Julietta / Julia

“Are you staying with us forever?” Although Diego tried to curb his excitement, I knew he was happy with this arrangement. I had no problem staying at home and looking after the house and him.

“I can’t promise forever. But yes, I’m staying for a long time.”

“Great. So, will you be my mom like Aunt Brynne is to Leo?” He gave me a hopeful look. The situation might have left a lasting effect on him. For years, he and Leo had grown up together, sharing the same single-parent situation. Now that Leo had found a loving mother, Diego was desperate to find the same for himself at all costs. I couldn’t decline him.

“You can call me Mom.” I smiled at him, serving his dinner. Ever since Mr. Sylvester announced his employment offer, he had disappeared into his study. Diego had summoned him twice for dinner, yet there were no signs of him joining us.

“Thanks, Mom. That’s what I’ll call you. Hang on, I have to inform Leo right away.” He gave me a wide smile as he typed a mess

Julietta / Julia“But they’re too big for Aunt Julia!” gasped Diego, taking them from his dad and chuckling at the sheer size of the clothes. It made Mr. Sylvester glare at his son.“Diego, what are you doing here? Why didn’t you go to school?” Mr. Sylvester looked furious now. “It’s Foundation Day at school, Dad.” Diego smacked his forehead. “I’ll help you with your luggage, Aunt Julia.” “No need. You can go to your room and study.” His dad sounded upset, and I wondered if it was because of the clothes. Obviously, they would never fit me. Eric wasn’t as tall as he was, yet his clothes hung loosely around my delicate frame. Diego grumbled and walked away, with Aunt Vera following him out. Mr. Sylvester gave me a death glare. “Are you planning to stand here all day? Why don’t you change out of these?” He carried my belongings to the room I had previously occupied. “Thank you for letting me stay. I’ll leave when I find a place of my own.” I felt ill at ease within the closed confi

Julietta / JuliaI was stunned to see Dominic Sylvester at Eric’s house. How did he find me? After everything he had done, I had expected never to meet him again. In fact, I didn’t want to meet him.He stared at me, his gaze taking in the purplish marks on my face. Didn’t he know they were of his doing? The cop had inflicted these wounds because of him. I looked away, wanting to block him out. Struggling to get my battered body up, I sat at the edge of the bed to face him.“I’m sorry, Julia, he just barged in,” said Eric, coming into the room in an agitated state. I could understand he had fought for me.I turned to face Mr. Sylvester. Did he think he could barge in anywhere? “I don’t want to see you, Mr. Sylvester. Why are you here?”“I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, Julia. I’ve come here to take you home.” He looked uncomfortable in Eric’s presence.“This is my home until I can find an alternative. I’m not going anywhere with you.” I held his gaze, defying his wish. Did he think

Dominic I was clueless now. Where would I look for her? Did she go to Brynne’s house? I messaged Lucien. Has Julia Mitchell gone to your house? – Dominic. I knew it sounded creepy, but I was desperate to know. Immediately my phone buzzed, and I groaned. Why? Did you chase her in your dreams all night, bro? – Lucien. I rolled my eyes, having expected that comeback. They knew how uncomfortable I was with women. Yet they never gave up a chance to pull my legs. Yes, you wish. So? Is she there or not? – Dominic. No, she isn’t here or at Daniella’s house. Good luck finding her. – Lucien.I sat in my car in a dazed state. What would I do now? Where would I look for Julia? I drove home feeling lost when an idea struck me. I could go to her office and meet her. She would surely be at her workplace. I felt restless when I returned home empty-handed. My mom and Diego would surely drive me crazy. How could I avoid them? But the moment I walked in, my phone buzzed with a call from Denver’s

DominicThe cops left, and I glared at my son as he hung his head in shame. He knew what he had done. Freddie Smith, his dedicated chauffeur, had reached his school, but Diego refused to return home with him. Instead, he left for his best friend’s house for a night's stay. “I’m so disappointed in you, Diego. If you had wanted to spend time with your best friend, you could have asked for my permission, right?” I glanced at his friend, Denver Storme, who held hands with my son like a partner in his crime. With both pre-teens alone at his house, it was such a dangerous situation. What would I have done if Freddie hadn’t followed Diego from school? After the cops arrested Julia, Freddie visited me to update me about Diego. I wished Freddie had come earlier before I unnecessarily accused an innocent woman. But Freddie had met with an accident on his way back. He couldn’t have come earlier. “As if you’d agree, Dad. Yet I called you.” Diego still couldn’t look at me. “I’ve received no c

Julietta / JuliaGuilt and concern had me tongue-tied, and I went into panic mode. How had I been so callous? How could I forget my son? Diego’s helpless face swam across my mind, and tears pooled in my eyes. I couldn’t keep the nasty thoughts at bay. What if anything untoward happened to him?“Oh, I’m so sorry, Mr. Sylvester. I’ll try his number. No, I’ll go to his school and ask the guards there. I’m sure they’ll know his whereabouts.” I picked up my phone to call him, but Mr. Sylvester intervened.“That’s enough. You can take your fake concern elsewhere. Do you think I haven’t tried his number?” He held out Diego’s phone. “He left it at home.”I panicked more, holding onto my throbbing head. I would go crazy if I didn’t find him. “Oh, then I’m going to his school. We have to find him, Mr. Sylvester.” The tears streamed down my cheeks as I whirled around to rush to the elevator. He lunged forward and grabbed hold of my wrist to stop me. “You’ve done enough harm, Julia Mitchell. I’ll
