Cami's Dad?

Ariana woke up with a dry mouth and a stomach that felt like a washing machine full of broken glass. The room was pitch black, silent, and overwhelmingly unfamiliar. The massive bed she was in felt like a cloud, but the urgency in her gut was screaming

"I'm going to throw up "she cried

She carefully slipped out of bed, leaving the barely stirring Camila in the peaceful silence. She needed a bathroom, and she needed it immediately. This was her first time in Camila’s house—no, mansion—and every dark hallway looked exactly the same.

She stumbled through a doorway, convinced it was the right direction, only to find herself in a vast, cold kitchen. She retraced her steps, heart pounding against her aching ribs, until, through sheer luck, she finally located a guest powder room. The relief was immediate and total.

After emptying her stomach and splashing cold water on her face, Ariana felt marginally better—still dizzy, but no longer on the verge of total collapse.

She carefully pushed the powder room door open, navigating the silent, cavernous house back toward the direction she thought Camila's room lay. She was passing a large, heavily carved wooden door, distinct from the others, when a sound snagged her attention.

It was soft at first, easily missed beneath the thick carpet and solid walls. A low, rhythmic thud... thud... thud.

Ariana froze. She held her breath, trying to identify the noise. It wasn’t a television, and it wasn’t music. It was organic.

Then, she heard it—a woman’s voice, a sudden, sharp, high-pitched gasp that melted quickly into a low, throaty moan.

Curiosity—and the need to pass the door—overrode caution. Ariana edged closer. The wooden door was slightly ajar, maybe a quarter of an inch, casting a faint sliver of light onto the hallway floor. She could hear everything clearly now: the undeniable, wet sound of flesh hitting flesh, the rapid, ragged breathing, the woman's desperate moans echoing from the darkness inside.

Ariana’s eyes went wide with sudden, horrified understanding, even though she couldn't see anything but she could still see the silhouette of a man and she immediately guessed who it was.

Oh my god. Fuck I think that's Cami’s dad. He's… he’s fucking.

A wave of heat, shame, and sheer terror washed over her. She was a silent spectator to a private, extremely intimate scene in the dead center of the house she was illegally sleeping in. Her cheeks burned. I need to get out of here right now.

She carefully started to back away, pressing herself against the opposite wall, trying to disappear into the shadows.

"Don’t make a sound. Don't make a sound"she inwardly scolded herself.

As she took her last backward step, her hip collided silently with a pedestal table. Her hands shot out, trying to stabilize herself and the object on the stand. It was a tall, intricate ceramic vase, heavy and delicate.

Ariana thought she had caught it. For a brief, agonizing second, the vase remained perfectly still between her clumsy hands.

Then, gravity won.

Her hand slipped. The vase tilted, gathering momentum, and crashed from the stand onto the marble floor with a shattering, ear-splitting explosion of ceramic and noise.

Silence fell in the room behind the door, a terrifying, sudden absence of sound.

Ariana froze, her heart hammering against her ribs, convinced the sound was loud enough to wake the dead. She stared at the broken shards at her feet, paralyzed.

From behind the slightly open door, a low, demanding voice sliced through the silence.A voice that carried command. A voice that was dangerously close.

"Who the hell is out there?"Ariana tried to bolt, spinning on her heel to escape, but before she could take a single step, a large, impossibly fast hand shot out from the dark crack of the doorway, wrapping around her forearm with an iron grip.

She was yanked forward, stumbling to her knees.A low, familiar chuckle rumbled from the shadow, deadly soft and chillingly close to her ear.

"Where do you think you're running to, niña?

"The kids are so funny and adorable." Aurelia smiled as they walked down a hallway after Lucian had seen the manager of the orphanage home."I know, right? Flynn is very used to me so he is pretty free around me. He was the first kid in this home." Lucian replied."Really? What prompted you to build an orphanage home, though? I had no idea you could." Aurelia said."You had no idea that a monster-like person such as me could...""That is not what I meant." Aurelia cut him off with a deep frown on her face.Lucian chuckled. "Just joking.""Well, I would not say that was funny." she replied with a huff."I was just joking. Four years ago, I met Flynn in front of my estate, tattered, hungry and dying. He reminded me of myself," Lucian started."Of yourself? What do you mean by that? You were born into a rich family, weren't you? How could you have been tattered, hungry and dying?" Aurelia asked and Lucian only gave her a small smile."Not everything is the way it seems. Things happen onc

