BULLET & SEX

~LAUREN POV~

The silence of the room settled around me again, but it felt less oppressive now. I stood up, my legs steadier than before, and stared at the gun on the table.

Tonight I'd been prepared to use it…to take a life to save my own. The thought sent a chill through me.

I needed to clear my head.

Stripping off my clothes as I walked, I made my way to the bathroom, letting the hot water floodgate away the fear and adrenaline that clung to my skin.

I stayed under the spray until my fingertips wrinkled and my mind quieted.

Wrapped in a towel, I padded back to the bedroom, drying myself methodically before pulling on one of Alexandro's shirts I'd claimed as my own.

The soft cotton fell to mid-thigh, carrying a trace of his scent.

My throat felt dry and dried out from the night's events. I made my way to the kitchen, remembering the wine cabinet Alexandro had shown me the first night.

I found an unopened bottle of red, uncorked it with practiced ease, and took a long

A GOOD MORNING ~ALEXANDRO'S POV~The morning light came through the sheer curtains, softly lighting the room. I woke up, still feeling sleepy, but the warmth next to me was too nice to ignore.Lauren's breath was calm against my chest, and her hair spread across my arm like silk. I moved a bit, my hand brushing her waist, and she softly murmured something I couldn't make out, pressing closer to me. It was one of those mornings when everything felt still, caught in a perfect moment—until it wasn't.I don't know what sparked it first, maybe the way her thigh pressed against mine, or the faint scent of her skin, still carrying the trace of last night's perfume. Something sparked to life slowly and carefully, like a flame touching dry wood. I turned onto my side to face her. Her eyes opened, still heavy with sleep, but twinkling with a new desire. Something hungry."Good morning," I muttered, my voice rough with the effect of the moment. She smiled, her lips curving into that wicked l

MAMA’S BOY ~ALEXANDRO'S POV~I led Lauren by the hand toward the dining room, still feeling the warmth of her skin against mine. The morning light streamed through the large windows, giving the room a golden glow. Lauren looked around at the empty table with a raised eyebrow."Where's breakfast?" she asked, her voice playful."I'm making it," I told her with a smile. "Sit back and wait."She settled into one of the chairs, watching me with curious eyes. I held up a finger, signaling for her to wait, and walked to the side door that led to the garden. I stepped outside for a moment, breathing in the fresh morning air as I cut several red roses from the bushes my staff tended daily. I arranged them quickly into a simple bouquet and returned to the dining room.Lauren's eyes widened when she saw the flowers. I placed them in front of her and leaned down to kiss her, soft and tender."You're spoiling me," she said against my lips, her fingers gently touching the rose petals."That's my

MEANINGFUL ACT ~LAUREN'S POV~I wanted to ask him so many questions, but I chose not to. I hated that he always had to drop everything just so he could go stand between enemies wanting to kill him or ruin him.But I knew this was what I had agreed to. When such moments came, I just had to accept it. The ride back to New York was quiet, mainly because Alexandro was on calls throughout the plane ride. I stared out the window at the endless blue sky, my mind racing.I was going back home, to my life, my job, and back to dealing with my cheating ex-boyfriend Patrick and his crazy fiancée Rosette. I knew I was in for a confrontation with Rosette when I got back to work…how I was taking more breaks than she who was engaged. The thought made my stomach tighten. What were Rosette and Patrick plotting against me now? Were they still feeding information to Julian Blackwood? THE BETRAYAL~LAUREN~My chest constricted as Patrick's words struck me like a physical blow. I remained motionless, attempting to grasp the severity of what he was saying, but my mind struggled to keep up. The tears I was trying to hold back would not fall, even though every part of me urged me to release them. "You're not the right fit for me, Lauren. I need someone who can help me improve." My voice barely escaped my lips. "Fifteen days before Christmas?" He shrugged, the icy indifference in his gaze piercing deeper than any insult could. "I can't wait any longer."This had to be a nightmare. I stared at him in disbelief, my thoughts swirling like a tornado. How could he do this? After everything—after three years of shared memories, plans for the future, promises of forever. We had already talked about getting married after the holidays. I had been picturing it, imagining how beautiful it would be. And now, this. My heart splintered into a thousand jagged pieces. He cou

