Damien’s POV

The city was alive beneath my window—lights blinking like warning signs, cars threading through darkened streets that never really slept. But in here, everything was still.

Too still.

I leaned back in the leather chair in my study, flipping through encrypted messages on one burner phone while the other buzzed with incoming updates.

Still no word.

Marseille. Nice. Aix-en-Provence.

My people had swept every informant we’d greased in the past. I even had someone reach out to a few underground groups we used to partner with—ones who owed me favors they could never repay.

The results?

A receipt from a pharmacy, a blurry security cam still of a woman in a hoodie, and a street kid’s whisper that he saw someone who looked like her duck into a hostel.

But nothing solid. Nothing I could fly to and say, “She’s here.”

My jaw clenched as I gripped the edge of the desk. The screen dimmed.

She was hiding. She’d changed her number already, probably to a local one, and so I couldn’t even

Damien’s POVThe moment the message lit up my screen, a cold knot twisted in my gut.[Nice distraction. We’re in.]I didn’t move. Didn’t blink. Just stared at the words like they were a live wire burning through the palm of my hand.Mother was never part of their plan, though—she was mine. My card to play. But someone else had just hijacked my storm.I casually dialed the number of the head of security in the building. “Security. Code Gray. Sweep every floor, especially the exec wing and underground access. Look for infiltration. Silent takedown only. No alarms.”“Okay, sir.”Good. We’d see just how far these bastards planned to get.My gaze drifted back to the boardroom carnage. Isadora was in full wrath-mode now, hair flying, heels clacking like gunshots on marble. She wasn’t just shouting—she was eviscerating every lie Gregory had spun for decades.Someone from Legal stood up and tried to calm her down. Mistake. He earned a fresh scream for his trouble.“You think this is business?

Celeste’s POVThe woman turned—and the moment her eyes met mine, her entire face lit up.“This is Colette,” Michael said, standing. “We grew up together, and she now lives nearby. She’s actually the one who recommended this place to me. Our families go way back.”Colette stepped toward me with open arms. “You must be Celeste!” Before I could say a word, she wrapped me in a warm, spontaneous hug. “I’ve heard so much about you. I’m so happy he found you. I’ve been dying to meet you.”I blinked, startled. “Oh… hi. It’s nice to meet you too.”Michael laughed. “Don’t worry about our location—she’s one of the few people who already knew where we were. We can trust her.”“Of course,” Colette added, releasing me with a smile. “And I really hope we can be friends. You’ll need someone normal around here.”Her playful wink made me laugh, the tension easing from my shoulders. There was something instantly likeable about her. She felt… familiar, somehow. Like sunlight on old stone. Warm, grounding

Celeste’s POVIt was my first time out since arriving in France. The breeze was gentler here. Cooler, cleaner. It carried hints of lavender and pine, dancing through the cobblestone streets like something from a memory that wasn’t mine.I kept my hood up, even if I knew no one here recognized me. Not that I was alone.Michael had insisted someone trail me. “Just in case,” he said.So somewhere behind me—never too close, never making it obvious—a bodyguard lingered. I didn’t know his name. I barely glanced back. But I knew he was there. And strangely, I didn’t mind. The hospital sat on a quiet hill overlooking the sleepy town. I made my way through the familiar halls, smiling politely at nurses who had started to remember my face. When I stepped into Auntie Eleanor’s room, the quiet settled around me like a soft blanket. She was still as ever, her chest rising in the slow rhythm of sleep, but today her color looked better. Her fingers twitched once while I watched. I chose to believe i

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 179

Damien’s POVThe boardroom still smelled of old money and polished control.I’d walked these floors with power in my veins for years, but this time… something felt different. More uncertain. More volatile.Levi sat two seats away from me, his shoulders a little too stiff for someone pretending to be calm. His tie was crooked. His confidence wasn’t.Apparently, my father was pushing for him to take the six-month executive internship track — something they usually reserved for Ivy Leaguers and second-generation prodigies. The title they dangled in front of him? Marketing Director. It was a flashy position. Public-facing. Lots of control over branding, narrative, and eventually—if he played it right—access to the company’s reputation. A dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. Levi was hardly the typical candidate for such a role—he was just a high school senior with limited real-world experience. His only notable achievement was launching an online gaming startup that, to everyone’s surpr

Celeste’s POVMy hands were covered in dirt, my nails practically ruined, and I still hadn’t figured out how to get rid of the annoying little bugs crawling over the zucchini leaves—but I was laughing. Laughing hard, shoulders shaking, head tilted back as Michael tried (and failed) to uproot a stubborn weed that had taken over the edge of the vegetable patch.“You’re pulling the watering hose,” I told him between breaths, trying not to fall over. “That’s not even a weed, genius.”He let go, scowled at the tangled green mess, then looked up at me with mock betrayal. “You know, you could’ve told me that ten minutes ago.”I shrugged, still grinning. “Where’s the fun in that?”Michael gave me a crooked smile and flopped onto the grass, arm thrown over his eyes. “I give up. Nature wins.”I flopped down beside him and looked up at the sky. Light blue. No clouds. No helicopters. No dark shadows. Just peace. After a week in hiding, it was starting to feel like this might’ve been a good decisi
