From the moment I saw her by my side looking all pretty, I knew for a fact that my Lucienne was returning. When she asked me if she was special, I badly wanted to hold her waist, pull her close to me, then give her a peck on the forehead and tell her she was more than that.

I tried so much to avoid her gaze and touch during this dinner because it was doing crazy things to my wolf and me but she just had to ask me a question, while batting those twinkling siren eyes.

“I don't know how to explain it. I just feel a bond to you that makes me want to keep you by my side,” I told the half-truth and she nodded before looking away then I took a deep breath trying to calm my wolf and the tension he was building inside of me.

Lucienne was not mine. She was just my friend, my assistant. Thoughts of kissing her should not be in my head.

“Says the man who has fantasized about it since childhood,” My wolf hissed with an eye roll that almost made me choke on the food I was eating.
