Daniella

I closed the shower head and concentrated on the sound I had just heard outside. No, all was quiet. It should be my imagination. How could Drake be here? He wasn’t aware of my presence in his apartment. Earlier, I had almost reached home when I saw his car stop at my building. I panicked and drove away, changing my plans at the last minute. I didn’t want to face him. The scene replayed in my head like a broken record. The hurt was still the same. The entire day had passed by, but I still couldn’t come to terms with the reality.

Then what was Drake doing at my mom’s house? Wasn’t he busy with Lara?

I dried myself and put on my clothes. This was the last place Drake would ever come to. I rolled my eyes at my stupidity. Did I expect him to come looking for me?

Then why was I here? Why did I make dinner for two?

I had no answers.

It was an impulsive move to come here, but maybe my heart wanted to test him. Would he seek me out? Would he remember his promise?

It echoed in my he

DrakeI walked out of the hotel in a state of confusion. Daniella had checked out almost two hours ago. Then why hadn’t she returned home yet? Where could she have gone? Should I seek police help? What if anything untoward happened to her? I called Aunt Ellie. “Daniella has checked out two hours ago, Aunt Ellie. Do you know where she could have gone?” “Oh! I’m as clueless as you are, son. She’s close to Brynne and Julia. With both of them married, she has no other place to go. Still, I’ll call her and find out.” Aunt Ellie sounded panicked.“Her phone is switched off. Should I seek police help?” “Hang on a minute. Let me try her number. She calls me back usually.”I disconnected the call and drove over to the hospital. Lucien and Grandpa had gone to see the doctor while Aunt Vera had gone home. Mom was awake and looking much better. “Did you patch up with Daniella?” I shook my head and sat down beside her. “She has disappeared, Mom. I had been searching for her the whole day.” I

DrakeI trudged back to Mom’s room after two hours. Lara’s relatives had come over to relieve me of my responsibilities, and I could go back to my mom. When Lara arrived in my mom’s room early in the morning, on the brink of a nervous breakdown, I couldn’t ignore her. With her father undergoing a life-saving surgery, she needed my support. However, her father breathed his last on the operating table, and Lara lost consciousness. Lucien agreed to come over and look after my mom in my absence. So I could be with Lara during her difficult time. Her relatives came over, and I left her in their care. My head swooned from hunger. Maybe I would check up on my mom’s condition before grabbing something to eat. Lucien and Mom smiled at me when I went inside. She was looking much better today with the fever gone after the first dose of treatment. “Where were you, Drake?” She gave me a look of concern. “Umm, I met a friend here, Mom. Her dad passed away, and she needed my support.” I felt unc

DaniellaI went into the jam-packed elevator, eager to meet Drake. He had been here since last night, and I brought him some grilled sandwiches. I was sure he had skipped dinner and breakfast last night. I kept on asking him, but met with vague answers.‘I’m not hungry!’He sounded lost, and I couldn’t gauge the reason. Had Aunt Sarah’s health deteriorated? I was apprehensive all night. I shouldn’t have left him alone. So I woke up early and made breakfast for him.The elevator doors opened, and I walked out, negotiating my way towards the oncology department. Aunt Sarah was in the premium room, and the guard allowed me inside after seeing my visitor's card.Aunt Sarah was still fast asleep, but where was Drake? Had he left? I placed the food on the side table and walked out in search of Drake.“He’s at the emergency department OT,” informed the friendly guard. I thanked her and headed towards the OT. What was he doing there? Maybe he had gone there to meet Aunt Sarah’s doctor.I walk

Drake“You didn’t tell me why you’re here, Drake. I tried contacting you for years. But you changed your number. I visited your house often, but your grandpa refused to let me see you.” She sighed, but it didn’t melt me. It was news to me. Grandpa never informed me about Lara’s visit. Was she lying?“I’m here for my mom’s treatment. She has been admitted to the oncology department. So why did you want to contact me? There was nothing left between us. You ended everything the day you betrayed me.” She shook her head vehemently. “I didn’t betray you, Drake. I was sucked in a conspiracy hatched by the most powerful Frederick Rochester, the owner of the Rochester Group of companies.” I frowned at her claim. Was it another game to gain my sympathy? “Then why did you marry him? I saw your wedding live on television. You looked quite happy. So don’t expect me to believe your tale.” She gave me a desperate look. “It isn’t a tale, Drake. It’s the truth. He stalked me for months, and the da

  • A Deal With The Devil   Book 2: Chapter Fifty-Six – Daniella Convinces Mom

DrakeI watched Daniella as she walked down the aisle with Julia. Clad in the figure-hugging blue dress I bought for her, she looked se*y as hell. While all eyes were on the bride, I couldn’t take my eyes off the bridesmaid with cascading hair shining like spun gold. Daniella took my breath away. She affected me like no other, not even Lara. In fact, Lara’s charm felt insignificant compared to hers. Maybe what I felt for Lara was nothing but a crush. It crumbled when she betrayed me, but the hurt remained locked in my heart for years. It vanished only when I vented it out in my drunken state. I couldn’t wait to hold her in my arms again. The brief make-out session in the morning only aroused me more. It sparked a hunger that only she could satisfy. As if knowing the effect she was having on me, she gave me a smoldering look. It took my breath away. She stood by Julia, but her focus was totally on me. How would it feel if it were our wedding instead of Dominic and Julia’s? My throat
