Cassandra’s POV

“What!” Miss Claire screamed, throwing a stack of files at my face. I froze, stunned, unable to believe what just happened.

I’d barely gotten to the office that morning when my supervisor summoned me, her face red with fury. She was fuming about DM Corporation dropping us from their project after learning that I wouldn’t be participating anymore.

That man was screwing over.

“Are you trying to screw us over, Cassandra? Do you want this company to collapse and leave us all jobless?” Claire shouted, her voice sharp enough to slice through glass.

She hurled insult after insult, completely disregarding my attempts to explain why I couldn’t continue with the project.

“Ma’am, I’m just..” I stammered, but she cut me off with a glare.

“I don’t care how you do it, but you’re going back to DM Group and getting us back on that project. Otherwise, you can kiss your job goodbye!”

What! Would she really fire me? Panic struck deep. I knew pulling out of the project might cause damage

Margaret’s POV “That lousy slut!” I screamed in rage as I slammed my grip against the steering wheel the moment I got into my car. I couldn’t believe I had let that undeserving bitch get under my skin, yet no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake her confidence. It didn’t seem like what happened at the gala yesterday had broken her spirit, or even shaken her trust in Dante. I had done all that just to drive a wedge between them. I had deliberately left clues for her to suspect that Dante was cheating. Yesterday’s event was supposed to be the final nail in my carefully planned scheme, but instead, it turned into a complete failure. She hadn’t left Dante, and worse, it seemed they were already questioning the legitimacy of my pregnancy. I couldn’t allow that. “I never thought they would bring up DNA,” I muttered bitterly. “I assumed it would be easy to lie about it, just like fifteen years ago. But Dante has changed, and now I need to prepare for whatever is coming.” I

Cassandra’s POV“It was a one-time thing… that came out wrong, I mean—” Dante stuttered, but it seemed that every word he said only made things worse. He looked so pitiful standing there like that that I finally got off my high horse and stepped closer to him.“I know you didn’t think things would turn out this way,” I said softly, my voice barely a breath, “but maybe if you tell me the whole truth, I might understand. It might have been a one-time weakness with your ex, and—”“It’s nothing like that, Cassandra!” he exclaimed, cutting me off. And then, finally, he explained everything.Dante told me how he had helped Margaret, believing she was being blackmailed, only to end up being drugged himself. He said he couldn’t defend whatever had happened between them because he genuinely didn’t remember it clearly. His explanation forced all the scattered doubts I’d been carrying for weeks to snap painfully into place.I hadn’t been losing my mind. The signs had been real all along.“So you

Cassandra’s POV“Are you alright?” Sergio asked for the umpteenth time ever since I arrived at his mansion. He had taken me to his house because I told him I had nowhere else to go, something I was already regretting. I had expected him to take me to a bar, or anywhere neutral, but not his place.“Yes… but I think I should leave,” I said, biting my lip nervously, but Sergio stopped me immediately.“I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not that kind of monster,” he said calmly. “I brought you here because this is the safest option. If you don’t want to be trending tomorrow morning after what happened at the studio, then it’s better you’re not seen with me anywhere public.”His explanation sounded plausible, annoyingly so.“Okay,” I blurted out, sinking quietly onto the couch. I turned away from him, trying to hide my tear-stained face, but that was pointless. He had been in the same car with me while I bawled my eyes out and cursed Dante relentlessly.I had barely managed to pull mysel

Cassandra’s POVPregnancy? Baby’s father? Those were the only things my brain could process as I stared blankly at Dante and Margaret. People were whispering behind me, but I couldn’t make out a single word. Margaret’s declaration had numbed my mind completely, drowning out every other sound.Today was supposed to be such a big day for me, or maybe that was exactly why what I had just heard felt so devastating. What Margaret said was definitely big. Too big. How could she possibly be pregnant with Dante’s child? How did that even make sense? I screamed inwardly, my thoughts spiraling wildly, until I suddenly jolted back to my senses and found myself gasping for breath.“Breathe, Cassandra… please,” I heard Dante say, and my knees nearly buckled when it hit me that I wasn’t imagining any of this. It was real. Every horrifying second of it.“This…” I whispered faintly, but Margaret’s shrill, howling voice drowned mine out, sharp and deliberate, as though she wanted the spectators to jud

Dante’s POVI panted heavily as the weight of the message hit me fully, and the ballroom suddenly felt suffocating. The air grew thick, pressing down on my chest until breathing felt like work.“Are you okay?” Cassandra asked, placing her hand gently on my back.I immediately stiffened, panic flooding my veins. If she found out, if she even sensed the truth, things would not end well. Not for me. Not for us.“Yes, it’s just hot in here,” I blurted out.She nodded, her attention shifting back to Mira, who was still anchoring on the stage. I, however, caught Margaret’s gaze. She was watching my every move, her eyes sharp, calculating. I couldn’t keep calm anymore.I texted her quickly. Let’s meet outside.I locked eyes with her briefly before excusing myself from Cassandra, mumbling something about using the restroom. Cassandra looked worried as I stepped away, but she swallowed it down.“I’ll be back before the main event starts,” I assured her.She smiled, though it didn’t quite reach

Dante’s POVI stood outside the studio entrance, welcoming the guests who came to celebrate Cassandra’s studio launch. They were people I had personally invited so Cassandra could build her social network and excel in her business. Yet, even as I smiled and exchanged pleasantries, my mind was a tangled mess.I couldn’t seem to shake off what had happened at Margaret’s place that day. I had since found out that Margaret might have drugged me, which also meant that something could have happened between us, something I had no full memory of. The more I thought about it, the more certain I became that the incident wasn’t ordinary. It felt like a perfect trap, carefully orchestrated just for me. And the worst part? I couldn’t prove a damn thing.“Hey,” Cassandra whispered in my ear.I jerked in shock as her hot breath fanned my skin. I had been so lost in thought that I hadn’t noticed when she sneaked up on me.“How are you, kitten?” I smiled, masking my worries as I turned to face her. He
