CHAPTER 5

( Yvonne's POV )

I ran across the field to the training building. There were still girls getting questioned and I felt sorry for them. I ran to Mitchelle who was standing, watching over the girls.

"Hey, so where do I go?" She still didn't look completely comfortable with me.

"Um hold on." She looked around. "Connor!" A guy a bit older than me came running up to her.

"Need something miss?" He asked.

She turned to me. "Yes. This is Yvonne Desperte.

She's going into warrior training. I want you to start her off."

He looked at me and smiled. "So you're the one that took on a berserker?" I nodded. "Awesome.

You're badass. And you're a Desperte?" I nodded again. "Cool, I know your brother."

I smiled. "So you know the idgit that is known as Greyson?"

He laughed a little. "I wouldn't call him an idgit.

He's pretty cool actually."

"You sound like one of his girls." I teased.

He laughed loudly. "You think he has girls!" He doubled over with laughter. "Oh, that's rich!" I gave him a confused look. "You're brother is as whipped as Indiana Jones."

"By who?" I asked.

Connor gave me a straight, yet confused face. "His mate."

I had to make sure I heard him right. "He has a mate?" Connor nodded. "He never told us."

Connor pulled a worried look. "He's head over heels for her. Doesn't even look at other girls." I nodded my head, not really sure what to say. "I'll introduce you to her." He walked and I followed.

We came up to a boxing ring with a girl squared up against a guy. "Rach. This is Yvonne." The blonde girl came to the edge of the ring and smiled at me.

"She's your mate's sister."

Rach, who I'm guessing is actually named Rachel, dives out of the ring and pulls me into a hug. "Oh my Goddess, you're so pretty. I mean, he talks about you all the time but I didn't think you'd be this pretty."

"Rachel, who are you- ah shit." My brother stood looking at me and his mate with a slightly scared look. "Look Yvonne, I am gonna tell mom and dad, I just want her to be there when I do."

Ilaughed a little. "It's fine. I get it." I paused and turned to Rachel. "So apparently you have him whipped?"

She got a devious grin on her face. "Baby?"

"Yeah?" My brother immediately replied.

"Can you go get me a water bottle and a towel?"

She asked sweetly.

"Of course." My brother turned and went to get her what she wanted.

"I think he's adorable, but yes, he is so whipped."

She laughed lightly.

Connor came up to us. "Sorry Rach, but I have to get her into training." Rachel gave me another hug before Connor dragged me away.

"Alright, so what are we starting with?" I asked Connor.

"Hand to hand." I rolled my eyes. "No, just cause you did good up there doesn't mean you'll do good when something is actually fighting for it's life."

I sighed. "Fine. Let's just get through this."

***************

After a few hours of practicing hand to hand combat with Connor I was actually tired. He put up a good challenge, so I'm guessing he was trained well from childhood. I'm not arrogant, it's just that ever since I was ten the only person that could best me was my dad. That's why I have that air around me. I get confident in a fight, and apparently I get scary too.

"Alright, that's enough for now." Connor stood up from the ground where I currently had him pinned.

I released his arms and lifted my knee off of his airway. He rubbed his neck a bit. "So, how old are you?" He asked, obviously curious.

"I'm fifteen." He nodded.

"So when do you turn sixteen?" Sixteen is the age where your wolf can recognize your mate, and your mate can recognize you.

"Um, I guess next month. My birthday is in September." It was currently August.

He nodded. "Do you think your mate is here?"

I looked around. "I honestly don't think I have one”

He looked at me confused. "There are things that are different about me. Things that other people here don't have to worry about."

He nodded. "Well I think you have a mate. Why would the goddess not destine one of her children with another, especially when one is so beautiful?"

I looked up at him. He just complimented me. This guy just complimented me. I gave him a small smile. "Thanks. How old are you?"

"Seventeen. I'll be eighteen in June." I nodded.

"So your mate isn't here?" I asked looking around.

He shrugged and pulled off his gloves. "She may be, but she might not be old enough for me to sense her yet."

I nodded and started to drink from my bottle.

"Would you want her to be here? I mean, have alpha blood."

He looked around. "Meh, I wouldn't mind. I mean, I like a girl that knows how to speak her mind."

"Well then you've come to the right school." I laughed a little and so did he.

"Alright, well I have got to get back to my dorm. I have another class in an hour. See you later." He ran off and waved goodbye.

I didn't really know what to do next so I walked around watching people spar and others practicing technique.

There was a girl, probably a few years older than me, who was practicing her punching technique on a strength meter and she had the arm movement right but her body just wasn't fluid with it. There was no way she'd get a good score punching like that.

"Hey." I came up to her and she gave me a weak smile.

"Hey. I suck at this, don't I?" She asked with a knowing look.

"I would definitely not say that you suck. There are plenty of girls that can't even do what you just did.

I will say that you need to practice more on using your body's momentum to increase the force of your punch. Here, watch." She gladly stepped aside and I got into position to punch. As I surged my fist forward, my hip turned to the side and my feet also turned. I stepped back and checked how hard the hit was. "See now that's not my best, but it's still a good example."

"One thousand two hundred seventy psi isn't your best? What do you eat everyday?" She asked a little surprised.

