Eros

I couldn’t wait until the next day. What if fresh problems cropped up? I wanted to seek Anacá out right now. There wasn’t much time left with me. I wouldn’t let her file for divorce.

Sucking in a deep breath, I drove over to Josh’s house reluctantly. I hated going there repeatedly, but Anacá left me with no choice.

After ten minutes, I parked the car and walked up to the gates. Strangely, the house looked freshly renovated but deserted. Even their cars were missing from the garage. Did they not live here anymore?

I glanced around and noticed a middle-aged woman staring at me from the house next door. Did she consider me a trespasser? “Hello! Has the Hemmingway family gone somewhere?” I asked her, taking a step or two in her direction.

She nodded. “Yes, they’ve gone to Agapi Events on the next block for their son’s wedding.”

A gasp of horror escaped my lips as I tried my best to hold back an expletive. “Whose wedding? Josh’s?”

She nodded warily. “Yes, obviously. Who else?” She wal

ErosMy insides twisted with need as my glance swept over her curvy figure. Seated beside me, clad in a Kelly green silk dress, Anacá looked se*y as f*ck, almost like a wet dream. I hadn’t expected her to agree this easily. Now that she was here, I didn’t know if I should be hopeful. Had she forgiven me? She wouldn’t have been here if she hadn’t.“Has Andrea given her permission for the pups?” Anacá asked me, glancing at the two pups in the backseat.“Yes, just. Or I would have come over earlier. It seems the twins’ hard work has paid off. It isn’t easy to convince Andrea.” I couldn’t help but remember the twins’ candid retort. What were my chances of starting a family with Anacá? I really wanted to know if she had forgiven me.“Hmm, I won’t go up. You can just drop the pups and come back.”“Fine.” I drove into Zion’s condominium and parked the car.The pups were excited to get out of the car and run. But I picked them up and walked towards the elevator. “Welcome to your new home, boy

AnacáThe moment Andrea opened the door, she gasped with pleasure. I could sense Eros’s presence outside the main door as I followed her to check. Yes, I was right. It was Eros and Knox, Andrea’s twin, who stood there with a wheelchair-bound Zion. I froze at the sight of Eros, unscathed and alive. After worrying all night for him, my eyes drank him in. I might be upset with him, but not upset enough to wish him dead.“Zion!” gushed Andrea with tears in her eyes as she hugged him with relief. “I’m fine now, baby!” He wiped her tears away. The twins rushed past me to hug their dad, but I was oblivious to it all.So was Eros. Unaffected by the drama all around him, he held my gaze for minutes. Maybe he hadn’t expected me to be really here. I could see the hope glimmering in his eyes. Did he think I was back for good? Did he think I had forgiven him?I didn’t. He had to try harder if he wanted me back in his life.I tore my gaze away and smiled at the way the twins hugged their dad, bloc

Anacá I looked around the shop, maybe for the hundredth time, before closing it down for the day. It had been two weeks since that evening when I turned Eros down. Despite his promises, he didn’t pursue me. Fourteen lonely days since I had seen him last. My heart sank with every passing day. Had he given up on me? Had he accepted defeat? A strange apprehension gripped my heart and mind, giving rise to restlessness. I couldn’t concentrate on my work. Why did I feel this way about someone who had hurt me so deeply? Why did my heart want to see the extent he would go for my forgiveness? Maybe because I loved him. Despite the way he had hurt me, I loved him. I couldn’t forgive him or forget him. And it was only because I loved him so much. His behavior hurt me the most, while I hadn’t felt devastated when Josh betrayed me. I was furious with Josh. I locked the shop and walked down towards my house. Maybe I would bring Lucy and her pups back from Mr. Murphy’s place to give me company.

