Chapter 5: Dating and Problems

Alexa doesn’t know what to tell Daniel. He immediately confesses at her. Now she doesn’t know what to do. Whether to acknowledge it or leave it be. After what happened to Alexa’s house. They arrive at the hospital. They entered the room and sees lots of people in it. Some are Alexa’s workmates and Lily’s family. Their family friends are also there. Her mother is now awake and when she see Alexa she cried.

“Oh my baby,” Rita said

“Mom,” Alexa said. “I’m so sorry,” Alexa added.

“Oh baby, it wasn’t your fault. Please don’t blame yourself my poor child,” Rita explained

Daniel makes everyone leave the room to give some space for Alexa and her mother. They all sat at the chairs in the side of the hospital and waits. Alexa and her mother talk for a bit. Alexa confess everything that her mother has done in the past. Her mother couldn’t take it in and cried. She didn’t know that Alexa has led a troubled life because of her. Her mother says sorry for everything that Alexa had experienced. She also promised that Alexa will not suffer anymore and that she will try to be the best mother she could have. After that everyone has left except Lily and Daniel. Daniel still waits outside while Lily enters the room. Lily told Alexa that everyone has left and only her and Daniel is here. Then Lily told Alexa’s mother about Daniel.

“So his name is Daniel?” Rita ask

“Mom please,” Alexa said

“Oh come on Alexa, tell her. She is your mom and she deserves to know,” Lily says while grinning

“It was nothing,” Alexa said

“No way, tell us Alexa,” Lily said

“Okay fine, he confesses to me last night,” Alexa said

“What did he confess?” Rita ask her

“That he love me mom,” Alexa answered

Both Lily and Rita screamed at what Alexa said. They all then started laughing.

“What is the work of that Daniel?” Rita ask

“Daniel is a CEO at a very good company,” Lily said

“Lily!” Alexa shouted

“So he is a rich and also handsome,” Rita said

“It is not like that mom,” Alexa said

Suddenly Daniel appeared at their backs and they all shut up.

“I know you are talking about me,” Daniel said

“It’s not like that Daniel,” Alexa explained

“No, it’s fine. Since you are already talking about me and that two of the people who love Alexa the most is here. I have something to tell you. I plan to court Alexa so please allow me,” Daniel said

They are all shock at what Daniel have said. They look at each other and couldn’t even tell any words.

“As her mother. I wanted Alexa to get to know the guy before agreeing to be his girl,” Rita said

“And as her best friend. I want you to date first to get to know each other,” Lily said

“Lily, Mom!” Alexa shouted

“Of course, as you wish,” Daniel said

After that a nurse appear and took some vital signs at Alexa’s mother. Then walks away from the room quietly. After a few minutes the doctor appear and told them some good news. It is that Rita can now go home and be discharge. Alexa didn’t waste time anymore and took care of her mother’s papers and filled it. Daniel pays for the bill and ask for a prescription for Alexa’s mother. Lily packs everything at the room and help Rita get dressed. They are all in the car quietly looking at every passing car. They got home in no time and Daniel helps Lily carry the bags while Alexa helps her mother walk. After they were all in the living room, Alexa took all the bags upstairs and other stuffs at the kitchen. Lily goes upstairs and unpacks everything. She also fold the cloths and put it right where it should be. Daniel help Alexa at the kitchen put back the foods at the cabinet and at the refrigerator. Rita is in the sofa, lying down and getting some rest after they travelled. Alexa settles down with her mother for a while until Daniel joins them and so does Lily. Then Daniel speaks.

“I think I should live her with you,” Daniel said

“What?” Alexa said

“I mean you kind of need some help here. You need a guy in the household. You have plenty of vacant rooms here. You have such a big house and plus your mother is ill and sometimes you are not here so you need some help here,” Daniel explained

“But you are also going to work,” Alexa said

“But I can leave whenever I want to. Plus I can tell Arthur to stay here,” Daniel explained

“He is right Alexa, it is hard for me to move now. I need someone here,” Rita said

“Wait, wait, wait,” Lily said. “You are not the only one who’s going to stay here,” Lily added.