TWO-TIMINGA tempest of emotions swirled within me. What the hell was Patrick doing here? And why was Rosette calling him “babe”? Was this some sort of cruel joke? “Patrick, what are you doing here?” I demanded, struggling to mask the hurt and curiosity in my voice. Rosette shot him a look, her lips pressed into a thin line, her eyes flicking between us like a ticking clock. The strange glances from Lilac, Fatimah, and our other coworkers only intensified the gnawing anxiety in my gut. “Handle this,” Rosette said tersely, her tone sharp as glass. Patrick stepped toward me, his grip tightening around my arm as he yanked me away from the group. Pain shot through me, but I fought to free myself from his grasp. “Let go of me, you lying cheat!” I shouted, my palm striking his cheek with a crack that silenced the room. Gasps rippled through the air, every pair of eyes locked on us in stunned disbelief. “Are you done?” Patrick snapped, his jaw tight, the warmth I once loved in hi

THE NEW BOYFRIEND~LAUREN~I slipped into my sleek black dress—the one I’d worn to my best friend’s wedding. As I straightened my hair and stepped into matching silver heels, I caught my reflection in the mirror. My glasses framed my face, and though I’d never thought of myself as glamorous, tonight I felt just a little confident. Dressing up wasn’t the problem; it was the judgment that came with it. And tonight, with everything that had happened, I wasn’t sure I could stomach it. Grabbing my silver purse, I took a deep breath and left my room. The resort's hallway stretched before me, leading toward the sound of chatter in the garden. Each step felt heavier, a reminder of the betrayal I was trying so hard to ignore. Rosette and Patrick’s faces flashed in my mind, and I silently prayed I wouldn’t run into them tonight. The garden was filled with elegantly dressed guests, their polished appearances marking them as anything but ordinary. My coworkers—Lilac, Fatimah, and Malcolm

ALEXANDRO LEX CASTELLO ~LAUREN’S POV~Rosette and Patrick turned their attention to me, their gazes sharp with surprise. I couldn’t blame them—it wasn’t every day you pointed to a man who looked like that and claimed he was yours. Now that I’d taken a proper look at him, he was clearly out of my league. “You mean him?” Rosette asked, her brows raised as if she hadn’t heard me correctly. “Yes, Rose. That’s him. My boyfriend,” I said, forcing the words out as casually as I could manage. Patrick narrowed his eyes suspiciously. I could feel his disbelief piercing through me, but I refused to meet his gaze. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of questioning me, even if I was inwardly screaming at myself for the lie. I had just told my ex and his fiancée that a complete stranger—a man I’d never spoken to in my life—was my boyfriend. What was I thinking?I prayed silently that they wouldn’t ask me to talk to him. Patrick knew me too well—he knew I was terrible at lying. If the

PLAY ALONG.~ALEXANDRO'S POV ~The call came late last night, dragging me into yet another meaningless gala. Mario's words had been clear: my presence was non-negotiable. A luxurious resort. A room full of ambitious elites. A night of clinking glasses and false laughter. It was the last place I wanted to be, but the stakes were too high to ignore. The merger hinged on this event, and if enduring a parade of shallow pleasantries was the price to pay, so be it. I'd built my empire on sacrifices far greater than this. But the resignation didn't stop the irritation from simmering. That was until I saw her. The woman from the garden. She'd caught my eye earlier, strolling amidst the manicured grass like she didn't belong. Her hazel eyes had been a storm of exhaustion and defiance, a look that lingered in my mind long after she disappeared. And now, here she was again, standing awkwardly in this sea of pretense. Her dress—pale lavender and poorly fitted—betrayed her. It slumpe

