sliver like eyes lost its coldness, his fished out his phone, swiping through his logs. "Would you prefer I tell the whole world that you will only trying to attain my properties."

She widened her eyes in plain horror, he would do that? this man...
