Chapter Two

Colt guessed that Fiona was trying to avoid him as he watched her walk away, enjoying the sight of her curvy hips swaying with each step she took, he swore he was going to get her.

 Waking up that morning to notice her absence was a bruise to his ego. Women don’t usually run out on him after a first sexual exploration, he knew there was something different about her but he couldn’t put his finger on it at that moment, he was tipsy that night , he wouldn't deny that, but definitely not tipsy enough that he couldn't control his sexual urge. He did let it happen because she was fire in his arms and she did evoke a different level of sexual excitement in him that no one else ever did, she was fire in his arms, they were a perfect blend. Waking up without her by his side that morning was really alarming, he was so satiated that he slept way too long than he usually does. He was frustrated that he couldn’t look for her because she left no trace of her presence there before leaving. His early thought was that she was just one of those girls who did one night stands, but the blood was enough confirmation that she was truly different, now adding to her list of attractive traits, she had added one more. This woman in the conference room had been a sexy blend of intelligence, savvy and sass. Just what he loved in his women. With the look in her eyes and her hurried exit, he knew she recognized him from that night. He gave her some time to settle because he knew she would be rattled and they definitely had an unfinished business.

 Whistling under his breath he left the conference room, with determination to have  a conversation with her even if she tries to act clueless. He paused outside the doorway, took a deep breath to be as calm as he could be , then he rapped at the door frame.

Fiona heart skipped, she knew she was in for trouble.

“ Welcome sir”, she said

He smiled “ you don’t have to be formal with me, my dad told me how close you both are and since we would be working together, i would suggest you don’t act too formal toward me “.

Fiona sank back to her sit, unsure of what to say next, she knew she should have made a quick escape when she first had a glimpse of Colt Harper. But she couldn't because her job was far more important than her emotions. Being formal with him was the only defense mechanism she could come up with, but Colt obviously noticed that and was determined to make her plans futile.

 He tucked his hands into his pockets and canted his hips to one side. Her breath caught in her throat, this man had a strong effect on her. His pose was blatantly masculine and unexpected at that time, it had an unexpected aura of sexuality and macho self - confidence.

“ women are so many things around me, but they are never afraid of me, and your quick escape from that night and also from the conference room shows my power in women is getting deteriorated “ he teased.

“ that’s not it “ she said rather hastily.

He raised one eyebrow at her in question and cocked his head at her “ so why did you leave “ he asked.

“ you are an attractive young man, you are hot, masculine and sexy, so your physique wasn't the problem “ she said.

“ you think i am sexy Fiona Garbera? “ he teased.

She blushed as she realized what she had just said, her mouth was definitely going to put her in trouble one day, “ what i meant to say is that i don’t do one night stands, and that was exactly why i had to leave in a hurry that morning “, she said.

Taking his hands from his pockets, he ran his finger down the side of her face. “ how about now?” he asked.

“ i find you attractive but i don’t mix business with pleasure and i can’t have nothing to do with my boss either, its not going to be professional pf me “ she said, trying to make him see reasons with her.

 He smirked and leaned closer to her, his breath brushing her face with each word he spoke, “ well, i think there have to be an exemption to that rigid rules of yours this time because we have already done more than mixing business with pleasure Fiona Garbera “. He said.

Pivoting on his heel, he walked out of the door. Fiona put her hand over her racing heart, she knew she had met more than her match. She should plot a scheme on how to avoid spending time with him alone, but she knew that was impossible because she would be sharing an office with him, she groaned in frustration.

 Just then, Billy walked in, he stared at her in amusement, he had never seen Fiona so unsettled on anything and this morning episode was hilarious.

“ my boss “, she hailed jokingly, Fiona and Billy’s relationship was more like a father and daughter relationship than it was as a boss and employer relationship, Billy had automatically stepped in as a father figure when Fiona had lost her dad.

“ one would have thought you were running from a ghost with your hasty exit after your presentation at the conference room “ he teased.

Fiona tried to respond in feigned amusement “ unless you are the ghost of which we know you aren’t, i didn’t see any ghost at the conference room, i just had a bad headache “ she lied.

