Ivonne’s POV

I kept stealing glances at the man beside me as the car hummed quietly down the wet road.

The rain drummed against the windows in a steady rhythm, but my mind was louder, sharper, filled with suspicion of this COMPLETE stranger I had just gotten in a car with.

His profile was calm, unreadable, like stone carved into the shape of a human face. But it was Too calm, if you asked me.

I still couldn’t believe I was even in this car with him!

Hours ago, I’d been sitting alone on a dark street corner, soaked to the bone, shivering in the icy rain with nowhere to go.

Uncle Mathew and his wife had practically slammed the door in my face after I yelled and cussed them out when they tried to pimp me out to some that, greasy old man who had the audacity to fancy an underage girl.

I had thought I’d seen the worst life had to offer me already, but apparently, I’d been wrong.

I had no home. No money. Not even a proper bag of clothes. Everything I had ever owned had been tied to Li

We can work with that.”Several of the older board members nod and start whispering to each other with bright, greedy eyes — like I just handed them the company’s future wrapped in a red ribbon.I sit there, frozen, feeling my stomach twist. They aren’t celebrating me. They’re celebrating the fact that it’ll only take a month to sink their hooks deeper into my life. What did I just do?I try to smile, but it feels forced. My throat’s dry. I can already feel Hector’s burning stare from beside me.The applause fades when he suddenly grabs my wrist and pulls me out of my chair.“Hector—”“Outside.” His voice is low, controlled, but there’s thunder behind it.He doesn’t wait for me to argue. He drags me out into the hallway, his grip firm but careful enough not to hurt. The door shuts behind us with a so

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Another marriage proposal

Ivonne’s POV Hector is practically vibrating with anger beside me now. I could feel him Seething. Silently. Dangerously. And I’m sitting right next to him, trying to hold myself together while the entire boardroom watches us like they’re waiting for someone to get stabbed with a pen. My pulse was already racing, but I forced a calm breath into my lungs. Losing my cool now will only make things worse. Hector’s anger was starting to feel like an electrical storm in the room — thick, sharp, crackling against my skin. It’s making my nerves jump in ways they have absolutely no business jumping. I straightened my back, smoothing my palms on the table, and finally speak. “Alright,” I say, sounding far calmer than I feel. “Before anything gets blown further out of proportion, I need to be very clear. I have never — not once — expressed romantic interest in Justin. And he never proposed to me.” Mr. Clarkson leaned back like he’s been waiting for his cue. “But did you, or did you not,

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Another proposal

Ivonne's pov "Well, that’s very interesting, Miss Ivonne,” Marcellus said smugly, “because we actually came here to discuss your marriage with Justin.”I blinked as The words hit me like a slap. “My—what?” I sputtered. "With who?"" Hector went completely still beside me. Not tense. Frozen. Like he was debating between homicide and world domination.I couldn't blame him, because how was a man supposed to react when he was informed that his fiancee was engaged to another person. Before I could even start to think about what to do, Hector sat up higher in his seat and let out a low growl of warning. Lincoln muttered, “Oh, God…” Something told me he was familiar with his Uncle's temper and currently didn't want to be here. Mr. Clarkson flipped a folder open. “As you know, Miss Ivonne, the board has been considering a merger with the Mr Justin's Corporation—” Justin’s family. My stomach twisted. “—and Justin Ravel has expressed personal interest in you. He also told us th

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    What next?

Ivonne's POVHector’s eyes darkened and he said. "I will tell you what really happened that night." I honestly felt like my mind blanked out when Hector leaned down and whispered those words.Like what did he mean?! My brain was still stuck on that when everything else started moving at a dizzying speed. I should’ve demanded he explain. I should’ve asked how that made sense when Tessa had just shown a literal video of Solenne plotting with her uncle. But Hector didn’t give me a second to form a coherent thought as he started lifting me out of the Stand. Then the next thing I knew, Marcellus—still red with humiliation—stormed up to us, barking, “Hector! wait! You cannot just—” Hector turned on him with such cold authority that even I flinched. “Elder Marcellus,” Hector said, voice dangerously calm, “interrogate Lady Solenne first. Now. Unless you wish to defy the court you claim to represent.” Marcellus actually stepped back. “You can’t order—” Hector moved closer. “Try me.”
