Crap!
I am going to be late again!
Where the hell is Noah? He was supposed to be home 30 minutes ago.
I pulled my bag on my shoulder and turned to Sophie who was looking at me from the coach.
“I am off to work, Soph. I made spaghetti, it is in the kitchen, make sure Mum eats and takes her medicine after she wakes up. Make sure you eat also,” I walked closer to her and kissed her forehead.
“Do you have to go now? You promised to stay home tonight,” her tiny voice sounded sad.
‘How the hell did you forget that?’ my subconscious screamed
‘Well, if I weren't busy working overtime, I would remember.’
“What about after my shift, I take a few days off and spend them with you, Noah, and Mum?” I smiled at her and she returned the smile, nodding her head.
“Don't open the door for anyone except Noah,” I walked to the door and bent to put on my shoes. Suddenly, the door opened, knocking me off.
“Sorry, I didn't know you were there,” Noah apologized immediately, shutting the door behind him.
“Where were you? You were supposed to be here 30 minutes before my shift,”
He placed his hands in his pockets, looking elsewhere, apart from me.
“Sorry, I lost track of time,”
“Why do you always do this? You know I don't like leaving Mum alone with Soph. I just asked you to do one thing for me, and that is to watch over them, but that is too much for you to do, huh?” I was pissed. Not because he was late but because he always does this.
“Well, I said I am sorry. I don't know what you want me to say again,”
I scoffed but didn't say anything again. I was late and didn't have time to exchange words with him.
“Are you on shift at the hospital again?” He asked as I finished putting on my footwear.
“Yes, why?” I stopped, my hand on the door knob.
“Do you ever take a break? You are barely home and again you are off to work. You are getting older from too much stress if you don't know,” I rolled my eyes at his words and opened the door. I stepped out and replied to him.
“We need money and it isn't going to come to us if I sit around. If you were to get a decent job, then it would be nice, but you find it better to stay idle,” I pushed the door to close, but Noah held it.
“Well, not everyone is as hardworking, demanding, and in control of everything as you are. Take care of yourself and goodnight,” he said. I jumped slightly as he slammed the door shut.
I heard the click sound from inside and blinked to get myself together. It was just one of the few nights I quarreled with Noah.
Nothing new about it. I strapped my bag closer to me and started walking to the road.
The night was cold and there wasn't any cab on the road.
I switch on my phone to check the time. Oh my God, I am going to be late.
I'd better start walking to the hospital. It would take me 20 minutes I think.
I started walking and noticed the night was strangely quiet and colder. There wasn't anyone on the road apart from the old lady I saw earlier who came out of her house to drop refuse.
No car has passed me by since I started walking to the hospital and it has been over 10 minutes.
I placed my hands inside my scrub and fastened my steps.
All of a sudden, I heard a loud noise. At first, it was short-lived, then it continued, loud. The hair all over my body stood. I looked back and there was no one behind me.
I started walking fast.
What if the danger was at the front? Was I running into danger?
I didn't wait to listen to my mind, I started walking fast while looking behind me to see if there was anyone following me.
Suddenly, a body collided with me, making me stagger backwards.
My eyes fell to the floor and I saw blood dripping from the stranger's body. I started to look up and my eyes widened when I saw a folder and a gun in his hands.
I let out a scream but my scream was muffled when the stranger placed his hands over my mouth.
“Shh. Don't scream. Nod your head if you won't,” I nodded my head, closing my eyes, afraid he was going to shoot me.
He removed his hands from my mouth and I screamed louder. He covered my mouth again.
“I asked you not to scream, dammit,” he winced and looked behind him.
“I am going to remove my hand from your mouth and if you scream, I will put a bullet to your head,” I nodded, a streak of tears falling from the corner of my eyes as I felt the cold metal against my hips.
Slowly, he removed his hand from my mouth and I opened my mouth to massage it.
“Okay, I will be quiet because there is nothing harmful about a guy with a gun,”
A gunshot sounded in the air and immediately the stranger fell on me.
“Hey mister, stand up,” I said, panicking.
I should run but the stranger's weight was so heavy. I tried shifting him to the floor and saw my hands stained with blood.
Shit. He was shot.
The sound of the gunshot was getting closer and I needed to protect myself.
I can't possibly leave him to die here. He is bleeding so much, I have to help him.
I dragged his heavy body with me to a corner of a dark building.
My breathing was fast and loud after dropping him on the floor.
I heard the sound of steps running to the spot where I was before and I covered my mouth with my hands.
“I shot him twice so he can't go far without assistance. Find him and bring him to me,” I heard a loud voice say.
“Yes, sir,” I heard a chorus of voices. Then there were footsteps scattered around.
I lay low beside the unconscious man, my heart almost in my mouth.
I should have listened to Soph and stayed for the night instead of walking all the way.
Now I have put myself in danger with an unconscious man.
Oh, lord, help me. I closed my eyes praying for a miracle to happen.
I heard a loud creak sound like someone stepped on a branch, not far from where we were, and my eyes shot open in fear.
