Theodore stepped closer to the Library, his expression perturbed.
The scent had disappeared quickly but for a few minutes, it had been very strong; the scent of a healthy, pure-blood Gloom-Elf.
The professor swallowed, fear slowly entering his chest.
Damon was a Full-fledged Gloom Elf.
There was no way he would be around the University in such broad daylight risking the Humans finding out about the Mythological World. Half-Myths could hide their traits a lot easier than Elves or Fairies could.
Theodore dabbed at the sweat on his forehead.
Ethan and Abel walked around the halls with no protection. The boys were not used to sudden bursts of violence or anything close to fighting or defending themselves.
Professor Theodore sighed.
He couldn’t risk their safety any longer after the scent he’d smelt.
“Professor, are you okay?”
Theodore looked up to see the stunning Dorothy Haggl
Theodore watched the beautiful woman walk up to him, her face glowing as she gave him a cheerful smile. It was a switch in personality from previously that morning and Theodore wondered how close the friends were to have made a change so quickly. The professor smiled when she finally reached him, “Hello, miss. May we begin? I have the next two hours off and I would like to assist in getting you acquainted with the work?”The girl nodded, her smile growing warm, “Thank you very much, Professor?”Theodore shook his head, finding his own smile grow genuine, “Don’t thank me. Shall we begin?”Daphne nodded, “Yes.”Turning around, Theodore walked to the large desk near the entrance of the library, “I will try my best to not confuse you.”“I’ll try my best.”Dorothy Hagglin stalked into her class and wave
Two fairies hurried when they stuffed vials into a soft, cloth bag.“You think he’ll reach her alright?”A plump fairy reached for a scroll and pushed it into the bag as well, “He will have to. We’ll send a Pigeo with him.”The other lady sighed before she flew up to the jar of liquids arranged on a high shelf, “I’m so afraid. I don’t want her to be hurt. My heart is beating so rapidly.”The first fairy bundled the two bags together before straightening, “We’ll have to trust that she’ll be alright until the Council stops Damon and the others.”“That bit of news today chilled me,” the fairy flew down with her hands filled with large jars, “I am so afraid for our little Daffodil.”“She will be okay, Emae.”Emae wrapped the jars in a large cloth before looking over at her Fairy friend, “W-will the
Drew ran through the corridors of the university, panting and out of breath. The news he’d just heard had chilled him to the bone.Cynthia Rayse had been a lovely Half-Myth living in the outskirts of the city. She’d been brutally murdered by, it was suspected, the Half-Myth Hunters and her entire home vandalized.Drew felt tears brim in his eyes; his legs shook as he ran to the Library of the university hoping to find Professor Theodore.Daffodil bit her lip.Why was she so shy all of a sudden?Peeking from behind the shelves, she caught a glimpse of the calm man reading his book. His dark brown hair lay in thick tufts, pulled away from his forehead; he wore a casual jacket over a shirt and vest and his expression seemed serious, eyes focused on the book he was reading, eyebrows slightly furrowed. The Half-Fairy felt her heart flip.Had she ever ha
Ethan and Abel sat across the table from the Professor and their friend Drew.“She was a very young Half-Myth,” Drew was saying, his voice shaky from crying.“When was this?” Ethan wanted to know.“Yesterday,” Drew sniffed, “She was found dead by her parents when they returned home. A scroll signed by the Half-Myth Hunters was left at the house…”The men stiffened in rage.Drew shook his head, his eyes still teary, “The Centaur clan is definitely provoked now. They are very upset with the Council for failng to protect this girl.”Ethan glanced to the side to see Abel’s fists clenched. He couldn’t help feeling angry himself.Drew took a shaky breath, “The Centaurs have announced that any known-to-be Half-Myth Hunter will be killed on sight with no hesitation and will be regarded as dangerous outcasts looking for murder.”E
Dorothy Hagglin stepped into the library. She spotted Professor Theodore at a table with three other boys and scowled.Abel sat with him.Theodore belonged to a clan of Gloom Elves and finding that out had made Dorothy jump with joy. From what she knew of the hierarchy, Elves were at the very top and lived lives of nobility. If Dorothy Hagglin could find her way into Theodore’s affections, she may be able to marry into a life of carefree bliss. The boy standing in her way was the annoying Abel. The tall, dark-haired brat had seemed dumb and quiet at first but had turned out to be a menace in waiting. A few weeks into her plan of capturing the romantic interest of Theodore, Abel had begun butting into her conversations and steering the Half-Elf away from her at every opportunity.Wanting to strangle his arrogant self was the mildest of the violent thoughts in her mind every time she saw him.She str
Beryl rolled her eyes at Daryl.“I like apples!” Daryl shot back, “They’re good for you!”“With Pasta, Daryl?” Beryl’s voice was annoyed, “Your food combinations are getting out of hand!”“Does it taste good?” Daffodil sat between the two at a table in the University’s large cafeteria.“Oh, Daff, here’s a bite. It tastes ama-.”“Agh!” Beryl huffed before biting into her sandwich.Daryl turned her head away to signal the argument was over, “It tastes kinda nice, Daff. Focus on the flavours!”Daffodil’s smile was forced, “It sure tastes good, Daryl!”Daryl’s eyes lit up when she looked over, “Doesn’t it, Daff?! Doesn’t the pasta taste so much better with the crunch of the apple?”The pink-haired fairy placed the rest of the piece down at a c
“Beryl!” Daryl sounded offended.Beryl sighed.“I’m sure Abel will keep this secret!”Beryl let her eyebrows lift, “I can’t guarantee that, Daryl. You can’t trust him just because he’s tall and good-looking. How did you develop such a harsh crush on him so quickly anyway? You see me and my cousin doing that?”“I may have a crush on someone…”Beryl turned to stare at Daffodil, “What?”“And I know who!” Daryl crowed with confidence before shooting Beryl a look of pride, “I’ve bonded with Daff more than you have, Ber!”Beryl rolled her eyes, “Who is it, Daff?”“I knew who it was the moment Daff saw him.”Daff blushed, “You did?”Daryl nodded confidently trying to annoy Beryl, “And honestly, you need tips from me on how to behave normally wh
Daff listened to her two friends bicker away as she slid two books into a shelf. The library was full of students sitting in different corners, most not bothering Daffodil as they sat by themselves or in groups, reading the books they had taken.Daffodil walked over to her desk, her friends subconsciously following along as they continued to argue.“You guys,” the pink haired fairy urged, as her eyes travelled through the Library, watching all of the humans studying, “can’t you give it a rest?”Ignored, she sighed when she reached the desk with the two of them.Looking around her, she wondered what kind of a life she had missed out on over the years. Her mother had taught her at home but Daffodil had widely believed that Half-Myths were extremely rare and that most only lived with their mythological side.Half-Myths living full-time with the humans surprised her.It was such a lot
