You are hurt," Elijah's eyes darkened as they zoomed in on her bleeding shoulders where four holes lay each. Subtly, his gaze shifted to the wolf who had done this to her, hiding somewhere in the fog he could sense, and he looked like he was about to snap.

"I... brought the book," Rhiannon said, and began pushing herself to her feet but her fingers were already swollen and red. It had gone numb from pain.

Instead, Elijah crouched down to meet her there. He remained silent, his facial muscles still tight with anger as he gently removed the bag from her shoulders.

"I'm sorry for everything you had to go through," He finally spoke, meeting her eyes.

"I'm fine," She replied, watching his tormented expression. Did he really care about her that much? "But I need to get back right now. They know the book is missing," She added and tried to stand up, but he firmly pressed down on her lap, keeping her seated.