The music roared around them.Flashing lights swept across the packed dance floor, painting everything in brief pulses of blue and red.Cami danced like she owned the room.Fearless.Carefree.Her dark hair whipped around as she spun again, laughing when someone nearly bumped into her.Ariana tried to keep her breathing steady.Because Mateo was still standing beside her.Close.Too close. His presence in the club felt like dropping a wolf into a crowded room of strangers. He didn’t belong there. And yet somehow the crowd parted around him instinctively.Cami noticed.Of course she did.“You really don’t dance, do you?” she shouted at him over the music.Mateo looked mildly amused.“Not usually.”“That’s tragic.”“I manage.”Cami grabbed Ariana’s wrist suddenly.“Come on!”Before Ariana could react, she was pulled deeper onto the dance floor. The music shifted into something faster, louder.Cami immediately started moving again.Ariana followed, trying to loosen the tight knot in her

The music thundered through the club, bass vibrating beneath Ariana’s feet as colored lights sliced across the dance floor.People moved everywhere.Bodies pressed together. Laughter. Glasses clinking. Voices rising over the rhythm.Cami spun beside her, arms raised above her head, completely lost in the music.“This song is amazing!” she shouted, grabbing Ariana’s hands.Ariana laughed, letting herself be pulled into the movement. For a few minutes she forgot everything else. The hospital.Compliance.Mateo.But something inside her shifted suddenly.A feeling. That strange, electric awareness she had started recognizing lately.Like someone watching. Her eyes moved instinctively toward the entrance. And her heart stopped.Mateo stood just inside the club.Still.Perfectly composed despite the chaos around him.He wasn’t dancing. Wasn’t talking.Just standing there in a dark suit, the club lights flashing across his sharp features.Watching her.Only her.The world seemed to narrow i

The afternoon moved slower after the call with Cami.Ariana tried to focus on charts, medication schedules, patient rounds — the quiet rhythm of the hospital that usually steadied her mind. But every time she finished a task, the same thought returned.Tonight.Cami.The club. And Mateo.Because sooner or later he was going to find out.He always did.The cardiology wing hummed with its usual activity. Monitors beeped softly, nurses moved between rooms, and somewhere down the corridor a patient laughed at something Lucas said.Ariana stood at the medication cart reviewing dosages when she felt it again. That shift. That awareness. She looked up.Mateo stood at the far end of the hall speaking with Elena. His posture was relaxed but attentive, his hands resting lightly in the pockets of his white coat. From a distance, he looked untouchable.Respected.Controlled.But the moment his eyes lifted and found hers, the air between them tightened. He held her gaze for exactly two seconds.Th

The hospital felt different that morning. Not louder. Not more crowded.Just… tighter.Like invisible strings had been pulled across the corridors overnight, drawing everything a little closer, a little sharper.Ariana stood at the nurses’ station with Elena’s folder still in her hands, the printed words on the page refusing to settle in her mind.Compliance Review — Requested by Dr. Mateo LópezHer pulse hadn’t slowed since she read it.Across the corridor, Mateo stood speaking with two cardiologists. His white coat hung perfectly on his shoulders, every movement controlled, every word measured. From the outside, he looked exactly the same.Untouchable.Professional.But when his eyes lifted and found hers, something unspoken passed between them.He knew she had seen it.Lucas leaned over the desk beside her.“You look like you just read your own obituary.”She snapped the folder closed.“It’s nothing.”“That’s a lie.”“It’s paperwork.”He frowned slightly. “Compliance paperwork?”He

Morning arrived quietly. Not with alarms or rushing footsteps like Ariana’s usual workdays — but with soft light sliding slowly across the floor-to-ceiling windows. The city below was already awake.Traffic crawled through the wide Madrid streets, tiny cars gliding between tall stone buildings. A bakery across the street had opened its doors, and even from this height Ariana could see people gathering outside with paper bags and steaming coffee cups.Normal life.Ordinary.Which made the room behind her feel even more surreal. She lay still for a moment.Mateo’s arm rested heavily across her waist, anchoring her against his chest. His breathing was slow, deep, steady.Sleeping.The realization startled her slightly. She had never seen him like this.At the hospital he was always composed. Controlled. Alert. Every movement intentional. But here, in the quiet morning light, he looked… human. His dark hair was slightly disordered, his jaw relaxed, the tension usually carved into his face
