Selena.
“There is no evidence at all to prove that Luna Selena tried to hurt your mistress Alpha Lucian, you cannot just dethrone the Luna and punish her for a crime you cannot justify.” One of the elders said.
We were all gathered in the council hall where all the council meetings took place and since Lucian had called for one after the whole drama with Cindy so that he could punish me, everyone was seated at the table including Logan who was just brought up to speed on everything that had happened.
“She has to go. She just tried to harm the Alpha’s unborn child out of jealousy and the hatred inside of her.” Brinny said immediately after everyone was seated.
“That is a wrong move Brinny, have you forgotten the alliance her birth pack provides us?” An elder spoke up.
“That’s right, her father’s warriors are a major reason why we’ve been able to hold the rogues at bay. If we send her back, we lose that alliance.” Another chipped in.
“Think about everything the Luna had built. Everything she had worked so hard for, it would all go down the drain, and the pack would suffer immensely for it.” Another added.
“What has she done that our new Luna won’t be able to do?” Brinny shot back, “what has she done that is so special that no one else can do? This woman here just did what Selena would never do in all her years here. She is carrying an heir.”
“Brinny is right, we don’t need those warriors to keep the rogues at bay, once the word gets round that our Alpha has returned with an heir, our image and strength would be reinstated and the rogues would dare not attack.” One of the elders spoke up in support of Brinny.
I just sat there listening to them bicker on the matter. The whole thing hurt me more than I had imagined. How could they cast me aside so easily? How could my loyalty to this pack ever come under question? Years of dedication and what I got in return was a meeting where they bickered about if they should cast me aside or not.
I stared at Lucian, unsure if this was a dream or reality.
“Luna Selena would never harm an unborn child. She is nice and generous, she gives to the…” Katherine continued, but Lucian cut her off.
“So are you saying that my Luna is lying?” He snarled at her, and even though Katherine was fierce, she was still under his rule, so she was bound to cower under the fierce gaze of her Alpha.
Eventually, the elders agreed on one thing, and Lucian was denied the divorce he desperately wanted at that point. The meeting was called off, and as the elders walked out of the hall, he leaned closer to me, his tone harsher than it was before.
“You think you can take everything away from me? Well, think again, because from this moment onwards, you’re on your own, and I’ll make sure your life is miserable in this mansion. No witch tries to harm my Luna and unborn child and gets away with it.” He threatened, but I remained unfazed even though I was secretly breaking down inside.
“I’ll teach you a lesson you will never forget.” He added before he rose to his feet and walked off.
As I watched him leave, I couldn’t help but wonder what I had ever done wrong to deserve such hatred from the man who was supposed to be my partner forever. I had such huge plans for our marriage, and I really looked forward to starting a family with him.
The room soon became empty, and I was so lost in thought that I remained standing in there, wondering if this was the moon goddess trying to mock and punish me because I didn’t have a mate.
She had given me a partner, and just when I had begun to find happiness, she had ripped it away from me in such a painful manner.
What was I to do from here on out?
“Are you okay?” Logan’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
Logan was the only reason I had survived ruling this pack without Lucian’s help. At first, he was cold towards me and didn’t believe in my abilities when I first arrived, but he soon warmed up to me. He helped me make serious decisions and pointed out what I needed to take note of.
I was immensely grateful to him for everything.
“I am fine.” I forced a smile on my face and made for the door because I just wanted to be on my own but he immediately stepped in front of me and that was when I noticed the box in his hand.
He quietly placed it on the table, pulled out an ointment and some bandages before he reached out, and grabbed both my hands.
“You shouldn’t walk around like this.” He said softly as he began to clean out the bruises on my palms and the one at the back of my arm.
“Does it matter, Logan? He doesn’t want me anymore, even after everything,” I couldn’t hold back anymore, I just desperately needed to talk to someone before I lost it,
“It doesn’t make any sense, you know. He sent me all kinds of gifts while he was away, so why the sudden change? The messages, the gifts, this necklace…” I reached down and pulled up the necklace for him to see, and he sighed heavily as he glanced away from me.
There was some sort of hesitation on his path that I couldn’t help but notice before he opened his mouth to speak,
“Lucian didn’t send the necklace to Selena.”
