“I was told you stood up your interviewer today.” Peter banged into Anthonio’s office.
Anthonio didn't move his gaze away from his computer. “Next time you come to my office don't bang in.”
“Oww come on man. Why didn't you go for the interview?”
“I had things to settle.”
“And it couldn't wait?”
This time, Anthonio looked at him. “It couldn't. And you should stop questioning me like that, people would mistake you for the boss.”
“Well I am your PA. But you do know we need this interview right? It would be good for this company and we need all the PR we can get.”
“I know what is good for this company.”
Peter sighed. “Yes you do. And that's why you would do the interview tomorrow.”
Anthonio raised a brow. “Without my consent.”
“Why are you acting this way man? It's my job to take care of anything related to you and see to it that you do your best.”
Anthonio chuckled. “Do my best.” He smirked and returned his gaze to his computer.
Peter narrowed his eyes at him. “Do you know you have changed a lot? After what happened five years ago, you came back a changed person.”
Anthonio’s smirk came off and his face tightened. “I don't want to talk about it.” His voice was clipped.
Peter nodded. “It's okay. But please make sure you do the interview tomorrow. I had to beg Clarissa to postpone and she said tomorrow was a good day, so by 12pm be there.” He turned to leave but Anthonio's words stopped him.
“Do you know any Neils?”
Peter stopped in his track and turned back to him. “Huh?”
“Do you know any Neils?” Anthonio asked again.
“Hmmm no. Why are you asking?”
“Do you know who is interviewing me tomorrow?”
“Does it matter? Clarissa assured me that the person is trustworthy.”
Anthonio snickered. “You can go.”
Peter hesitated for a bit then he left.
Anthonio stopped what he was doing and tapped his fingers on the desk for a moment thinking. Then he opened a drawer in his desk and brought out a burner phone. He typed in a number.
“I need you to do something for me.” He spoke to someone on the other line.
“Neils. Marley Neils. Research about her.” He listened to the other person on the line. “I don't know, it's just a hunch and Neils sounds familiar.”
“Get done with it.” The line disconnected and he returned the phone back to the drawer.

“Please have you seen Mick?” Marley asked a colleague.
“I saw him in the garage few minutes ago.”
“Thank you.” She went to the garage and saw him there. His back was turned to her and he was on the phone speaking in hush tones.
“Mick.” She called out to him startling him.
“What are you doing here?” His voice came out in a wheeze.
“I was looking for you. What are you doing here? Who were you on the phone with?”
He brushed his hair backwards and Marley thought she saw his hand shaking.
“Hmmm, no one.”
Her brows drew together. “No one?”
Mick drew her close by the waist. “You ask lots of questions sweetheart. Why were you looking for me?” He buried his nose on her neck and kissed her there.
“It's about our plan today. I have an interview this afternoon and I don't think I would be able to meet up.” Her eyes were apological.
“Huh?”
“I'm sorry. The interview was supposed to hold yesterday but things came up and it was shifted today.”
Mick licked his lips. “Hmm okay. No problem, we can still plan something later. Go do your work.”
“Really?”
“Yes my love. I know how Clarissa can be and I don't want you to be in trouble.”
“Ohhhh how did I get so lucky to have a boyfriend like you?” Marley said sweetly to him.
“You can reward me with a quickie now.” He devoured her lips.
~~~~~~
“Mr Kalvey is on his way.” His secretary told Marley.
They were already at the location and it felt like what happened yesterday was about to repeat itself.
“What do you mean? Do we look like a joke to you?” Marley didn't hide the irritation in her voice.
She felt like strangling this woman right here right now.
“Please have patience, he will soon be here.” Just then a limousine pulled in and a man who appeared to be the driver came out and opened the passenger door.
A sleek shoe appeared first before the famous CEO presented himself.
His presence was commanding and Marley could hear the ladies in the crew already gushing.
Her eyes roamed all over him, taking him in.
Anthonio Kalvey was truly a god. He looked like it and acted like it.
And he was still as handsome as ever.
His secretary ran to meet him and she whispered something to him. That was when he looked at her,his eyes locking with hers.
He came towards her, not once moving his eyes away from her and Marley also didn't.
“Hope I didn't keep you waiting, Miss Neils?” His
voice was a deep baritone.
Marley looked for any form of recognition from him but felt none.
He didn't recognize her.
