05: I'm Pregnant

Shit was the first word that entered my mind when I realized it was Alpha Percival, the most notorious alpha in the country. Alpha Leo's brother and my ex-mate uncle. He looked like a bad boy standing there, with a cigarette in his mouth as he peered down at me, with curious eyes.

His eyes darted to my bag and realizing he might find out what I was about to do, hid it. Or at least it looked that way.

"Running away?" he asked and scoffed. “Though this is the perfect opportunity for that. A slave looking for greener pastures. A place where they will feel free. No one is stopping you. Not even me. You're not lost to Leo. He has a lot of servants at his disposal.”

He knew I was an omega and servant of this pack. He was quick.

I paled and the feeling of sickness washed over me again.

Oh, no, no, no. Please. Not in front of the alpha.

Run for your life. This man won't be helping you at all.

With no plans of answering him, even if it was a punishable act, I was about to turn around and walk away from him thinking he did not know me at all.

'No. Mine!' my wolf cried.

I froze on my spot and the feeling of sickness temporarily stopped.

Alpha Percival is my second chance mate? This ancient-looking alpha of the neighboring pack?

No. No. No. The last thing that I wanted to do right now was look for my mate. I had no time for that. Besides, if I was truly pregnant, how could he accept someone else's child?

My eyes went back to him and it was then that I realized his eyes bulged as if he was realizing something. I knew it. He also discovered we were mates.

Kill me now.

"You're my mate?" he asked. He sniffed the air. His nose flared upon watching me. "You are indeed my mate," he muttered while shaking his head. “This was only supposed to be attending my nephew's alpha installation and now I got to know my mate. Lovely evening.” It was sarcasm.

It was clear that we both did not want this to happen.

I clenched my fist. And lifted my chin. Why would I let myself be bothered by him? I never said I wanted him to.

"Yes. That might be the case, Alpha Percival. I am your mate while you are my second chance mate. But you don't have to worry about it. I'm planning on running away from this pack while they are busy partying and disappearing into this place."

It looked like he was no longer listening to me. Instead, he was studying my body as if it were the most important thing to do at the moment.

"You're small and frail," he commented as if I was asking him. "My wolf wanted you."

"You don't want me, but your wolf wanted me. Fair enough. I don't have anything to do with me."

He threw away the cigarette in the trash can and asked, "You said you had a mate before me. Who is that?"

I averted my gaze. What might be his reaction if he found out it was his nephew? Dominic? "I don't want to talk about that bastard."

The party continued in the background. They will stop at midnight and I still have a lot of time to spare. But how could I leave when this aloha was talking to me? He could easily inform Alpha Leo and Dominic about me running away.

"Good. You two had a fight which caused this break up. I'm glad."

I gaped at him. That was cruel. "What would you be glad about?"

"I don't want to deal with another child."

"A child? Who are you pertaining to as a child?"

Alpha Percival gave me a bored look. "Who do you think?" He asked.

I stomped my foot, my ego greatly wounded.

"I'm not a child! I'm practically older than my age! Twenty-three are already old."

Our culture told us that we should be married at the age of eighteen years, but since it was Dominic, I could not follow the culture. We were supposed to tell everyone about our relationship today and inform them of our incoming marriage, but shit happened. Dominic could not put his dick on his pants, not even scared that he might impregnate someone else.

"Twenty-three? You think I'm young?"

My eyes narrowed. "How old are you?"

"Forty-three and right now, I wish I was younger. You're too young for me. I will be a laughing stock."

It was rare for someone to be paired by someone who was much much older than him. And we were what? Twenty years apart! I could pass as his daughter!

No. You can pass as his servant. Not his mate.

Yeah, right.

"You're ancient,” I commented. Looking at him reminded me of the dinosaurs which had long existed a million years ago.

The corner of his lips lifted as if he was smiling. “Ancient? Interesting word.”

My breath caught in my throat.

So handsome. He was nothing like ALpha Leo. Alpha Percival had a much darker look and rarely smiled at all. Anyone would be scared of him.

"Alright. That's it. You're not running away, but come with me."

"What? Why would I come with you?" I grumbled. "Just because we are mates, does not mean you have now an authority over me," I cried.

Besides, having him as a mate would only add a couple of more problems which I did not want to happen again. I was already dealing with a lot on my plate and I did not want to add more.

The goal was to disappear from Dominic and never meet him. But the possibility of staying in Alpha Percival's place would not serve the goal at all.

He gave me a dark look. "I have. You are under my nephew's leadership and that also means I have authority over you. Ask your wolf if it is right to follow me or not."

I did not have to ask that. My wolf was already so eager to do so without even asking.

I massaged my neck when another wave of sickness washed over me.

What to do now? Alpha Percival won't release and allow me to go. What should I do?

I covered my mouth when it felt like I was going to vomit.

Gahd. Not now.

"What's wrong?" I suddenly felt a pair of hands assisting me. His touch brought shivers down my spine. His touches were feathery, and if not for the bolts of electricity between us, I wouldn't have known he touched me at all.

'Our mate deserved to know our condition,' my wolf insisted using our mind link.

'You think he will accept someone else's child?'

'There is nothing wrong with trying. He deserved the truth.'

In the background, Alpha Percival kept on asking me. Lifting my gaze and removing my hands from my mouth, I stared at his eyes which were full of worry.

Yeah. My wolf was right. It was better to tell him now. He deserved the truth that I had my plus one.

"I have a confession to make, Alpha Percival. Since I am your mate, you also deserve to know the truth and I did not want you to take this against me."

"What? The worst you can say is that you are married.

"I am not married."

"Then, there is nothing to worry about. Look. I don't have the patience to talk all night. This party is killing my head. We will go to my pack and we will talk there."

He took a step forward, but I stepped back, locking my gaze at him.

Alpha Percival's forehead knotted together. "What is it, woman?"

"My name is Freya You should know the person whom you are talking to," I snapped.

His eyebrows lifted.

“You're not talking to your future alpha like that.”

I bit the inside of my cheeks and drew blood.

"What do you want to say? Say it now. I don't have all night. Leo and Dominic might come here and pester me." That was also the thing which I didn't like at all. I had to do this quickly.

"Alpha Percival. I might be carrying someone's child. It is unfair to you, so let's end this bond before someone might know about this."

I held my breath as I waited for his answer.

"You are pregnant?" he asked as if that was the only thing that he caught in my lengthy statement.
