Chapter 43

Samantha's POV

For me, our lives didn't change that much, but for Jacob and Theo—it did, big time. I know they're having a hard time living a new life, which was far from their lives before. They said, we'll have a vacation on this island, turns out we will live a simple life like the other people here.

The island is private, but there are people living here. Most of them are families of fishermen, and they seem to love the life here.

"Sam."

I looked at my back and smiled at Shane. It's been a week since we got here on the island. Theo and Jacob went fishing every morning. Sometimes, they do that for our meal, but most of the time—to sell, so they can support us. They're enjoying their lives, I can see it, but I'm still worried that they'll eventually realize that they trade their lives for us. They sacrificed too much.

Shane stopped beside me, still sitting in his wheelchair. I'm just standing by the door, watching Jacob fixing the fishing net after they got back from the mid-sea.