Inside the black SUV, Rino baby kept both hands on the steering wheel as he tailed Bruno's car from a safe distance.His expression remained hidden beneath the mask.He reached for the phone mounted beside the dashboard and pressed a single button.The call connected almost instantly."Report." Peter's voice came through.Rino's eyes remained fixed on the taillights ahead."The target survived."A brief silence followed."I expected as much," Peter replied calmly. "You rarely miss.""There was an interruption.""What happened?”"He wasn't alone. A woman and two other men were with him. One of them returned fire.”Peter chuckled softly. "I suppose I underestimated Anthonio. He always manages to find allies."Rino didn't respond."Where is he now?" Peter asked."I'm behind his vehicle.""Can you finish it?"Rino glanced at the road ahead.Several vehicles had merged into traffic, making the distance between them unpredictable."Too many witnesses."Peter was silent for a moment before s
Marley adjusted the scarf around her neck as she stepped out of the car.The cafe sat on a quiet street, tucked between a bookstore and a flower shop. It was the kind of place people hardly noticed, making it the perfect meeting spot.Anthonio got out after her and glanced around before nodding to Bruno, who remained in the driver's seat."Keep watching."Bruno nodded. "Call if anything feels off."Anthonio took Marley's hand briefly."You don't have to do this if you're uncomfortable."Marley shook her head."I need answers. If Commander never sent that message, then someone used him to lure me out."Anthonio's expression hardened. "And if he did send it...""Then I'll know."They walked into the café.Only a handful of customers occupied the tables.Near the window sat Commander, dressed in plain clothes instead of his usual uniform. He looked up the moment they entered.His eyes flickered from her to Anthonio and they darkened."Neils… and Kalvey?”He immediately stood. “What is Ant
Peter lowered the phone from his ear and stared at the dark screen for a long moment.A slow smile curved his lips.Everything was finally falling into place.Taking Anthonio out of the picture would free him from every shackle and he could take back what he desired. Mandy and the company.Far better than wasting time silencing Bradford. He slipped the phone into his pocket and walked toward the liquor cabinet.The amber liquid splashed into his glass as he poured himself a drink.He swirled it lazily before taking a sip.A faint sound reached his ears.Footsteps.Peter's eyes flicked toward the hallway just as Benita stepped into the living room.She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled casually."There you are." She looked around. "I've been looking for you."Peter merely stared at her without replying.Benita walked closer. "I thought you were talking to someone."Peter took another sip from his glass."So?" he replied flatly.She laughed softly."I was only asking."
Marley watched Anthonio pace the hospital room speaking in a hushed voice into his phone then he turned to her briefly before turning away.He ended the call minutes later and came over to her.“Were they the ones?”Anthonio nodded. “Mouse called. They have gotten him.”Marley nodded. “So what now?”“We get Peter.”“How?”“Any way we can, the law… or without the law.”Marley's lips thinned but she nodded again.“The Commander… I want to know his connection to all these. I think you should meet up with him.”“And what will I do?” Marley asked him.“Question him.”Marley stared at him and Anthonio nodded.“We will make a plan.”~~~~~Mandy drove her car into the parking lot and felt her blood boiling over.She slammed her hands against the steering wheel and screamed out loudly as she remembered what Captain had told her hours earlier.“Are you sure you know everything?” He had said to her and she raised her brows at him.“Yes, of course. I see everything and that was how I knew who you
Marley groaned softly and turned sideways. Her drowsy eyes met a pair of blue ones.For a moment, she thought she was imagining him. But then she heard his voice loud and clear.“Neils. Are you awake?” His hand touched her shoulder gently and Marley knew she wasn't dreaming.“Anthonio…” She said hoarsely.“Yes, I'm here.” He replied to her and came close.She could see his face clearly now, his face was etched in worry.“How are you feeling?” He asked her.Marley glanced around her and saw the white walls and ceilings. Her eyes moved to her hand where an IV was attached and she looked back at him.“How did you find me?” She asked him.Anthonio sighed. “Through a tracking app.”Her brows creased. “You are still tracking me.”“I told you it was for your safety.”She opened her mouth to speak but Anthonio spoke instead.“And don't even say you can protect yourself. What if I didn't have a tracker on your phone, what could have happened, huh?” Marley just stared at him not knowing what t
Mandy gulped down the third glass of vodka the bartender had poured for her that night.She wiped her mouth and glanced at the entrance wondering if he would come.He had to come, if not all that she had worked for would be for nothing.People came and left, but she didn't see the person she was expecting.“Another refill?” The bartender asked her when she emptied her glass.She stared at her glass and shook her head, at the same time the entrance door opened and she glanced at it.She went still as she watched him walk in, searching around probably for her and her lips stretched wide when he turned his head and his eyes met hers.She raised a hand and waved at him and he came over, stopping a few feet away from her.“Who are you?” He asked her and Mandy flashed a grin at him.“A friend.” “That is not the answer to my question. Who are you?” Mandy got up from her seat and went over to him, coming close to him.“Mandy Kalvey.” She watched recognition tint his eyes and she nodded her
“He met with your father five years ago.”Marley stood fixated in her spot trying to digest what she just heard.“What do you mean? Peter met my dad?”Roy nodded.“How sure are you?”“Hundred percent my dear. I carried out your request myself and I found out that he met your father five years back
Marley lifted her chin defiantly.“You have no right.”“I have all the right Miss Neils. You are bound to me for six months as my bride.” He replied, and his eyes moved over her face, lingering at her lips.“And even the right to kiss you right here.” He whispered.Marley hiccuped. He was standing
Marley's head stung as memories of last night flooded in.Memories of everything that conspired between her and Anthonio.Of her pleas, of the hotness and wetness between her legs, and then of the blissful relief and release she had felt when he had thrusted his finger into her core.She swallowed
Marley stood outside Sheinds Palace and waited for Mandy.She knew it was crazy to invite her over without Anthonio's permission but she knew what she was doing.She needs a distraction and Mandy will serve as that.A SUV drove into the driveway and Mandy got out.She came towards Marley, smiling f
