I narrowed my eyes, my thoughts spinning wildly. “What exactly do you mean by your property?” I asked, forcing my voice to stay calm.
Harrison’s lips curved into a slow smile, his gaze never leaving mine. “I mean you, Ruby. You belong to me.”
I let out a short laugh, disbelief coating my tone. “I don’t belong to anyone. I'd suggest you leave because you're in the wrong house.”
He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming, his voice dropping into something dark and intoxicating. “You do,” he said quietly. “You’re mine. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew there's no way I'd ever let another man touch you.”
“Did you really think you could disappear after a night like that?” he added with a low chuckle. “Little firecracker.”
I shook my head, trying to clear the haze in my mind. “That’s insane. We barely know each other.”
He shrugged easily. “I know enough. We made love together and I want you.”
A shiver ran down my spine as he closed the distance between us. “And what is it you think you want from me?” I asked, gathering what little courage I had left.
His eyes burned into mine. “Everything,” he said without hesitation. “Your body. Your thoughts. Your heart. I want all of you.”
My throat tightened. No one had ever looked at me that way, as if I were the only thing that mattered. The intensity thrilled me… and terrified me.
“I don’t even know what to say,” I whispered.
“You don’t need to,” he replied softly. “Just understand this, I’m not going anywhere. I’m serious about you, Ruby. You picked the wrong man to play games with.”
His words stunned me.
Harrison was known for never staying. A notorious playboy. And yet here he was, claiming me with unwavering certainty.
I searched his eyes, expecting arrogance but instead, I saw something else. Something real. Something sincere.
And I couldn’t deny the pull I felt toward him. He was confident, dangerously attractive, and undeniably skilled at unraveling me.
“I don’t understand,” I admitted. “You’re not exactly known for commitment. What changed?”
He smiled faintly. “Maybe I was waiting for the right woman.”
I arched a brow. “And you think that’s me?”
“I don’t think,” he said firmly. “I know.”
My breath caught. I had only intended to use him to provoke Asher, nothing more. But somewhere along the way, things had spiraled far beyond my control.
Harrison stepped inside and closed the door behind him. The air shifted instantly. We were alone.
“I’ve been thinking about having you again,” he said bluntly.
I smiled, anticipation curling in my chest. “So have I,” I replied quietly.
He moved toward me slowly, deliberately, heat radiating from him. The moment he reached me, his arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me close.
His lips met mine, and just like that, I was gone.
The kiss was deep and consuming, filled with unspoken hunger. When we finally pulled apart, both of us breathless, he smiled.
“I need you,” he said.
“I need you too,” I whispered.
After a while, Harrison left.
I was still lost in the aftermath of everything when my phone rang, shattering the silence. I hesitated before answering.
“Hello?”
“Ruby,” my father said warmly. “It’s Dad.”
“Hey, Dad,” I replied. “What’s going on?”
“Your uncle is back,” he said. “He wants to meet you.”
I frowned. “Uncle? I’ve never met him. Which uncle?”
“He’s my brother, and also your godfather. He left years ago. He only saw you the day you were born. He doesn’t even know your name.”
I paused. “Okay… when does he want to meet?”
“Tomorrow evening. Five o’clock. We’ll have dinner together.”
“Alright,” I agreed.
After hanging up, curiosity gnawed at me. The uncle who vanished after buying me my first toy… suddenly wanted to return?
The next day, I stood in front of the mirror, smoothing my dress over and over again. I didn’t understand why I was so nervous.
Then his image looked, dark, mocking.
Aghast, I tried so heard to shove it away. He no longer invaded my thoughts so frequently after yesterday; indeed, there were times when I did not think of him for an entire hour, and then I would remember and in remembering, know I had not forgotten about him at all.
And probably never will, because the way my body craves him had been insane!
I was hoping that the desire will be buried that night, but it became worse.
People had been right. He was a man that was so irresistible, and now I was trapped in his web.
I grabbed my purse and drove to my family home.
My father’s car was already parked outside. I stepped out and walked in.
I saw Scarlett but ignored her completely.
As I entered the sitting room, my breath hitched.
Harrison was seated there.
I walked straight up to him. “Are you out of your mind?” I hissed. “Why would you follow me here, you're doing too much, don't you think?”
He looked genuinely startled. “I didn’t come for you,” he said. “I’m here to see someone very important, I’m a businessman, remember?”
Relief washed over me. Maybe he was one of my father’s associates.
“And you?” he asked. “Why are you here?”
“I came to see my dad,” I replied. “He has a guest.”
His brows lifted. “This is your father’s house?”
Before I could answer, my father walked in.
“Ruby,” he said casually, “you’ve already met your uncle, Harrison.”
My world tilted.
“…My uncle?” I whispered, stunned beyond words.
