MIA

I sat in front of the mirror like a log of wood about to be chopped into pieces and plunged into the fire.

Even after sitting in a steaming bathtub for almost an hour, the smell of that man's blood still haunted my nostrils, and the feeling of dread remained stuck on my skin.

Different women touched my face and hair from all sides, highlighting my beauty with a stroke against my eyebrows or a blush over my high cheekbones.

I didn't say a word, nor did I stop them. I just sat there, staring

  • A Deal With The Lycan King    60: Madam Helena's request

MIA“You called for me, Madam Helena,” my voice echoed in the room as I stood at the entrance of her room. She looked up, her eyes narrowing for a second before turning dark when she realized who I was.“You have no task currently, right?” She questioned, her voice sharp and piercing.I shivered before nodding. She let out a sigh and straightened up, staring at her reflection in the mirror for some time before turning to face me again.“I need you to carry out a task for me,” she muttered. My chest tightened, and I sucked in a sharp breath as dread washed over me.I needed to get out of this Pack in less than an hour, but with Madam Helena spitting out those dreadful words, I might have an obstacle to overcome first.I swallowed hard and clenched my fist, pressing my lips together. She crossed her legs on the couch and picked up a glass of ice-filled water, then gulped it all down, leaving the ice to melt in the glass. I could see drops of sweat running down the side of her face as sh

  • A Deal With The Lycan King    59: Too gullible

MIAI looked up at the sky and felt a sickening sensation as streaks of pink and orange spread over the darkening sky.I sucked in a deep breath and dusted my dress as I darted my eyes towards the closed gate.In the next thirty minutes, the gates would be open, and my path to freedom would finally be clear.“The gates would be open soon,” Julia muttered beside me. I tilted my head to the side and smiled.Julia had agreed to run away with me after hesitating. I had told her every good thing outside this Pack, and it did convince her.I would protect her from the evil of the outside world as a way of repaying her for her help here.“When do you think we should leave?” I asked as I straightened up.She let out a sigh and shrugged, darting her eyes to the gate again.“I don't know yet, but we need to be careful to avoid getting caught. Guests will keep coming even when the ceremony starts,” she muttered. She shifted closer, her face twisted in a serious expression. My chest tightened, a

ASMODEUS (JADEN) “According to the weather forecast, residents have been instructed to remain at home tomorrow…” I picked up another cigarette and lit it as the newscaster rambled away. I sat close to the window watching her from above as she picked the blueberry in the garden below. I took a long drag from the cigarette, my eyes narrowing as I listened to the news droning in the background. She turned her head to the side and grinned widely, then shifted her attention back to the berries in the basket. I watched her plop one into her mouth as she darted her eyes around to be sure no one was watching. My lips twitched up and I leaned forward, making sure she wouldn't see me from where she stood below. She wiped away the beads of sweat on her forehead and stretched her body. Her dress was wet and stuck to her back, and her skin looked sunburned from being under the sun for too long. She plucked more blueberries, her lips pressed in annoyance as she winced over some problem I did

  • A Deal With The Lycan King    57: Desires

MIA“Get the lilies,” Julia’s voice echoed from the large hall as I rolled in vases filled with different flowers.“Okay,” I replied and sucked in the different intoxicating scents of the flowers before me.I carefully rolled them into the hall but froze when I looked up to take in where I had entered. My jaw dropped, and a gasp escaped my lips as I stared up at the enormous crystal chandelier hanging in the middle of the hall. I had never seen a chandelier so large or beautiful in my life.My throat knotted as I darted my eyes over the walls. Intricate designs and oil paintings adorned the walls, each piece screaming wealth and exquisite art.The ceiling soared high above me, its surface decorated with ancient inscriptions and crystal panels. Floor-to-ceiling windows lined the walls, offering an exquisite view of the grounds outside as the sun streamed into the hall. The marble floor was so polished that I could see my clear reflection in it.There were several tables on the other si

  • A Deal With The Lycan King    56: Pierre's behavior

MIAThe morning came more quickly than I expected, and everywhere was filled with chaos and the sound of feet thumping against the wooden floors.I turned to the side, and my eyes opened, landing on the space where Pierre lay. My throat knotted as our meeting yesterday sneaked into my mind. Pierre had looked like a ghost when I blurted out those words. She didn't say anything, nor did she show any kind of emotion. That made me even more afraid, realizing that I didn't know what was going on in her mind.“Are you gonna lie there and stare forever?” someone snapped above me, and my head jerked up.My throat knotted, and I brushed my hair back, faking a smile.“Good morning,” I mumured, a smug smile tugging at the corner of my lips. The lips of the redhead standing above me curled, and she huffed loudly.“You better get up and get moving if you don't want to sleep on an empty stomach tonight,” she snapped. I giggled, knowing damn well I won't be spending another night here.“Alright,” I

  • A Deal With The Lycan King    55: We can't be friends

MIAI gulped hard and spun around to face her, my face tight in a frown.I raised my brows, waiting for her to speak. Her lips parted and slammed shut, and she gripped her pale hands, lowering her head while patting her feet on the ground countless times.“I want to talk to you,” she muttered.I inhaled sharply and shrugged, trying to hide my displeasure.“What do you want?” I asked. She sucked her bottom lip in and took a few steps towards me, then paused and looked up to face me.“I know this must sound stupid…”“Just say it, Julia!” I snapped, impatient. Her presence irritated me, and even though I didn't like how that felt, I still couldn't help it.She sighed, and her shoulders sagged.I almost scoffed when I realized that she was struggling to keep her ego aside and do the right thing. She moved her lips and squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again and stared right into my eyes.“Forgive me, Mia,” she blurted out. “Forgive me for the way I treated you earlier.”My throat k
