Avery's betrayal

**Avery’s Pov

"Her husband is fucking another woman!" A voice announced behind me.

“Really?” Another asked.

"Yes! because how else can an Alpha stay married to a disgusting, weak, pathetic commoner?!" She replied.

"I heard she killed her own mother! that's why the moon goddess stripped away her powers! She claims she has a wolf but she can't even shift! Who has ever heard of a Luna that can't shift?! How disgusting!"

I didn't need to turn around to know who they were.

It was Shuri my husbands ex and Erica, her minion. They were two noblewomen born into the pack’s elite royal bloodline.

I am not a weak woman, and trust me when I say that every inch of my skin itched to break their noses, but I couldn't do that.

Their fathers were powerful lawmakers of the pack, so no matter how much they bullied me, I could not do anything. Because even though I was the Luna, I was a weak werewolf who still couldn’t shift.

Their insults continued and I was quickly losing my patience, I was just about to turn and give them a piece of my mind, but suddenly, another voice interrupted us.

"Hello girls, why don't you go find something else to do and give our Luna some air to breathe."

I turned and saw my savior, Uncle Luther, my husband's tall, young, dark haired, handsome Uncle coming to my rescue.

The girls started to protest but one icy glare from Luther sent them scurrying away.

Luther was just as powerful as all the Elite noble men. No one dared mess with him.

He smiled at me. “Don't listen to those bitter pests Avery. James loves you and only you. Don't let them get to you."

I smiled back at him. "Thank you so much uncle.”

It was evening and my pack had just finished celebrating the end of a lunar eclipse in our house.

Everyone had been partying, and i had watched with pride as my husband graced everyone with his beautiful smile and enchanting eyes.

It was the same smile that stole my heart 3 years ago and made it impossible to refuse when he asked me to marry him just a few weeks after our first meeting.

Of course I was worried that we were rushing things plus the fact that i was a commoner who couldn’t shift, but James had sworn by the heavens and the earth that he was hopelessly in love with me, and he would do anything to have me as quickly as possible.

How could I say no to that? … How could I say no to a handsome, powerful young Alpha who was humble enough to choose me— a weak, forgettable commoner as his mate?

I was nothing special at all. In fact, I wasn’t half as pretty or as powerful as all the noble women who were constantly throwing themselves at him. But James only had eyes for me. He loved me for me, and I loved him too.

We wedded immediately and it was the best day of my life. The only down side was that my beloved baby sister —Lizzy who was studying abroad couldn’t make it to the wedding. I missed her dearly.

But besides that, everything was perfect. I married the love of my life, Alpha James.

As the Lunar eclipse celebration was rounding up, my husband kissed my cheek and went upstairs to change into something more comfortable. I stayed back to supervise the festivities for a while until Logan, one of our youngest warriors approached me with a bow.

“Good evening Luna, Miss Elizabeth has been looking for you.” He announced.

I blinked twice. “Miss Elizabeth? …Lizzy?... My sister?”

“Yes Ma’am.”

I shook my head with a smile. “No, you must be mistaken. Lizzy is far down south, and she isn’t supposed to return till next year.”

But Logan was adamant. “I’m sure ma’am... perhaps she was planning to surprise you.”

I couldn’t believe my ears! Lizzy was here? She had finally returned to me?!

My Lizzy was just 19, born of noble blood, and even though I was older than her with just 5 years, it felt like she was my baby, because I practically helped raise her.

After my mum died, my father had married Lizzy's mother --the super elite, noble born Miss Susan.

Miss Susan was nice, but also a noblewoman and the only heir of a powerful noble man, so she and my father were always too busy with politics to care for us.

Lizzy was a blonde and strikingly beautiful noblewoman, with big blue innocent eyes. She was my perfect angel. Before I met James, Lizzy had been the closest person in the world to me.

“Where is she?!” I practically screeched at the poor boy.

“Um— up- upstairs, she thought you might be in your room ma’am.”

I rushed past him, taking the stairs three at a time. I would have flown if I could. That’s how badly I missed Lizzy.

I was practically panting when I finally got to the front of my room, and then I suddenly heard it.

The sound of a woman Moaning.

I froze for a moment as my head struggled to process what I was hearing. Was this a mistake? Was I at the right room?

I felt a sudden sharp burn on my neck, where mate’s mark was but I ignored it.

I placed my hand on the door, and pushed it open. But I immediately regretted doing so.

Because in front of me, on the bed that I shared with my husband was my sister Lizzy, lying with her clothes ripped, and my husband lying shirtless between her legs.

He was hungrily kissing her neck while passionately grinding his hips against her.

I watched in horror as my sister continued to moan with closed eyes as she rubbed her hips against his. She was clawing his back and trying to pull off his pants, clearly eager for more.

I wanted to puke. I wanted to puke and die. This couldn’t be happening. This couldn’t be real!

The dizziness and the burning sensation came back with a vengeance and I slumped against the open door, making it slam against the wall with a loud bang.

The sound shocked them and I watched James jump away from her like he had been burned with hot coal.

Lizzy quickly got up and scrambled to close her torn dress. She refused to look at me.

“Avery…” James gasped but I held my hand up to shut him up. Tears were already pouring down my face as the reality of what I had just seen began to hit me.

“What the fuck James?! Why would you do this to me?” I cried.

“Avery… baby, I can explain, it’s not what it looks like—-“ He said, trying to hold my hands but I shoved him away.

“It’s not what it looks like?! So I didn’t just catch you trying to fuck my own sister?! On our bed?!” I furiously wiped my tears away and glared at him.

James bowed his head and I noticed his Adam apple bobbing nervously. There was shame and guilt written all over his face.

“I’m so sorry Avery… it wasn’t supposed to happen this way. I’m so sorry Avery, please believe me. It wasn’t our fault.”

I barked out a dry laugh. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“It’s not your fault? So it’s mine then? I didn’t see anyone forcing you with a knife to your neck so what the hell are you talking about James?!”

“Avery… Lizzy is… I and Lizzy are—“

“James and I are fated mates sister.” Lizzy’s finally spoke, coming to stand behind my husband. “Your husband is my fated mate.”

I felt my heart stop and my blood run cold. Mates? What was she talking about?

I looked at James in confusion and he slowly nodded. “It’s true Avery, your sister is my mate. She came here looking for you, and when I saw her, I just knew immediately. I tried to leave but my wolf overwhelmed me — I’m so sorry Avery.”

The dizziness got worse and crashed painfully to the floor. What was happening? Was this some sort of cruel joke? I didn’t know, I couldn’t answer, my head was spinning too fast to think clearly.

“Avery..” James moved forward like he wanted to pick me up but Lizzy grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

Seeing her hand on him made me finally burst into tears. This wasn’t a nightmare, this was really happening. My husband had found his fated mate, and she was my baby sister.

I tried to force the tears away and collect myself. I couldn’t sit crying on the floor, I was the fucking Luna of the spring pack for heaven’s sake!

I wiped my tears away and slowly got up to my feet, then I looked at James dead in the eyes.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Reject her.” I said coldly.