“What?” Alexa said

“I am now going to work from home since my work doesn’t really need too much appearance. I am also going to stay here and help,” Lily explained

“I don’t like your ideas,” Alexa said

“Oh come one Alexa. You don’t own the house. I get to decide on this one and they are staying with us,” Rita said

Lily and Daniel high five at each other but Alexa just let out a sigh of defeat. They all talk about the rooms they are going to stay in. Lily has already left to get her things and so does Daniel. Alexa is left with her mother whom she confronted.

“Mom are you sure?” Alexa said

“Alexa we need some people here just in case something happened,” Rita explained to her

“Okay mom,” Alexa said in defeat

After a few hours a truck arrive. Three people went down. Alexa sees Daniel in the front and Isolde and Arthur are behind him. They all carry some bags and boxes. They got inside the house and greeted Alexa and her mother then proceeds to the room upstairs. Alexa saw the truck lowering some stuff. She then saw Isolde jug at the stair and into the doorway to get the remaining stuffs at the truck. Arthur then runs after her and helps her. They both took their belongings upstairs. Then later Daniel walks down.

“I’m sorry for the mess,” Daniel said

“I just didn’t know all of you would move here,” Alexa said

After that she then saw Lily’s van parked outside. She saw the brothers of Lily hops down the van and took some bags and boxes too. Then Lily is behind them carrying some other stuffs too. They all entered the house like they all live there. Well now they all truly live at Alexa’s house. Alexa got a bit irritated at what is happening. She goes to her room to release all the anger. She organizes some of her stuffs to relax but she can still here the chattering and yammering from the people that live by them. She then goes outside and shout.

“ALL OF YOU IN THE LIVING ROOM NOW!!” Alexa shouted

All of them hurried their way downstairs to the living room. They sat at the sofa and so does Alexa’s mother.

“What is happening?” Rita ask

“As you can see mom our house has been an orphanage of people,” Alexa explained

“Well I thought we are here to help?” Lily ask

“Yes, we are Lily but Alexa seems irritated by the situation,” Daniel said

“Well of course. You are all yelling and chattering. I was supposed to be relaxing but I can’t relax with all of you here because I here all your noises,” Alexa said

“We are very sorry, we will try to do things quietly,” Lily said

They agreed and nod then proceed to what they are doing. Alexa and Rita stayed at the living room.

“Don’t worry, we will be fine,” Rita said

“I hope so,” Alexa said then she runs to her room and shut it. She really felt that this moving up thing is a bad thing. They were used to being quiet but now almost five people lives in their house all of a sudden. In order to get away from the situation she’s in, she decided to sleep. She have slept for a while and wakes up when she saw Daniel sitting beside her. He looks at her and tells her that the food is ready. She got up and followed Daniel.

“Hey Alexa,” Lily said

“Let us eat now,” Rita said

They all eat while smiling. Everyone talk about something and Alexa is eating on her own till Daniel speaks to her.

“Are you okay?” Daniel ask

“Yes,” Alexa said

But Daniel felt the frustration in Alexa’s voice. He proceeds on eating and talking to other people and let Alexa have her space. They all finish in no time and started doing some choirs. Lily and Isolde did the dishes while Arthur sweep the floor. Daniel wipes the surfaces of everything he sees. Everyone is so busy at the house doing something while Alexa watches them all. When she sees that everyone is done. She went to her room again. Daniel followed her and sees that she is sitting by the window of her room.

“I know you are not okay,” Daniel said. “I am sorry for doing this without consulting you,” he added.

“It wasn’t still my decision to make, it’s my mom,” Alexa said

“If you want, we can leave tomorrow. I’m just going to make some excuse for your mother,” Daniel said

“No, it is fine, don’t worry,” Alexa said. “I’m just not use to people living here. It was just me and my mom when Lily came and then you came,” she added.

