I went from having a beautiful morning with Mei to getting my ass supremely handed to me during training. I got paired with Marcus and he was being particularly brutal today; he’s an absolute beast when it comes to fighting. I don’t know what came over me earlier. I wouldn’t call it snapping, as I wasn’t angry. I suppose the best word is resentful. I felt resentful of Jane. I don’t personally know her, but Chris has told me plenty when he was warning me about people to avoid in the pack. Jane isn’t a ranked wolf or the daughter of a ranked wolf, but her father is a very wealthy man, allowing her family to be very wealthy as well. I felt Tyson and I accomplished a lot today. We figured out the patrol schedule and then we had lunch in his office while he taught me more about what pack security entails. We discussed future training routines, with him letting me in on some of his ideas. There’s another sensory course coming up where the pack will once again have to learn how to not rely on their sense of smell. They were all so impressed the first time I participated in this, but I didn’t feel I deserved their praise. The downside of dealing with human contractors is I can’t punch them in the face when they act like condescending assholes. I have been on the phone to these morons for longer than I’d like, and they think because we’re a little ‘village’ in the middle of nowhere that we’re hicks or something. I smile shaking my head, but Amelia does have a point. That was a lot of power that came out of Mei today, all triggered because for a brief moment Jane made Mei feel the way that disgraceful pack did. I wonder what it will be like at full strength. I sit in the corner of the hospital room; its lights have been turned down because they were hurting Setia’s eyes – which were also burned. Time seems to have gotten away from me. I haven’t been paying attention to anyone or anything. Axel isn’t talking, he’s just curled up in a ball weeping. I’d join him, but instead, I’ve been focusing so hard on trying to reach Mei, but still nothing. I’m not giving up though. My senses return to me when I hear an airy voice yell Setia’s name. I look up as a woman with chestnut hair, and glittering latte skin walks into the room in basic pyjama pants and a tank top. I’ve experienced all types of pain in my life, but this is entirely new. I feel like I’m waking up without remembering falling asleep, but even though I feel my senses returning, my eyes just don’t want to open and I’m not sure I want them to either. My entire body aches in a way I can barely put into words. At best, I’d describe it as though my blood has been replaced with lead and I’m being crushed by my own blood. My blood hurts. There is just too much for my mind to process right now and I can only imagine Chris is feeling a million times worse. After Setia and Defne’s revelations, Chris stormed out of the hospital. I wanted to run after him, but I decided to give him some space. I just hope I made the right decision.