Anacá “No, you’re mistaken. We’re still married, Anacá.” I gaped at him, shocked by the gentleness and remorse in his tone. Was I imagining it? The Eros I remembered could only hate me. What changed after two months, when I had given up all hope of him? No, he definitely came with a caveat. “Yes. We’re married in name only for two more months.” This time, I wouldn’t buckle. I didn’t need him in my life. I was financially independent, with loved ones by my side. Uncle David had handed over his bakery to me to manage and run, just as I wished. In the last two months, my hard work had paid off, and the bakery earned more than ever before. It strengthened my self-confidence and helped me prosper. Uncle David and Deborah were proud of me, and it helped me get a grip on my life.Eros paled and closed his eyes to control himself. “I won’t sign the divorce papers. Would you still consider a separation if I apologized for my behavior? I’m sorry, Anacá. I’ve realized how badly I had treated

  • A Reckless Alliance - Falling For My Billionaire Boss   Chapter Fifty-Nine – Zion's Call For Help

ErosTwo Months Later My phone buzzed with an incoming call from Zion, and I frowned. Why was he calling me? Had he patched up with Andrea? For the last two months, I have been shuttling between Juneau, Miami, Seattle, and Galveston. While Port Canaveral was our home port in the US, we were developing Emerald’s new cruise itinerary in the rest of the port cities. Therefore, I hadn’t found the time to return home to Athens since the day I left. It was the same day that Mr. Murphy came to visit me. Mr. Ford updated me about Anacá’s visit to the office a week later to collect her dues and sign the termination agreement. If she thought it ended our chapter, she was wrong. She was still my wife, and I had every right to pursue her. I just gave her time to heal. The call disconnected, and I wrapped up my work in Juneau. Tonight, I would fly to Miami and then back to Athens. The phone again buzzed, and this time, I took his call. “Yes, bro. How are you?” I could hear him panting at the

  • A Reckless Alliance - Falling For My Billionaire Boss   Chapter Fifty-Eight – How Dare She Fight Me?

ErosI seethed with fury as I stared at my laptop screen. I hadn’t expected Anacá to fight me. So, she didn’t need the job. It was all a fake show to gather sympathy. I wondered who was supporting her against me. The answer was obvious. It had to be Josh and his family. The day my office security called me, I reached the office at midnight, and he informed me about Anacá’s departure. Someone took her away. If my car hadn’t given me problems that night, I would have reached earlier and faced Josh. Anacá hadn’t completed the work I gave her. Obviously, I hadn’t expected her to. But I wouldn’t have thrown her out for incompetence. Maybe I would have just warned her. Now that she had hired an attorney to fight her case, it wouldn’t make me release her. I wanted her to suffer the way she was making me pine for her. I could tolerate anything but not betrayal. If she loved Josh so much, she shouldn’t have married me at all. Now she was dying for Josh. Wasn’t it too late?If she expected

  • A Reckless Alliance - Falling For My Billionaire Boss   Chapter Fifty-Seven – Quitting

AnacáIt was almost 11:30 p.m., and I had completed only half the work Eros had sent me. It looked like a lost case today. Fatigue and hunger took a toll on me, and I knew I couldn’t continue anymore. Eros was purposely playing this game with me. It was inhuman. The urge to quit and rest my tired body was immense.“Miss, go home. I will lock up the office and leave at midnight. The night guards will be here to patrol around. It isn’t safe for you to stay back,” said the guard for the tenth time. I sighed helplessly. If I went home, Eros would throw me out of the job. I needed the money so badly. “Five more minutes, please.” I closed my eyes briefly as a wave of dizziness hit me hard. Suddenly, everything blacked out, and I grabbed onto my head. “Miss, are you alright? Someone is waiting downstairs for almost two hours to take you home. Should I call him?” The guard’s voice reached me as I tried to get a grip on myself. I knew Uncle David was waiting for me. He might not be related

  • A Reckless Alliance - Falling For My Billionaire Boss   Chapter Fifty-Six – Who Was It?

Eros“This is against our company rules. No female employee should stay back after 9 p.m.” Dad’s stern voice lifted my guilt. So that was what she was here for—to complain about me! I seethed with fury, the guilt evaporating into the air.Dad gave me an annoyed look. “What’s going on, Eros? Why was she working so late?”I racked my brain to think of an excuse. What could I say? I lost my mind out of sheer jealousy and forgot the company rules.Anacá gasped and gave me a nervous look. “Dad, you’re misunderstanding me. I couldn’t complete the work on time. So I stayed back. Eros had asked me to leave, but I need this job badly.”I scowled at her. Was she crazy? How could she complain to Dad about my threat to her?“Why would you lose your job? You’re my daughter-in-law. In fact, you shouldn’t be working as a PA in your company. You should be co-working with Eros in a similar respectable position as a director or GM. What’s going on, Eros?”My jaw dropped to the floor. So that was why sh