“I get that,” Daniel said

“How about you? I don’t know anything about you like literally don’t know anything,” Alexa said

“Yeah, you make me, a total stranger live in your home with my friends also here,” Daniel said while laughing.

“Isn’t that bad?” Alexa said. “This is why I can’t answer you about your confession of feelings. It’s because I don’t know you yet. I felt something but that doesn’t mean I should not get to know you,” she explained.

“I understand that,” Daniel said

“And now you are living here with me, with my mom because she expected that I know you very well but Daniel. I don’t know you, not even your last name. I don’t really trust you,” Alexa said

“Well here’s to dating and its problems,” Daniel said. “It is actually the sad thing in the present times. People doesn’t care about other people’s personality. They only care about the looks and that is what they only see also the rich part. They doesn’t care whether you have a bad attitude,” Daniel said.

“That is why I am trying to get to know you,” Alexa said

“Well I’m going to tell you my story now,” Daniel said

“I’m listening,” Alexa said

“We are from France, me, Isolde and Arthur. My mother’s name is Maia and my father’s name is Kai,” Daniel said. “Well my childhood is just like any other kind childhoods. Mine is also rich and very fruitful. I am very good at school so I don’t have trouble getting into other prestigious schools. I have trained my intellectual skills and capacity that is why I can learn well. I also have various fighting skills. I know martial arts like karate and taekwondo. I also do kick boxing and shadow boxing. Isolde is my trainer since because she is a few years older than me and Arthur has been my best friend since we both go to Isolde’s class. We are both trained by her and my father hired her to be my guardian like bodyguard. Arthur too has been hired to keep me company and such,” Daniel said.

“Why does your father hired a bodyguard for you?” Alexa ask

“Because he suspects that someone will assassinate me,” Daniel said

“It is really hard being rich,” Alexa said

“To continue, Isolde train me and shape me into a fighter so I can protect myself when I am alone and when they are gone. Until now we still train for a while,” Daniel said. “We move here when my parents died. They were killed and we have to move away. I had no other choice but to start over again. Until now we are still here,” Daniel said.

“I’m sorry about that,” Alexa said

“It is fine. It has been a long time,” Daniel said

“Did they catch the killer?” Alexa ask

“No,” Daniel replied

“Wow, France need to do something about that,” Alexa said

Daniel just laughs at what Alexa have said. Daniel couldn’t tell Alexa the truth about him and his origins but he thought that he will tell her, not now but soon. He didn’t want to scare off Alexa and then lose her forever. He just can’t tell her about who he really is. After they talk about certain things about Daniel’s life. They decided to go downstairs and see what everyone is doing. They all saw them lying in the floor and in the sofa watching movies. They all looks at Daniel and Alexa.

“You used some protection right?” Lily said as she teases them then Isolde and Arthur laughs.

They all settled down in different positions while watching the movies. Alexa and Daniel also joins them. Rita has made some popcorns for all of them. Alexa looks at Daniel and she felt like she trust him for a bit now. Daniel also looks at Alexa and hopes that everyday could be like this. Complete and happy.

The next morning, Alexa wakes ups. She saw Isolde making some foods and Arthur is cleaning the house while Lily is sitting on the floor sipping her coffee.

“The food is ready,” Isolde said

“I’m going to eat only for a bit,” Alexa said to Isolde

“Come sit here with me,” Lily said. Alexa took some bread and the hams Isolde cooked. She sat beside Lily and ate her bread. She also got a glass of water but Isolde offered her some tea but she refuses.

