Grace's Pov“The cops are on their way, let's go,” I heard, and their footsteps started to fade away. After waiting for some minutes and hearing nothing, I released a breath and looked down at the stranger. What did he do to have those men after him?I looked at his features closely and took note of his pink lips, sharp jawline, which looked like it would cut me if I touched it, and I was tempted to. My eyes fell on his wound on his lower abdomen, which was bleeding, and I pressed hard on it to stop the bleeding.I opened my bag and took out the small kits I always carry about. I opened it and skimmed through the items before picking a Rochester forcep. I inserted the forcep into the wound and used it to grip the bullet. I removed it and blood started gushing out. I immediately opened a sterile saline and poured it over the wound to stop before cutting a cotton wool and placing it over it.I looked for a bandage in my bag but couldn't find any. I cut a piece of his shirt, which was

Grace's povI saw on the bed hugging my knee to my chest as I rocked myself.I almost cost my family their lives. I almost got them killed. Fresh tears flowed down my face. I shouldn't have walked to the hospital that night. I should have helped the man. I shouldn't have even gone to work that night. Now I am stuck here because of some freaking file I knew nothing about. Is someone using my life to joke with me? My life wasn't Rosy to begin with, so why is this adding to my problem?I stayed like that, rocking myself while staring into space. He spared my family this time but what if he won't next time? What if he actually goes in there and harms them himself? I can't afford that. I can't allow him to touch them but what was I going to do?I didn't have the file nor do I know where it was.The sound of the door opening caught my attention, and I turned to the intruder. The wounded man from that night came in, and immediately I wiped my tears and lay my legs on the bed.I still d

Grace's Pov A voice growled behind me“Don’t.”I didn't listen, my eyes were on the door, hoping to get out as fast as I could. The door was inches away when I heard a click.Gun safety off.I should have stopped when I heard the click of the gun but I didn't. I was going to leave whether he liked it or not. A bullet shot zipped past me in a flash and hit the door before me, making me stop in fear.Shakily, I instantly started checking my body to see if the bullet had hit me. “Next time, I will shoot you if you try that again,” Silvano said, coming closer to me. He appeared in front of me with a gun in his hand. How did he get the gun? I inspected the gun in his hand before looking at me.“I— Were you trying to kill me?” I asked, shaking to my bones while my teeth gritted in anger and fear. If I had moved in the direction he shot out, the bullet would have hit me. I would have dropped dead before I even had a chance to leave. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth.“I was

Grace's Pov “No. I- I just travelled for work but I promise to be back as soon as I can.” She was quiet for some while before I heard Sophie's voice. “Grace, when are you coming home?” “Soon, love, very soon. Be a good girl and look after Mum for me,” “Can you at least tell me where you are?” Mum interrupted Sophie. “I can't. But I am safe. I have some savings in my bag. You can use part of it to get your drugs and the rest to sort out our bills, tell Noah he is in charge now,”“What if it finishes? What are you going to do?” She asked and I kept mute. As I am here and not working, I can't get money to send to them. I thought I had the perfect plan but it wasn't perfect at all. I didn't think of it. “I am going back to work and don't try stopping me. Noah is trying his best job hunting and let's hope he gets one. Just do something for me, be safe darling” My tears were flowing non-stop by this time and I didn't try to stop them. I nodded my head even though she could see me, “

Silvano's PovAT THE MAIN HOUSEI watch the man chained to a steel chair twitching from cold and fear. He was stripped of his clothes and only left in a pair of brief boxers. There was no window in the room, but the room was cold and empty except for a swinging bulb hanging from a frayed cord, and the table on which some tools were laid.Blood crusted around his brows, lips burst, and a cut by the side of his cheeks. His eyes were shut and his head lolled backwards. He still looked okay to me. I took a knife from the tools laid out, playing with it.I walked closer to him and squatted in front of him, running my fingers on the chain that bound him to the chair. “You know,” at the sound of my voice close to him, he looked down at me, “You were one of us. I watched you carry your mother's casket. I helped you pay for the church, the flowers, and the reception. But yet, here we are”“Please,” he begged, his lips trembling.“Where are my goods?” I asked.“I didn't—” he started but I di
