At first Lulu was glued in his embrace, and wondered why there was so much worry in his eyes.

He set her to her feet and scolded, "what was that for?! Are you planning on hurting the child?"

"I was not..."

"What is wrong with you?!" He raised his voice.

She cowered a little, not enjoying his anger at all.

"I didn't mean to, I'm sorry it was unintentional and ...."

David noticed how she was clenching her fists, this seemed to be an habit of hers.

He shut his eyes tight, he didn't want to have this woman be afraid of him, she would be living here for a long time.

He brought down the harshness in his voice, "what were you looking for?"

"I was just bored a little and I wanted to read a book."

Her voice was so low he would have missed it if he wasn't paying attention.

He picked the book she had been trying to reach and handed it over to her.

"I was looking for you."