“Isolde, where is Daniel?” Alexa ask

“Daniel has left for work,” Isolde replied

“Are you all going to work?” Alexa ask again

“Yes, we are going to take you to work too if you like,” Isolde replied

“Okay,” Alexa finishes her meal and then goes to her room to shower. She had also prepared her cloths and got ready for work. After an hour or so, she is ready. Isolde is also waiting for her to get in the car. She leaves the house and bid farewell to her mother who is still sleeping. She also said goodbye to Lily and told Arthur to protect them. She runs outside and nearly trip but Isolde catch her. They both entered the car and drive for work. They got there for almost 30 minutes because there is some traffic at the east street because an accident happened. They entered the building immediately. The Alexa notices people whispers as they saw her.

“Isn’t that the personal assistant of Mr. Daniel?” the girl ask  

“Yes, I heard they are together,” the other guy said

“Don’t mess with her. Their team leader got fired because of her,” the other girl said

“Could you please go to work,” Isolde said

Alexa just didn’t listen to what the other people have said. Isolde have push them away now. Alexa arrive at her department and Isolde has left but before she goes.

“Thank you Isolde,” Alexa said

“They don’t know anything,” Isolde said

Then Isolde said her goodbye’s to Alexa. Alexa now proceeds to her department. She greeted everyone but they all seems angry at her. She then realize that she has been the team leader now whether she agreed or not to what Daniel said. She proceeds to her office and she glances at it. She saw new cabinets and other new stuffs Daniel have installed for her.

“She is our new team leader?” the girl outside ask

“Yes because she flirted with the boss,” the other girl said

“Maybe I should also flirt with the boss. He even falls for her slutty charm so maybe that will also work on me,” some other girl said

People outside her office has been chattering all morning and Alexa ignored all of it. She focuses on her job. It was lunch break and Alexa goes to the cafeteria to eat some food. She still hears people talking about her as she walks beside them. She can also see eyes looking at her from top to bottom like somehow they analyzes how she caught the eyes of the boss. She thought to herself that she wasn’t that ugly and somehow she is intellectually good. So why do this people judge her when she know nothing is wrong. She kept ignoring them even if some of them is below the belt.

“Maybe you like a steak and wine social climber,” the service lady at the cafeteria told her. Everyone at the room laughs at what the service lady told Alexa. She just ignored it since she doesn’t want to fight them. She then sat at the center table where no one eats. All people looks at her with disgust. They were all talking about her.

“I heard that Mr. Daniel has a girlfriend before her,” the girl sitting in front of Alexa said

“Yes and that she is the reason why they broke up,” the other girl said

“So she ruins relationships huh,” the girl said

Alexa stood up when a girl appears in front of her and slaps her food. Her food has spilled all over the floor and the Janitor gets angry at Alexa.

“I just clean up that area. You missy will clean this up,” the janitor said

“But it’s not me,” Alexa said

“You really still answers huh,” the girl in front of Alexa said

“I’m sorry,” Alexa said and then the girl slaps her. She can hear everyone laughing at her and them saying that she deserves it. She also hears lots of other stuffs about her. Some really bad stuffs. She just ignored them and then she stood up and walks away but the girl kick her from behind causing her to fall again. Then she hears people laugh again. She runs outside and goes to the bathroom. She cried there because she couldn’t take it all in anymore. She wipes the tears with the back of her hand when a group of females enters the bathroom. She heard them talking about her.

“I can say that he definitely seduce Mr. Daniel,” the girl said

“She ruins Mr. Daniel’s reputation,” the other girl said

She didn’t leave the bathroom until the group of girls leave. When they leave she can see again the looks that people give her. She immediately goes to Daniel’s office. When she got there, Isolde saw her and she walks inside the room quickly.

“I’m resigning,” Alexa said. “Lily will submit my papers tomorrow,” she added

“What are you talking about?” Daniel asks her

“I’m resigning. You are also leaving the house,” Alexa said

Daniel got shocked to what he heard and thinks about some possible reason why Alexa said that. Alexa then leaves the office and so does the company. She goes out the building and ride into a cab. She can still see people at the door way saying something but she didn’t care anymore. She goes home after that.
