Both of them stared at each other silently, empty green eyes fixed on stormy blue ones. A car hooting in the distance at the same time Nirvana felt a silent skip in her heart; she blinked in confusion before she yanked her hand away from him.

“Don’t touch me.” She snapped.

“You were falling.” He still remained unbothered.

“And you were waiting for an excuse.”

He didn’t let go, if nothing, he tightened his grip on her as she stood straight. She gave him a meaningful glare but he pretended not to see it as he furrowed his brow at her and checked her appearance.

To Nirvana’s shock and surprise, concern appeared fleetingly but lingered enough that Nirvana caught sight of it.

“You are exhausted. You shouldn’t even be here.”

She had thought him a robot, perfectly incapable of even the tiniest bit of emotion –but this development proved her wrong and left her unsure of a reply.

His concern felt as real as it looked, even his tone was mildly filtered with warmth.

“And that is why I am leaving

“Nice to meet you all, I am Morgan Collin.” The red-haired standing beside Austin said with a bright smile. Her smile was genuine, innocent and as carefree as Kaitlyn remembered it to be. It had been thirteen years since Kaitlyn had last heard from her and there was still that spring to her words that brought refreshing liveliness to the room. “Take a seat, Morgan.” Austin said, directing Morgan to the seat that Calvin had stood up from in order to make sure his brother wasn’t too far from his guest. “Nice to meet you too, Ms. Collin. I heard you were overseas for an important project, is it done now?” Calvin asked as soon as Morgan settled comfortably on the chair. “Ah… yes. It is finally done, I thought I wouldn’t ever finish it to be honest but I am glad that I have wrapped it up nicely.” Morgan's smile was still hanging on her lips and didn’t look like it would be dropping anytime soon. “But how do you know about it?” “Austin talks about you a lot, even before he came back hom

Kaitlyn folded her hand across her chest as she stared down at Austin from the top of the stairs that she was. The dinner was just beneath and her view wasn’t obstructed by the many chandeliers but none of those who were downstairs would see her even if they looked up. Calvin who was talking with Austin was called over by Mrs. Jules, it seemed that there was something the woman needed to tell him. “What are you doing staring at everyone from up here? Shouldn’t you hurry downstairs and perform some wifely duties? You might want to alleviate everyone by proving your worth,” Kaitlyn heard behind her and her lips involuntarily curled down in distaste. She turned to face Derek who was in more casual wear, he seemed to be getting ready for a late night clubbing. “Should you demonstrate your own words and start by performing some son duties? I can imagine that your parents think almost nothing as of the moment,” Kaitlyn bit back and a scoff fell from Derek’s lips, his brows furrowing in

“I have closed the deal with Mrs. Rose but Ms. Jacqueline Ford insisted that she wanted to meet you in person,” Laura said, hugging a folder tightly to her chest. “I thought that you were in charge of everything that has to do with her?” Nirvana asked with a raised brow, but Laura sighed heavily. “I am but her demand is meeting you before she signs anything, she doesn’t seem to have any problem with the terms.” It was Nirvana turned to sigh before she talked.“So I am the one she had a problem with?” “I am not sure about that. I thought that she was one of Kaitlyn’s minions at first but I looked into it and she had no connection with her, then I thought that she might be one of Ms. Ophelia’s friends but it ended up not being the case. All I can say is that she is more interested in you than normal.” Laura explained. “That means I have another problem on my hands. These types of clients are the most troublesome when it truly comes down to it, I don’t know what to expect when I meet

—My radar is telling me that you are somewhere near— Nirvana texted. —What is that even supposed to mean?— Severin replied. —It means that you must be somewhere not too far from where I am—Nirvana replied. —I am not sure I know a suitable response to that— —So? Am I right or wrong?— —If you are going to continue looking like a weirdo in the middle of the road, you might as well enter that café and hid behind me— Nirvana gasped and looked up from her phone, staring ahead at Severin who still had his attention on his laptop. Nirvana was standing close to the sidewalk, watching as high school students passed by, it was school’s closing time. Nirvana had left work to take a very deserved break at the café when she saw Severin there and decided to play a prank. It was what she usually did to Boris and Leah, and no matter how many times she did it, they didn’t find out that she was actually somewhere near. She should have known that it wouldn’t work on Severin. As expected of him.

Nirvana was back. In her room, after enduring five hours in the dark room that Kaitlyn had locked her in. It was the fourth month after discovering that Nirvana had a fear of the dark, and she had dosed herself in nice doses of locked dark rooms, locked cars, sealed abandoned alleys, and any other place that could intensify her dread. Kaitlyn never did anything half-assed, even torturing her skillfully without pushing the boundary too much. Derek wasn’t home. He went on a business trip, or that was what he told her but Kaitlyn said otherwise when she shoved her into the room. Nirvana wasn’t going to let Kaitlyn sow seeds of doubts about Derek in her mind. Her boyfriend would always be there for her. The moment she listened to Kaitlyn’s demeaning words and believed it was the moment Nirvana lost the war going on. Derek had told Nirvana in detail about the things that Kaitlyn did to separate Nirvana from her family and make them disown her, Derek was all she had and the only thing

Nirvana wasn’t very confident that she could go through three consecutive nights while fully aware of uninvited presence that was always there in her most vulnerable state even after she had sought out a temporary solution that might not work. Taking a break at Severin’s place was more ideal, it was even better because Severin’s presence was one that she trusted. There were many positive things about it, but there were also many other things that Nirvana couldn’t help thinking about. It wasn’t the first night she had spent with Severin, considering she had once commanded him to watch over her till she slept one time, but this time was a bit different. Nirvana wasn’t high on sugar or tired, and it was Severin’s place not hers. She caught herself twiddling her finger as soon as she stepped into the penthouse after Severin but she immediately lost the act, wondering why on earth she was very nervous and scolding herself for it while not calming her nerves in the slightest.
