I took a deep breath, preparing myself to speak the words I knew would send Ella running away."Why did you marry me in the first place?" She had asked a few seconds ago, and I knew the true answer would heart her. I knew she would hate me even more than she already does. But I promised myself that I would never lie to her again, that I would never keep anything important from her. And I was planning to implement my promise to her."At first... I wanted to marry one of the Williamson's daughters so I would get rid of his last name. I married you so I would get control of them. I married you so I could use you as the key to Williamson's Kingdom." I stopped when Ella snapped her eyes to me.Oh, the hurt in those blue eyes, they broke me apart, made me want to kick myself in the balls."I guess the jokes are on you then." She sighed.I made no comment about what she signed and carried on with my explanation, hoping she would continue to hear me out."But then..." I started, but I stopped
Ella Smith...I lay under the covers, my shoulders shaking with each silent sob that escaped my lips.So much for being strong.Everything Elijah said to me broke my heart, including the part where he confessed his undying love to me."I fell hard..." He had said, and I really wanted to believe him, because I had fallen hard for him too.I wanted to walk away from this life. But Elijah was part of this life, and walking away from him was not an option.I hate and love him all at the same time. If I could, I would just pack up my stuff and leave. But what good would leaving be if I was leaving my beating heart here as well?I heard the door of the bedroom open, and a calm footstep walked through. A few seconds later, I felt the bed dip beside me."Ella?" I heard Elijah call out before I felt his hand on my shoulder. I was covered from head to toe, so Elijah had to pull the cover off of my head and down to my shoulder."Ella?" He called out again. What part of I need to be alone di
Elijah kept his arm around my shoulder for the rest of the ride, and I didn't have the heart to push him away. When the car finally slowed down and we arrived near the grave yard, Cane parked it, and the three of us got out of the car.Elijah's hand quickly found its way to my hand. He slid his fingers through mine and interlocked them, holding on like he never wanted to let go of me again.I looked at the many cars lined up near the graveyard and sighed. The last time I had lost a family member, I was not allowed to go to his funeral to say my final goodbye. Instead, I was forced to walk down the aisle to marry the man standing next to me.When I did get a chance to come here, I remember how I had cried at my father's grave, looking down and trying to remember the memories that made us father and daughter. But here I stood now without a single tear in my eyes.I honestly felt bad and a bit sad that my grandfather passed away. My brain tried to trick me by showing me images of the gra
Elijah stayed true to his words and stopped by the door the second he got to the room.He leaned his back against the frame of the door so he would be able to see me and still be a part of the conversation he needed to have with the men who had stepped into the room.I looked away from my husband and settled my eyes on my so-called twin sister. She looked at me with soft eyes, pretending like she was hurting at the moment.I warned myself not to get intimidated by her like I was before. I warned myself to keep my back straight and up chin up as I started walking towards her.I stood in front of her, looking up at her straight in her eyes. Damn her height advantage over me."How have you been, Ella?" She asked.I almost didn't want to give her a reply. But I wanted to keep her talking.Bring one open hand up to the middle of my chest with my thumb pointing towards, I tapped the tip to my chest a few times to sign my reply. "Fine." I signed short, making a small muscle under her right
I kept my eyes on my wife and her twin sister, watching them like a Hawk while I waited for Dante to say what he wanted to say."The least you could do is sit down." Dante commented as he dropped himself on the edge of the bed.I glanced at the three men a split second before I returned my eyes towards Ella.Cane had taken a usual spot with his back pressed against the wall, keeping his eyes on everything so he wouldn't get surprised, while Harvey stood by the window, as far away from me as possible.I already have plans to either cut his hand off or shoot him the second I get him out of the mansion for touching my wife the way he did."Just say what you want to say, Dante. I don't plan on staying in this mansion for too long. So get on with it." I replied, my eyes still zoned in on the two sisters as they had a quite conversation.I couldn't tell quite hear what they were saying, which annoyed me. I wanted to make sure that Elizabeth doesn't upset my wife. Why did Ella want to hear
The hospital room stayed frozen for what felt like hours. After what Ella signed and after Cane interpreted what she said to Dante and Harvey, not a single person said a word.I stared at Ella as she stared back at me with those bloodshot blue eyes. I glanced at Dante over my shoulder as he cleared his throat."What would you like to do?" He asked me.There was only one answer. I wanted that woman dead. But before I could speak, Ella reached for me again and placed her small hand on my forearm.I glanced back at her."I want to go home." She slowly signed."We should probably stay for the rest of the dat and the night, let them monitor you..." I started, but she shook her head. She placed her right hand flat against her chest and did a circular motion clockwise, signing the word Please.I let out a sign before I moved my eyes to Cane."Go check if she's allowed to leave yet." I ordered. Cane nodded his head before he left the room.I then looked at Dante."Let's continue the conversa
My wife slept through the rest of the day and the night. The only time she woke up was when I focused her to sit up so she could at least have her dinner.Ella was completely exhausted . Even while she was having her dinner, she was barely moving around. I ended up feeding her more than half of her dinner. The second I pulled the tray off of her lap, she had slid under the covers and went to sleep again.I slept with my arms around her the entire night, and Ella didn't move once.It worried me to no end. I wondered if she was injured when she fell down the stairs and the doctors weren't able to catch it yet.The morning was just the same. I woke up before my alarm went off. I looked at Ella and tried to wake her up so she would have her breakfast. But she turned away from me, gave me her back, and went right back to sleep."Ella?" I called out as I ran my fingers through her hair. She refused to wake up. So I decided to let her sleep in and send Dalinda up with her meal if she refused
Ella Smith...I heard movement in the room and forced my eyes to peal open. I was extremely exhausted even after all the sleep I got the previous day and night.Dalinda had come at one point to force me to sit so I would have lunch. But right after that, I was lights out again.I don't know what the heck was wrong with my body, but I just wanted to rest even more than I already have.Dalinda warned me not to go back to sleep, saying it was not healthy. But the second she stepped out of the room with the empty plates, I was back to sleep. But now, I forced myself to get up and look around the room. I watched as Elijah walked into the surveillance room. With the way he was dressed, I could tell that he was about to leave, and I didn't like it.I pulled the covers off of me and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. I pushed myself up to my feet.I walked towards the surveillance room and looked in as Elijah scanned the monitors while he loaded up his gun.I knocked on the door, ho
