Officer Stewart led Maddox to Gary Laurier’s holding cell. But he refused to see them without his defence lawyer. It was impossible to interrogate him. The only way to find out the answers was to wait for the arraignment.

“Come over to the Superior Courtroom tomorrow at 11 o’clock for the arraignment.”

Maddox nodded and left the police station without meeting his so-called mother. He had no wish to face her.

In the evening, he received a distress call from Deborah. “Mr. Laurier, I just returned from the convenience store. But I can’t find Iris at home. The guard in charge had gone to freshen up. The bodyguard you had appointed is missing too. Please, can you come over?” She trembled in a state of panic.