FEAR~LAUREN'S POV~The gun lay on the coffee table, cold and innocent-looking despite what I'd almost done with it hours earlier. My fingers wouldn't stop trembling. I curled them into fists, then stretched them out again, watching the subtle shake with detached fascination."Señorita? More tea?" Julio stood in the doorway, his normally patient face etched with concern.I shook my head. "I'm fine, thank you."He didn't move, his dark eyes assessing me with the scrutiny of someone who'd seen shock before. The cut above his eye had been cleaned and bandaged, but the bruising was already spreading, proof of how hard he'd fought when they took me."Did you know?" I asked suddenly. "Is that why you and Mario came with him to Mexico? Because you knew this was going to happen?"Julio's face didn't change, but something flashed in his eyes. He answered in a soft flow of Spanish before switching to English."Sí. We knew something would happen. But not this... this was different." He gesture

BLOOD TIES 2~ALEXANDRO’S POV~A door at the end of the corridor stood ajar. I moved toward silently, gun ready, and peeked through the crack.Lauren stood in the center of my father's old study, her red dress a splash of blood against the dark wood paneling. A thin, silver-haired man circled her like a predator. I had not seen him in years, but I knew immediately who he was—Viktor Kuznetsov."...quite the journalist, from what I hear," he was saying, his accent thickly Russian despite decades in Mexico. "Always seeking the truth. I wonder if Alexandro has told you the truth about himself?"Lauren's chin lifted stubbornly. "I know enough."Kuznetsov laughed, the sound like ice cracking. "You know nothing, Miss McQueen. Nothing about the boy whose mother chose another man over me. The boy I've waited twenty-eight years to destroy.""Let her go." I pushed the door open, keeping my gun trained on him. "She has nothing to do with this."Kuznetsov turned, those cold gray eyes lighting wit

BLOOD TIES 1~ALEXANDRO'S POV~The gun's weight pressed against my lower back as I watched Leonardo come closer. Seven years of anger, betrayal, and unspoken feelings hung between us like a dangerous obstacle.I could feel Mario tensing beside me, his hand already sliding beneath his jacket. With a quiet move, I stopped him. This wasn't the time. Not yet."Brother," Leonardo's voice cut through the murmur of the ballroom, carrying that same mocking tone he'd perfected as a teenager. "What a lovely party you've thrown."His eyes…so like his father's…scanned the rich surroundings before settling on the space Lauren had occupied moments before."Where's your beautiful date? I was so looking forward to meeting her."The threat in his words was unmistakable. I kept my expression neutral even as rage coiled inside me like a viper."Somewhere you can't touch her," I replied, my voice steady. "This is between us."Leonardo's smile didn't reach his eyes. DANGEROUS TRUTHS~LAUREN'S POV~The gun's weight pressed against my thigh, tucked away in a special pocket in my red dress. I wondered if Alexandro had planned this all along—the dress, the gun, and maybe even getting me involved. The thought stung more than it should have.I watched him from across the ballroom as he spoke with a silver-haired man whose friendly smile didn't reach his eyes. Alexandro looked relaxed, but I could see the tension in his shoulders. He kept scanning the room carefully."May I have this dance?"I turned to find Mario standing beside me, hand stretched out, his trademark easy smile in place. Unlike Alexandro, whose every expression seemed preplanned, Mario's charm appeared genuine—though no less dangerous."I believe my date might object," I replied, glancing toward Alexandro.Mario's smile widened. "He sent me over. Wants you to look like you're having fun while he handles some business." He wiggled his fingers invitingly. "Come on, I'm a much better d

HIDDEN AGENDAS~ALEXANDRO'S POV~The gala was lively, filled with Mexico's elite wearing designer clothes and diamond masks. The ballroom of Villa Esperanza shone with expensive chandeliers that cost more than most homes, reflecting the wealth and power around us.And at the center of it all was Lauren, breathtaking in a crimson gown that clung to her curves like my hands had last night. My hands tightened on my whiskey glass as I watched her laugh at something an older gentleman said. Her head leaned back, exposing the tasteful line of her throat, and for a moment, I forgot why we were here."Your girlfriend is quite the charmer," a voice murmured beside me. Felix Navarro appeared at my side, his silver mask doing little to hide the predatory twinkle in his eyes. "Antonio Medina hasn't taken his eyes off her all evening."I took a slow sip of my drink. "Antonio always did have excellent taste.""And poor judgment," Felix added with a smirk. "Speaking of which, are we still on for o
