I’d been pacing the hospital corridor for hours, listening to nothing but the faint hum of the fluorescent lights and the muffled beeping from behind the ICU door.

Tracy hadn’t moved since the accident. And Alvin, poor kid was still curled up by her side, clutching her hand like it was the only thing keeping him in this world.

Then I heard the noise.

Reporters. Their voices floated in from the main entrance, urgent and eager, like vultures that had caught the scent of blood.
