Chapter 1

Autor: Cryo
Sophie Ryder held a tray of fresh organs in her trembling hands—my organs.

Inside my abdomen, only my intestines remained. Everything else had been extracted.

"Once I transplant these into Adrian, he'll recover," Sophie said, her face lighting up with a smile. "He'll be healthy and live a long life."

Even though my heart had been stolen, the pain rippled through me anyway. I understood then that I was experiencing a shared agony with my original body—the one I'd been cloned from.

"You owe Adrian this much for stabbing him and rupturing his kidney. His health has never recovered since that day."

The truth was simpler: when my original self had discovered Adrian Corell's real intentions toward Sophie, he'd dragged Adrian out and beaten him to stop him from hurting her. Adrian had pulled a knife. My original body had fought back in self-defense and accidentally stabbed him.

I couldn't hold back. A tear slipped down my cheek, and the pain in my chest intensified.

"I... it hurts so much."

The words came out involuntarily.

Sophie's eyes widened slightly. She glanced at Adrian, who was watching from the corner of the room.

Adrian spoke up suddenly. "Sophie, didn't he usually not feel pain when organs were taken out? Why this time? Could it be... he doesn't want to give me organs, so he's faking it?"

Sophie's face darkened with anger.

"Marcus, listen to me. This is payment for what you did to Adrian. Letting you give him a few organs is getting off easy."

I couldn't help but laugh bitterly. In the five years since I'd been created, I'd lost count of how many times Sophie had harvested my organs. At first, she'd hesitated, afraid to cut into me without anesthesia. But by now, she'd become an expert at it. Eventually, she stopped giving me painkillers altogether—just cut me open and took what she wanted, no questions asked.

She claimed it was to make money, to improve our lives. But every cent of those earnings had become assets for her and Adrian. I was nothing but a tool they could discard whenever they pleased.

After Adrian's organ transplant, my abdomen hadn't fully healed yet. My new organs hadn't fully integrated. The pain was overwhelming, and I was on the verge of losing consciousness.

Sophie dumped a bucket of ice water over me.

"Don't think you can play the victim to win my sympathy. You recovered instantly every other time—why not now? You're faking it."

She grabbed my wound roughly.

"Get better already. I need your organs for Adrian's daughter too. I want her to be healthier and stronger. Once I'm done with her, I'll let you go."

My entire body went cold. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"Do you not care about my feelings at all?" I asked on behalf of my original self, the man she'd claimed to love, the one who'd sacrificed so much for her.

Sophie's eyes darted away. "You owe Adrian everything anyway. And besides, you'll recover no matter what happens."

I felt for my original self. After all he'd done for Sophie, this was how she repaid him.

Once Adrian had been stabbed, Sophie had immediately abandoned my original body to rush Adrian to the hospital. She never noticed that my original self had been injured too. The first thing he'd thought of wasn't going to a hospital for himself—even as he was dying, all he could think about was her.

Sophie tore open the bag immediately and found the wedding dress and tuxedo inside. She burst into wails."Marcus, I'm a monster. You wanted to marry me so many times, and I kept putting you off. I was so wrong."The housekeeper walked over to the refrigerator and opened it."Sir left so many meals for you in the fridge. And today, a restaurant sent food over too. They said Sir had pre-ordered it—because he knew you don't know how to cook and was afraid you'd go hungry."I had always been the one to take care of Sophie, to cook for her. So before I died, I made sure to instruct my clone to prepare meals for her before his time ran out. At least that would give her a transition period—because I knew that once I was gone, she wouldn't eat properly.Sophie crawled over to the fridge and pulled out a food container. A sticky note was attached to it: "No matter what happens, remember to eat."Her tears splashed onto the container, and the frost melted on contact. It was just like the

