He sat up at her question then and rested his right hand on the small of her back. She looked at him.
"Yes, Carolina. You are safe with me."
"And when I'm not?"
"That won't happen. Why all this? I don't understand."
"I just... You're my first, and I'd like to know more about you. I think you owe me that considering you've become so enmeshed in me and my mother's life in such a short time frame." He hadn't considered that.
"You are right. Forgive me." He gently pulled her to him.
She rested her head on his shoulder.
He kissed the top of her head and gently laid them both back down on the bed. He sighed.

She was happy to be back home. It was quiet. The silence reminded her of what had happened and why her mother wasn't here. She tried to shake the eerie feeling off and went to the kitchen. She noticed both of their places were still in the same place. She picked both up and dumped their contents in the trash bin, then she put the plates in the sink. When that was done, she went upstairs and decided to shower and change. She had school work to turn in. She grabbed a towel from the linen closet and went into the bathroom. She turned the water on, checked the temperature, and when it was perfect, she undressed and got into the shower. The hot water felt good on her skin. She relaxed as it ran over her. Carolina was in better spirits when she came back to the Hospital. When she got out of the elevator Carolina saw Geo waiting at the nurses' station. She knew he was waiting for her, and that thought made her feel special. She was glad she had gotten o to speak with her BFF this morning. It helped her stand her ground now. When Geo looked at her with those intense eyes, she always felt like she would melt like an ice cube under his gaze. Especially today.