"Boys here have probably gotten higher. Don't get so shocked by it." I playfully hit her arm and she laughed.

"So what is your best?" She asked.

"Two thousand three hundred and ninety two psi."

I shrugged at the number. Yes I was proud as hell that I had that strength lying within me, but I didn't want to seem like an arrogant warrior, cause I'm really not.

The girl gaped at me. "How old are you?" She asked.

"Fifteen. I'll be sixteen next month." I said it as if it was nothing.

"Okay, I'm seventeen and I can't punch that hard."

She crossed her arms. "Who are you?"

"Yvonne. It's not a big deal really. I've trained to be a warrior since I was young."

"Alright, if you say so. I'm still a little shocked, but I believe you. I've seen one guy get a psi level close to that so it isn't that impossible I guess." She gave me an odd shrug.

"Who was it?" I asked, curious.

"Greyson Desperte. I know he's from a scary pack, but he's really sweet. His mate is the sweetest girl I know." I laughed a little hearing my brother's name.

"I'm from a scary pack too. As a matter of fact, I'm from the same scary pack." I laughed a little, waiting for her to catch on.

Her eyes widened and she laughed a little. "Sorry, I didn't know. So you're Greyson's sister?"

I nodded. "In the flesh."

She laughed again. "Well that makes sense.

Midnight moon is basically made of warriors."

I nodded. "Yeah, we really are. I mean, even those that do other things could become a warrior."

"Yvonne!" I turned to see Mitchelle calling me.

"I have to go..

"Hadley."

"Alright, Hadley, well I'll see you later." I walked away and gave her a small wave bye. Mitchelle watched me as I walked over to her.

"I have your schedule." She handed me a sheet of paper. "Tomorrow I'll be giving all of the girls a tour of the campus so you'll know where all of your classes are." I nodded and looked at my schedule.

"Alright. Cool, do I go back to the dorms or?" I looked up at her.

Mitchelle clasped her hands and smiled at me. "You can go to your dorm. Unless you want to stay here longer."

I shook my head. "It's fine. I'll go back to the dorm." I folded the paper and put it in my breast pocket. "See you tonight at dinner." She smiled and waved as I walked away.

Once I got to my room I decided to take a shower, just to get the sweat off of me. I turned the hot water all the way up and let the burning water turn my skin red. After I was done I wrapped my towel around my body up along with my hair. I walked over to my dresser and smiled at the fact that I had my own clothes. We had to send our wardrobe before we came so we could have them. I pulled out a huge shirt and a pair of short shorts. I pulled them on over a pair of boyshort panties and a sports bra. The alarm clock beside my bed said it was only four, so, like any growing teenager, I decided to take a well deserved nap.

***************

I woke up in a city surrounded by buildings. "Well this isn't normal. How the hell did I get here?" I looked around to get a better understanding of my surroundings. Not only was I surrounded by buildings, but I was also being watched by people on their fire escapes. "Do any of you know what city this is?" None of them spoke up or even acknowledged that I had spoken. "Can any of you hear me?" I heard someone walk up behind me and I spun around.

A man dressed in a sharp tux came partially out of the shadows, I still couldn't see his face. "You brought us here. You should know where here is." He had a low voice. One that specifically made me want to get closer. The man sighed and pulled me to him. I was shocked by the embrace, but welcomed it. That's something I normally would never do. "It's okay. We understand everything has been hard on you. We will wait for you to get better before we try to reintegrate you with the Clowder." I looked up at him confused.

"Clowder? What's a clowder?" I asked as I tried to see his face.

"Don't worry about it. For now, just rest.

Everything will be explained later." I nodded and laid my head on his chest. He slowly picked me up and carried me somewhere new.

Now I faced a different area. This one was much more familiar as it resembled many of the places I had been before. A huge green field lay out before me. Ten people lay on the ground writhing in pain.

I run over to the closest one and try to help, but as soon as I touch them their skin is burning hot.

"What's wrong?" I asked frantically.

One of the people around me got out a single word.

"Shift." I didn't know if she was telling me to do that or if that's what they were doing, but I wasn't going to take that chance. I shifted into my huge jungle cat and watched as they too shifted into jungle cats.

They all lay on the ground, tired from their shift.

'Don't move. It'll only tire you out more.' I mink-linked all of them, hoping they would hear me. As I looked over all of them, I noticed that none of them thought it would be a good idea to move. I moved over them, checking to make sure evervone was okay. I don't know why I was so worried for them all, but I felt responsible for them. I had never met these people in my life, yet here I was as worried as a mother for all of them. 'Try and stand, if you can that is.'

Some of them were able to stand fine, while others were wobbly on their feet. Eventually all of them were standing and walking, which was a sure sign that they were fine. Several of them even started play fighting like little kids, which I laughed at softly.

The world zoomed by until I was faced with a similar field yet not the same. "They're moving in.

Should we deploy?" A girl about my age stood in front of me.

"Deploy what? What's going on? Didn't I just see you shift into a feral tiger?" She didn't seem to notice I had spoke as she waited for an answer to her question. "Um, I guess deploy." She nodded and ran off, probably to give the order that would deploy, something. Honestly I had no clue what I had just told her to do.

My eyes shot open. "What a weird dream." I closed my eyes again and drifted to sleep.
