CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

CONFESSION

“Two packs are missing,” Hendrik stated.

“Are you sure?” Bob asked.

“What do you take me for? Yes, I’m sure!” Hendrik sharply said. “I had fifteen packs now there are only thirteen.”

 The door clicked open as I quickly moved to the balcony, pretending to be staring at the sky. Rosie appeared. She closed the door from behind her.

She walked toward me and stared at the people walking below our building. Most were heading to work. My mother also used to go to work at these early hours before I got ready for school.

She would always leave the house after she had prepared my lunch box even if I told her not to prepare it for me.

“Crazy how seasons change so fast,” Rosie pulled me out from my wild thoughts.

“What do you want?” I asked.

She turned her gaze to me.

 “Don’t you think I should be the one asking you that?”

“What do you mean?” I asked.
