Lunaya.Cole was going to talk. It was written all over his face, an apology. He was going to tell Gunner all that he knew.“I know who she is, she told me so” Cole said quietly, his eyes still glued to mine.“And! Who is she, is she here to hurt Zelena?” Gunner asked him urgently,“You really think so low of me?” Cole asked as he moved his sorrowful eyes back to Gunner.“I don’t know anymore, Cole. You’re not the Cole I used to know. You're not my best friend anymore. I don’t know who you are now”.“I’m your Beta, your best friend since we were pups. I'm still Cole, and I'm just fucking grieving. It would have been nice to have my best mate around while that was happening”. My heart broke for the boy in that moment. He was so broken and so hurt, and apparently, had been facing it all alone. It wasn't hard to guess that this was the boy he spoke about, the one he loved but didn't want him like t
Lunaya.Just as my eyes began to flutter, I was released. I dropped to the floor and my lungs screamed for air. I lay on my back with my eyes closed, taking huge gulps of oxygen. After a minute I opened my eyes and looked over to my daughter. Her head was cradled in Gunner’s sister's lap, and she looked completely peaceful, as if she was just sleeping soundly. My shoulder was grabbed roughly, and I was pulled to my feet. Tobias held me against the wall once again, only this time his forearm was across my upper chest, instead of his hand around my neck. He and Gunner glared at me with the utmost hatred.“Tell me what you did to her! Poison? A spell? What is it?” Gunner demanded.“I promise you, Alpha Gunner, I have not harmed her. I would never harm her” I told him, letting all the truth and sincerity mix with my words. He looked unconvinced.“As soon as you touched her, she passed out. That is not a coincide
Lunaya.Zelena was on the floor, unconscious. I was still holding her hand in mine, but everything else around me was a blur. Her skin tingled against mine. Warmth spread over my hand where we were still connected. I felt dizzy and nauseous. What the fuck just happened? Before I could gather my thoughts and get my bearings back, I was hauled off my feet and my back was slammed hard against the wall. I hit the wall so hard that could swear there was going to be an indent of my body in the plastering. A feral growl made the whole room shake and I was snapped back to reality. My airway was being blocked and my feet were no longer touching the ground. But that wasn’t what concerned me. What did, was my child, lying comatose on the floor. The room burst into a whirlwind of commotion. Gunner and his mother ran to the side of my daughter. Elaine, Alyse, and the others all prepared to attack. The sounds of growls and yelling echoed around the room until
Zelena. My body lurched forward again, and I reappeared in the lounge room. The sun was shining through the front window. Beer bottles and empty takeaway containers littered the floor. Sitting in the middle of the room was me, only now I was older, possibly five or six. I was holding a small dirty and raggedy looking doll to my face. Tears fell down my chubby cheeks as I cried, calling out for my Daddy to come back. This must have been one of the many times that Hank disappeared for days on end, leaving me without food or means to look after myself. Selene appeared in front of the little me and I stopped crying instantly, launching myself into her arms.“Mumma, I’m hungry” little me cried. I called her ‘Mumma’. I don’t remember that. I don’t remember having a mother, or even thinking that I had a mother. Selene pulled me from her arms and sat me back on the ground. She waved her hands in front of her and a plate of meat and vegetables appeared. L
Zelena.“You let him access your power, didn’t you?” I asked, turning to look at her again.“It is not my power, child, it is yours”“But you gave it to me”“I did”“So, you did, you let him access it, through me”. She smiled and turned her body to face me, still holding my hand firmly in her lap.“I gave you the power, it was destined to be yours. Did I know that he would be able to use it through your bond? Yes. But the choice to let him access it, was always your own”.“You aren’t mad?”“Of course not, child” she smiled and squeezed my hand. I knew that Gunner and I were more than Mates, more than True Mates. We were destined. Made for each other. Even after all that, there was one thing that was bothering me. Something Selene said that has been repeating itself in my head.“You said I’ve been here before?” I said while watching her large white eyes.&nbs
Zelena.I feel warm. Not that the air is hot, it actually feels cool and calming against my skin. But on the inside, my chest, my stomach, my cheeks, they all feel wonderfully warm and cosy. I opened my eyes and sat upright. I was in the forest. But this is not the forest around the pack lands, it looks the same, but not. I was back in the white forest, the same one from my dream. As I slowly stood up, I looked down at myself. I was wearing the same clothes, the silk skirt and soft cami, only now they were crystal white and shimmering in the light, and my feet were bare. I started to walk through the trees. My body was on autopilot, going exactly where it needed to go. The field of white flowers came into view, and as before, the figure of the beautiful woman sat in the middle. I walked over and sat down beside her. All the while my eyes were completely entranced by her celestial beauty. She turned to look at me and smiled sweetly. I gasped audibly. I d