I was moved that my clone could speak those words for me. But he was already gone. I would never get to say thank you.Sophie's face twisted in agony. She clutched her chest."I was wrong, Marcus. I want to see you. I never even got to see you one last time—it hurts so much."The officer put his phone away and told her, "What you did to the clone over the past five years was illegal. And you've caused the deaths of countless innocent people. You're coming with us to the holding cell. You'll be sentenced."But Sophie was pregnant, so they took her to the hospital instead, under strict police guard. In her hospital room, Sophie was in so much pain that she kept banging her head against the wall. She muttered under her breath, "Marcus, if I could have a second chance, I would never hurt you again."I was so angry because you stabbed Adrian and damaged his kidney. That's why I hated you."But I always knew, deep down, that I was the one in the wrong."I wanted to tell her that none

At the police station, Sophie sat with her hands cuffed, her eyes hollow and vacant. She looked like someone had drained the soul right out of her. I had no idea what was going through her mind at that moment. The officer told her, "Your boyfriend, Marcus—the one who just died—was a clone. Your real boyfriend was stabbed to death by Adrian five years ago."Back then, Marcus and Adrian got into a fight. You were so busy rushing Adrian to the hospital that you didn't even notice Marcus was hurt too."Before he died, Marcus went to his lab and cloned himself. His original body is still preserved in the lab, frozen."Those words finally got a reaction out of Sophie. Her eyes turned bloodshot."Take me to him. I need to see him."I wanted to ask her—what's the point? I'm already dead. The officers took her to the station morgue. My body lay there. Even though it had been frozen for five years, my face and body had deteriorated, twisted beyond recognition. The only thing still intact

"How could this happen? Someone, get a doctor in here—now!" Sophie yelled.Adrian was rushed into the ER. But the doctor came back out almost immediately and told Sophie, "This is bizarre. His organs are completely gone. His abdominal cavity is empty."Sophie's pupils contracted in shock."Why... why did everyone end up like this?""Miss Ryder, I think you need to find somewhere to hide. With everything that's happened, the police are definitely going to come looking for you."Sophie scrambled to her feet in terror. As she ran out, she kept muttering under her breath, "Marcus, is this your revenge? Why is all of this happening?"And honestly? In a way, it probably was my revenge. Though I never could have pulled it off without my clone helping me. Back then, I never imagined that Sophie would become so unhinged.Sophie rushed home. There was still a pool of blood on the floor—the clone's blood. She clutched her mouth and sobbed."Why did everything have to end up like this?"

  • A Devoted Boyfriend's Clone   Chapter 5

When the clone died, all the organs he'd previously given away would disappear.Sophie had only one hour left before the organs she'd transplanted into Adrian would vanish. But this wasn't the biggest problem. Every person who'd bought organs from Sophie and received my clone's organs was already showing symptoms.Sophie slapped Adrian hard across the face."Were you faking the whole time?"Tell me—were you faking earlier!"You just wanted me to hurt Marcus, didn't you!"Now I could finally see it. Sometimes I wondered if Sophie was deliberately playing dumb. She'd always known what kind of person Adrian was. Yet she kept choosing to believe in him, over and over again.Adrian's face flushed red from the slap. He whimpered, "Sophie, I'm confused. I don't understand what you're saying. I wasn't faking."Sophie's tears fell uncontrollably. She turned to look at my clone's body and said quietly, "Marcus, I'm sorry."It had been so long since I'd heard her say my name so gently.

Third-Person POVSophie's eyes went wide. She stared at the glowing text on the clone's collarbone. The words were exactly what her assistant had read aloud."How is this possible?" Sophie's lips trembled. She shoved Marcus roughly. "Stop playing dead, Marcus! Wake up! Wake up!"But the clone's body fell with a dull thud onto the floor. Blood poured from his open abdomen, streaming across the tiles. His eyes remained shut, his lips pale. The assistant's face went white. She bent down to check for a pulse, then collapsed backward onto the ground."Miss... he's... he's gone.""No... impossible!" Sophie dropped to her knees and crawled toward the clone's body."Don't scare me like this, Marcus."When she touched his body, she recoiled in shock. It was already ice-cold.Death came too fast. A normal human's body wouldn't cool this quickly."Call a doctor! Hurry!"Sophie's composure shattered completely. She rushed the clone's body to her private hospital, her hands shaking.M
