A Glimpse of Life Series #1: Be Careful What You Wish For

'I am the Aiden Knight, a millionaire at 25, among the top ten most eligible bachelors of the year according to Forbes. I can get anything and anyone I want, Except one, that's my step sister.

I cannot have the one thing I crave desperately' my stepsister.

Our story started in Texas. I went on a business trip to look at one of my restaurants in texas. That's when I saw her, Aria William, my memorable one nightstand. And I didn't know that she is my step-sister.

Aria is drunk. She can tell it by the way she is eying the hot guy, who is sitting on the barstool talking to someone beside him.

"Aria, you are drunk. We should go home" her wingman, ex-boyfriend, and now her best friend Adam said from beside her.

"Ya, I need some water" she muttered.

"Sit here. I will go and get it for you" Adam told her before leaving her alone in the corner table they were sitting in.

Aiden looked at the beauty, who is giving him come and get me looks for the past half an hour.

"Going after her?" his friend Noah asked from beside her.

"Ya, she is hot. Perfect for a one-night stand on the last day of our stay" Aiden told.

"It looks like she has a boyfriend" Noah pointed out.

"Na, he is her friend. The way they are talking, it's just familiarity, nothing is intimate there" he observed.

Aiden walked towards the girl, who is looking at him curiously.

When the hot guy approached her, she didn't quite catch up with what he was saying, but her body's reactions to his touches must have encouraged him, as a go-ahead signal.

Because the next thing she remembered is his hands touching all over her naked body as if he is hungry.

The next morning, Aria woke up to her head pounding like hell and her mouth as dry as a desert.

"I should not drink again" she mumbled.

"You should not," Aiden said when he noticed the girl is awake.

When Aria heard a stranger's voice, she looked at the source of the voice. She is stunned to see the man she was eying with last night standing beside her bed.

"Who are you? What are you doing in my room?" Aria asked in horror.

"This is my hotel room, and the bed you are currently sitting on, is also mine" Aiden pointed out in amusement.

Aria looked around her and noticed for the first time since she woke up, that he is right.

She vaguely remembers last night's events and her face flamed with embarrassment.

"Oh my God" Aria panicked.

She looked down and found that she is naked from the waist up. She immediately covered herself with the blanket which pooled in her lap.

She looked around and found her sundress thrown on the floor along with her inner garments.

Aiden found her reaction cute.

"Can I use your bathroom?" She asked him without meeting his eyes.

"Sure," he said pointing towards the bathroom.

Aria clutched the sheets around her naked body tightly.

She gathered her clothes hastily before slipping inside the bathroom and locking herself safely inside and away from the stranger.

She washed her mouth with the toothpaste she found there and washed her face to wake her up completely.

She used the bathroom before slipping the sundress down. 

She opened the door slowly and found the room empty. She looked around and noticed the stranger talking on his phone with his back facing her on the balcony.

She found her ankle boots beside the bed and her phone near the bedside table. She held them in her hands before running away from the stranger and that room.

After he was done talking to Noah, he turned around and walked inside the room. He saw the bathroom door ajar and there are no moments heard from inside either.

He opened the door and found it empty like he expected it to be.

"She ran away? My little virgin lover" he thought with amusement.

The blood on the white sheets is proof of her innocence.

'This is a first for him. Not wanting to chase the girl as soon as he is done. His one-night stand being a virgin, and she is the one who ran away from him, even though he wanted to have her again' he thought.

Aria called Adam, who started yelling at her the moment he picked up the call.

"Where the hell are you Aria? I am worried sick. You disappeared just like that..." Adam yelled at her with concern. 

She drowned out his voice and told him to pick her up. 

When Adam came, she didn't say anything to him. Somehow everything felt like a bad dream and talking about it out loud made it all real.

"I went to clear my head" she muttered.

Adam sighed at her explanation and didn't question her further.

After all, he knows why she needs to clear her head. She never drinks, because she is a lightweight. But he brought her out of that town so that she would be able to clear her head.

She lost her mother a couple of months ago and she is in the process of selling her house to clear the debts which accumulated since her mother has fallen sick. 

The first heart stroke was severe, and her mother had to undergo an operation and implant a pacemaker to extend her life a little more.

But a couple of months ago, she had a stroke in her sleep and expired. 

Adam dropped Aria, near her house.

"Call me if you need anything," Adam said and Aria nodded absently.

She unlocked the door and locked the door after her.

Aria and her mother lived on their grandfather's ranch, her mother's father.

Now in less than a month, she had to hand over this ranch to its new owner and move away with her belongings.

Tears pooled in her eyes. She regrets going out and drinking last night. 

Aria sighed with frustration. Her head is pounding and she lost her virginity to a stranger.

"Damn, what have you done Aria? I never thought I will lose my innocence like this" she muttered out loud.

She is not saving it for her future husband, but the time was never right. But last night her brain fogged up and she did not remember how she went with that strange man. 

'At least, he not a psycho serial killer' she thought.

"Alcohol doesn't solve problems, it just numbs the heart," she thought.