Knowing that her boss could read her like the back of his palm, she needed to upgrade her pretense skill.

 Billy smiled in amusement, Fiona was acting all strange today and the hilarious thing about it was that she was obviously trying to hide it from him, well he would have to accept that it was the headache for the main time, he smiled.

“ I see you both are having fun time, can i join the party? “ Colt jokingly asked as he walked into the office.

“ well, Fiona would have to decide “, Billy responded in amusement, there was definitely something up with this two but he could tell Fiona was trying so hard to keep it hidden, he was enjoying the show more than he should, he thought in amusement.

Fiona was caught in the web, she knew her pretense mechanism wasn’t working as well as she would have wanted it to, and it was obvious that Billy had a hint that something was up, she just had to keep up with the pretense and make sure Billy never finds out what was up. There was no way in this world he would know that she lost her virginity to his son who just returned to Portsmouth a week ago. Sexual images flashed through her mind and she was red with embarrassment, she had to get hold of herself else she would sell herself off, Billy should never find out about that night.

“ well, Fiona should Colt join us in our little fun party or he shouldn't? “, Billy asked in amusement.

“ of course he can, its no big deal “ she smiles nervously.

Billy laughed, seeing Fiona nervous was one fun part of her that he had never witnessed before now, it was really amusing.

“ alright, i will leave you both to party then “, Billy said amusingly and stood up to leave.

“ don't go “, Fiona said instinctively.

“ are you being clingy already? “, Billy ssked jokingly. “ get used to Colt already will you?, i won’t be here after this week and you would be working with him” he laughed.

“ you both should get used to working together, i have to go and address other staffs “, he winked at her and left the office.

“ where you afraid of being alone with me?, Colt asked Fiona amused at her unsettledness.

“ of course not “, she replied nervously. “ i didn’t want him to leave because i am beginning to miss him already, we had worked together for 6 years now and well your dad is just like family now even if he is my boss “ she responded, this was partially true though but that wasn’t her reason of suggesting he doesn't leave, she was afraid to be alone with Colt.

 Colt laughed, a deep masculine rumbles that Fiona thought sounded sexy, what exactly was wrong with her today?, why would everything about this man be screaming sex, she needed to get her head back on track, she couldn’t afford any distraction at this moment, it was obvious Colt was enjoying the fact that she was uncomfortable around him.

“ you have to get used to me Fiona, and stop being on edge, if not everyone would notice, we would be working together now, so the earlier you get used to me, the better for us “ he laughed.

Fiona blushed, well she guess sex with Colt had brought up her hormones, she was sure Bella would be proud with herself.

“ now you are acting like an over grown baby “, Colt threw at her jokingly, “ i would enjoy working with you Fiona “, he said in amusement.

“ i won’t say same “, she grumbled.

“ you are so cute “, Colt said.

“ i am your worker and i shouldn’t be cute to you”, she feigned a seriousness that she was far from feeling.

Colt laughed “ just be comfortable with me, its not much of a big deal, i don’t bite ” he teased and gave her one of his charming smiles.

What he didn’t understand was why he was trying so had to impress Fiona, women always threw themselves at him, they were always trying to catch his attention not the other way round, Fiona was a different woman, quiet hard to impress with what he had noticed too, he was going to get her no matter how much she tries to avoid him. There was obviously a strong chemistry between them and one he wants to explore, she was trying so much to hide it but he could see the flicker of awareness in her eyes whenever she looks at him, her body language betrayed her too, it was really going to fun working with Fiona and he was going to have her to himself, he wasn’t one to give up easily.

“ i wonder what exactly you are thinking about that you look so goofy with that gleam in your eyes, but i am sure i wouldn’t want to know either”, Fiona said.

Colt laughed “ you are fun Fiona, no wonder you  are my dad’s favorite” he said in amusement.

“ i know trouble when i see it, and you are a big trouble Colt “ she said.

Colt laughed, he had laughed more than he had in his lifetime in just few hours, Fiona was one challenging woman and he loved challenges, if she thought he was going to give up if she keeps up the attitude, them she obviously didn’t know who she was up to yet, he was never one to give up and he won’t start now.
