CHAPTER 22— IT WAS ALL A FACADE

Xavier sighed as he looked at her back, frustration one of the prominent emotions he felt. He understood what she was trying to say and he understood that she was frustrated too, but nothing that happened was his fault.

If anything, he was a victim too.

Everything that happened so far, she pinned it on him and the past. Was it not called the past for a reason?

Running a hand through his hair, he took a seat on the edge of the bed, reaching for her shoulder with the other. It didn’t get far enough to touch her though, because his hand froze when he heard her voice.

“I don’t want you anywhere near me either...”

He pulled back his hand and sighed. “It’s my bed, Celia.”

“Totally forgot.” She sat up, wincing lowly while doing so. “My blankets are under the bed, I’ll sleep on them.”

“Could you just stop? I...” his hand reached for hers, but Celia pulled away. “Stop what?”

“I told you to put the past behind yo—”

“I don’t want to do that, I want to go home.”

“We’re back to this again
