Grace's pov

The drive after we left his warehouse was tense and quiet. His hands were clenching on the steering wheel like he wanted to murder it.

I knew it was a bad time to speak as I was following him against his wheel so I didn't talk.

He slowed down in front of the massive gate and the gate pulled open.

He pulled over in front of a big building and got out of the car. I got down after him, and he came to my side, holding my hand. He pulled me with him to the side of the house.

Our every moment was a blur to me until we stopped in front of a door.

Silvano looked at me as if seeking permission and I nodded my head before he opened the door.

The room was cold. It wasn't cold because of the air, but because of what it held.

A man was tied to a chair in the center of the room, his face swollen and bloody. His shirt was soaked in sweat and Red— blood. He raised his head slightly, just enough for me to see the terror in his eyes.

I froze and was unable to move.

Grace's Pov The car pulled over in front of the restaurant. It looked warm, inviting, like a place that belonged in someone else’s world. Not mine.Because I don't know what mine was anymore.Giovanni opened the car door and offered me a hand. I placed my hand in his and stepped out slowly, my heels clicking on the pavement. The moment we walked in, I felt eyes on us. The hostess approached us and smiled warmly.“Table under reservation named Morelli,” Giovanni said, and the hostess checked the tab with her.“This way,” she said, guiding us toward a table by the window. It was beautiful. Tables by the window are always the best. Giovanni pulled my chair for me to sit before sitting on the chair across from me. There was soft music playing in the background of the restaurant. I was looking around the restaurant, noticing how elegant and exquisite the interior of the restaurant was when Giovanni spoke.“Silvano made the reservation,” he said “but he couldn’t make it.”I didn’t ask wh

Grace's Pov In the split seconds when his lips brushed against mine, I made my choice. I turned my face, making his lips land on my cheek.Every part of me was screaming something different, my heart, my head, my body. They were telling me to give in. But I couldn't.“No,” I whispered, placing my hand gently but firmly on his chest.Silvano pulled back from me and his eyes opened.“I can't,” I looked him up in the eyes.He didn’t look angry nor did he pull away further. He just looked still as he looked at me.A tense silence fell between us. I was afraid to even blink. Then he slowly stepped back, letting his hand drop from my neck and body.“Alright,” he said, his voice low.He nodded once, like he was grounding himself. “I was out of line. Sorry.”That surprised me more than anything.“I will give you space,” he added before turning away, and walking out of the kitchen, leaving me standing there. Was that it? He wasn't going to ask me why I didn't let him kiss me? He didn't e

Grace's povWhy would you say that Grace? You are shit scared out of your pants.Oh my. I just wanted to let him know I wasn't intimidated by him so he could take me out of the four corners of this house.I thought of lying to him that I was going to sleep in my room while I snuck out but it wasn't possible because before I got to the gate, I would be caught.I saw the security and it was very tight. “You are not scared of me, you say?” Silvano asked, his lips lifted in a smirk as he stepped closer to me. I took a step backward and he took another one forward.Say no, Grace.“Yes,” I said, taking another step backward. Dammit. Just say no. My subconscious screamed at me but I didn't listen.“I am not scared of you or what you would do. I just want you to take me out,” I continued.I was close to the wall now and he was going back me up against the wall.I turned slightly to avoid being backed against the wall.“Then why are you taking steps backward?” He asked.“Because you are taki

Silvano's PovI exhaled slowly, leaning back in my chair.“If I wanted to kill you, Miss Green,” I said, my voice firm, “I wouldn’t go through the trouble of making you Mac and cheese in the morning when I could be busy working.”Her eyes didn’t leave mine. She still looked unconvinced. She was trying to decide if she should believe me and my words. And I got it. I understood. I wasn't angry at her. After everything she had seen, after everything I had done to her, how could she not be afraid of me?“I know you are scared. And I know what you saw changed the way you look at me. But I am not going to hurt you, Grace.”She dropped her gaze, her fingers fidgeting with the fork beside her plate.“You are not going to hurt me, but you don’t exactly make me feel safe either,” she mumbled.I nodded at what she said. Fair enough.I stood up slowly and grabbed my glass of juice. “You don’t have to eat it. Just don’t go hungry because you are afraid of me hurting you.”She didn’t respond to me

Silvano's PovEntering the house, I was met with silence. The living room was empty and that was mostly unlikely. Before I knew what I was doing, I found myself going to the kitchen. The kitchen was empty but I saw a plate lying on the counter. No one would put that there than Grace. She was the only one who would do that. I took the plate to the sink and washed it before putting it away. I didn't like things not being in order. I like my things tidy, clean, and in order, but it seems Grave didn't get that.I removed my jacket as I walked out of the kitchen and headed to my room. I stopped in front of Grace and was about to knock on the door when I stopped. Would I be crossing a line?Would she even want to see me? Or talk to me?After what she witnessed today, I wouldn't be surprised if the sight of me made her flinch.I knew she shouldn't have been there in the first place, but when she insisted on coming with me, I thought it would let her know what my business and world were

Silvano's Pov The car roared as I pulled over in front of a casino.I got out of the car and adjusted my jacket, smoothing out the wrinkles, before making my way toward the entrance. On seeing me, the guards at the door opened the way for me and bowed to me as I passed by. I scanned the room, my eyes adjusting to the dim lighting. People were hanging around, busy with what they were here for. I have to meet someone, and I wasn't here for the games. From the corner of my eye, I saw one of the guards speak into his earpiece. He is alerting his higher authorities to my appearance. My destination wasn't in the crowded room, it was in a private room. That is where she would be.I strode across the floor, weaving past patrons engrossed in their bets. There was a guard at the door when I got to the entrance of the private room. From outside, I caught sight of her.She was sitting facing the door, twirling a glass of scotch in her hand while she spoke with someone I couldn't see in the