“Shit,” I heard someone cuss out loud.
Grace's pov“Who am I meeting?” I asked and she stopped and looked at me. “I don't know. I just have to get you ready,” she said and looked at the dress on the bed. “You need to get dressed now,” I took the cloth and went inside the bathroom. I heard her laugh before I closed the bathroom door. I wasn't going to get naked in front of a stranger and get dressed. Yes, she was the nicest I have come across since I was brought but I wasn't still going to let her see all of me. I wore the dress and ran my hands on the cloth. It was soft and comfortable. It fell just on my knee. Thankfully the chest cut wasn't too low.I stepped out of the bathroom and she looked at me over. “You have a nice body for a dress. I guess you dressed more in dresses,” she said. I sat down on the chair, she tapped on and said. “No. I only wear dresses when I need to,” she hummed in response. She didn't say anything and only began brushing my damp hair with slow strokes.“Where are you from?” I asked again
Grace's Pov “I don’t have anything to say to you,” I said, my voice barely a whisper. He let out a short, humorless chuckle and crouched down to my level, his eyes sharp like glass cutting into my skin.“Oh, but you will. In fact, we have a lot to say,” he said. “You see, your silence won’t protect you here. It doesn't work that way.”My chest tightened and I asked the first question that came to my mind. “Is it about Silvano?”A dark smile crept onto his lips. “Everything is about Silvano, Парень,” he said and stood up. (Lad)He turned his back to me and started walking to the door before stopping and glancing over his shoulder. “You look like sh*t. You will be cleaned up and brought to me in a few hours. We will have dinner together, then we can talk,” he said and walked out of the door. You look like sh*t, he said. Like he wasn't the one who made me look like it. I sighed in relief as he left the room and I heard the click on the door.I don't know what he wants from me but I k
Grace's Pov The same spinning headache I have had since they knocked me off was the same headache I woke up with. The same numb feeling in my limbs. The same rusty feeling of being locked up in a dirty room. The air in the room was little, suffocating, and foul.My eyes fluttered open, and I stared at the ceiling in front of me. I have no idea why I was kidnapped. I do not know what they have to do with me. I do not know when I will have a good wash.Silvano.It was weird that it was the first time I was really remembering him since I was kidnapped from the hospital. Does he know I am missing? Is he looking for me? Does he know where I am?I don't even know where I am aside from when I was coming to Russia. Am I in Russia yet? I don't even know how many days I have been taken away.Suddenly, the door swung open, and I shot up from the cold floor. I stood up as two guards brought in a tray of food while the other stood by the door. I looked at the man holding the tray and his gun
Silvano's Pov The sound bounced back from the wall. I stood still for a second, staring at the closed door before moving my eyes to Elisabetta. She was still holding my trousers while her eyes were on the door. “Give me that,” I said, with my voice low.She handed them over without a word and stepped back, her cheeks flushed and eyes shiny with unshed tears.“I didn’t mean to cause any trouble. I just wanted to help you,” she mumbled, and I sighed.“I know. Just... go.” I said and without waiting for any other word from me, she turned and left my room. In a hurry! As soon as the door shut behind her, I exhaled sharply, rubbing my temple with my good hand.I never knew getting ready with one hand was this stressful.I sat on the bed and struggled to put on the trousers. I barely managed to button it before I grabbed my shirt and stepped out of the room.I met Giovanni almost at my room door. He stopped and looked at me.Is this all you could do?” He asked.“Help me with it. I don't
Silvano's Pov I watched the CCTV camera around the hospital for the ninth time, trying to find something that would give the people who took her away, but there was nothing. Except for the car the hooded man who knocked her out and carried her away used. One of the car plate numbers was covered, making it hard to find the car they used, but Harper was working on it. I moved the laptop to stand up from the bed when a knock came on the door. “Come on,” I said and Elisabetta entered. She bowed her head before looking up. “I am here to give you your morning meditation,” she said. I looked at her hands and saw a glass of water in one hand, and the medication in the other hand. “Leave it on the table,” I said and stood up from the bed. Pain shot all over my body, and I closed my eyes for a few seconds to get used to it. Elisabetta came close to me and held my arm to help me but I raised a hand to stop her. She took a few steps away from me, and I opened my eyes. Her head was bowed
Grace's PovThe hum of an engine was the first thing I heard. It vibrated through the floor beneath me and my eyes fluttered open.I blinked against the light and looked around. When I took in my surroundings, I panicked and wanted to get up from the seat I was on but I couldn't. I looked down and noticed I was strapped into a seat. My wrists were tied apart but not too tight to cut circulation. It was tight enough to keep me in place and not able to lose. I tried to loosen it, but it felt like it was tightening more on my wrist, so I stopped. My legs were tight, and I could feel them numb from staying in the same place for too long. What am I doing? How did I get there? Where am I?Different thoughts rushed into my head but I couldn't find the right answer to them. The last thing I remembered was being outside the hospital. Then I heard voices and a hand from behind. Then a hit on my head and everything after that was just blank. And I woke up, tied and bound with no idea where I
