A lady arrived moments later, her expression a mix of concern and professionalism as she approached my bedside.

"Lucienne. I'm Doctor Hayes. How are you feeling?" she asked, her voice gentle yet authoritative.

"I'm... I'm not sure," I admitted, my hands trembling as I clutched at the thin hospital blanket. "There was this… feeling, this pain. It felt like... like someone was tearing me apart from the inside."

Doctor Hayes nodded, her brow furrowing in thought. "I see. Well, we'll need to run some tests to figure out what's going on. But first, let's make sure you're stable."

Over the next hour, I underwent a battery of examinations and scans, each one more invasive than the last. Needles pricked my skin, machines hummed and whirred around me, and all the while, I felt like a specimen under a microscope, scrutinized and prodded for answers I couldn't even provide.