RUBY'S POV I stroked him delicately, deliberately, then began seeking out every crevice and cranny I could find, with rising frenzy. Licking, sucking, lapping. He released my wrists and wrapped me in his arms. Our tongues warred fiercely, mated hotly. His throbbing groin settled against mine, bare flesh to bare flesh. With his palm he found my breast and possessed it roughly. My nails tore down his back. Harrison lifted himself to pull out his shirt; I yanked it apart, spilling the buttons over my body and the bed. My hands found his bare chest, his ribs, his nipples. Pinching him, I moaned frantically into his mouth. He touched me. He touched me and made a sound full of raw lust. He stroked me, parted me, then was apologizing even as he rammed into me.It was a wild mating that was over almost as soon as it began. He pounded into me; I rose to meet him. We strained and bucked. I cried out first, loudly, without shame, the keening call urging Harrison to faster, harder rampaging in
Ruby's POVThe moment I turned around and saw Harrison standing there, my heart nearly stopped. The shovel slipped from my fingers and landed on the ground with a loud thud. For a few seconds, nobody spoke. The cold night air suddenly felt heavier.Jock stood beside me, his hand still gripping his own shovel while Harrison stared at both of us like he was trying very hard not to lose his temper.I swallowed hard. His face was unreadable, that was somehow worse than him yelling."Uh..." Jock cleared his throat awkwardly. "Good evening."Harrison looked at him, then completely ignored him. His eyes moved to me."Ruby."The way he said my name made my stomach tighten but I forced a smile."Hi."His jaw ticked then he asked the question I wasn't expecting."So you're back with Jock now?"I blinked."What?"His eyes narrowed."I asked a simple question."Beside me, Jock looked horrified."Harrison—""Not talking to you."Jock immediately shut up.I rubbed my forehead. Of all the things he
Ruby’s POVI didn’t even remember how I got back to my room.My legs just carried me up the stairs.Through the hallway. My mind was still stuck on one thing, the buried sack. The moment I entered my room, I shut the door behind me and locked it. Then I pressed my back against it and exhaled shakily.“What is happening…” I whispered. My hand went to my stomach automatically. The baby shifted faintly inside me, and for a moment I forced myself to breathe slower. But it didn’t help.My thoughts were spiraling too fast. If someone buried something on this property, then they were still here.A knock interrupted my thoughts. My head snapped toward the door instantly.“Who is it?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.“It’s me.”Jock. My heart jumped with relief so fast I almost stumbled.I rushed to the peephole, confirmed it was him, and immediately unlocked the door. The second I opened it, I grabbed his arm and pulled him inside.“Ruby—hey—what the—”I shut the door quickly behind
Ruby's POVI sat on the edge of Harrison's bed for what felt like forever, my hands clasped tightly together as I stared at the bedroom door.Every few minutes I checked the time on my phone, convinced that he would walk through the door at any second. He never did.The house had long since fallen silent. Even the staff had disappeared into their quarters and the endless hallways seemed eerily empty.Yet Harrison was nowhere to be found. At first I tried convincing myself that he was probably busy. Maybe he was working. Maybe he was in one of the rooms I hadn't checked. But as the hours crawled by, that excuse became harder and harder to believe. Especially after what I had seen. The image kept replaying inside my head.My stomach twisted.I stood abruptly from the bed and paced the room.No.I couldn't keep sitting here.I needed to talk to someone before I completely lost my mind.Pulling out my phone, I scrolled through my contacts until I found Jock's name.Without giving myself t
RUBY'S POV My phone slipped from my fingers and landed on the carpet with a dull thud. For a second I just stood there staring at the person had looked directly at my window, and a chill crawled down my spine."What the hell..." I whispered. My heart was beating so hard it felt painful. Jock was still talking through the phone on the floor."Ruby? Ruby, are you there?"I bent down quickly and grabbed it."Jock.""What happened?""I think someone saw me.""What?""I'll call you back."Before he could respond, I ended the call, I didn't even stop to think. Didn't stop to consider how stupid it was. Didn't stop to consider that I was pregnant. All I knew was that there was a stranger inside Harrison's property walking around in the dark and acting suspicious.I had to know who it was. I rushed out of my room. The hallway blurred around me as I hurried downstairs. The mansion was unusually quiet, most of the staff had already retired for the evening. The few guards I saw nodded respectfu
HARRISON'S POV I was pacing like a mad woman in front of the police station.Back and forth. My heels clicked hard against the concrete floor while my hands trembled by my sides. Every few seconds I looked toward the entrance again, praying they would finally let Harrison out.The cold evening wind brushed against my skin, but I barely felt it. My entire body was too tense. Too restless.I hated this feeling.Waiting.The media vans parked outside the station made everything worse. Reporters stood close to the gate like hungry wolves waiting for fresh meat. Cameras flashed every now and then, and every time I heard the clicking sound my chest tightened.I wrapped my coat tighter around myself and looked at the entrance again.Still nothing.“Oh God,” I muttered under my breath. “Please just let him come out.”I didn’t even realize I was rubbing my stomach until the movement became automatic. The thought still felt unreal sometimes.A few days ago my biggest problem had been surviving
RUBY’S POVFor a moment, neither of us spoke. The air in Harrison’s bedroom suddenly felt too thick to breathe. My eyes stayed glued to the phone in his hand. To the photograph. My stomach twisted violently, it was unmistakably me. Curled slightly on the bed.The silk sheets tangled around my legs.
HARRISON’S POVThe conference room in Grey & Carter Legal was exactly the kind of place people get contracts that will change their lives. Dark wooden panels lined the walls, the long table polished to a mirror finish. The blinds were half drawn against the afternoon sun, leaving the room washed in
RUBY’S POVThe screenshot stayed on my phone long after midnight. I must have stared at it for an hour or maybe two.My father standing beside Harrison’s private jet, the timestamp glared at me like an accusation. My chest felt tight as I walked down the quiet hallway of the mansion, the soft glow
RUBY’S POVThe moment the photos leaked, everything changed around my workplace.By the time I arrived at the studio that morning, the entire building felt like a prison.I stepped out of the elevator and immediately felt it.People standing near the reception desk stopped talking the second they s
