Chapter 2: Unexpected sight

"What was that?" Kim asked, her voice teasing having watched the whole time.

"I don't know, what do you mean?" Her voice was low and her cheek flushed red in a blush, she felt chills run through her as she relived the moment at the table in her mind. Kim raised a brow and chuckled teasingly. She could see the blush plastered across her cheeks and could tell in a single look that she had something going on in her mind.

"You think he's handsome right?" Kim was persuasive; she had her elbow resting on the counter table while her spread palm supported her as it rested on it. Her eyes were searching for answers as she stared interrogatively at Matilda who was now looking at her with denial evident in her eyes.

"I'd be lying if I said no." Matilda crossed the distance between them passing her to stand opposite to her. Kim smiled knowingly loving how nervous she was making her. She switched her stance to face Matilda again.

"Then you felt something." She laid a stamp to her unconcluded investigation. Matilda was going to deny it till the end of the world and she was getting impatient already. Matilda sighed giving up, Kim had taken her unawares with the instant accusation and her reflex expression gave her up. She watched Kim smirk at her in victory but what was the point? He already had a girlfriend. A thought flashed through her mind, she remembered the way he stared at her it was illegal to look at another lady in front of ones partner that way, reason his girlfriend had given her that death stare... Or not! What if she was his sister and a spoilt brat who thought of her as no good for her brother? She grabbed her bag on the counter and before she realized she had actually thought about doing it her eyes trailed to the table she had served earlier and her heart sank in the instant as she saw his perfectly crafted features grabbing her attention, her gaze focused on him dazed. He looked twice more impressive than before. He had words in his mouth and he was speaking to the lady.

She watched him closely from far off, his hands reached out to his glass of wine slowly, she swallowed a mould of saliva at the wild thoughts that filled her head looking at the content of the glass. Her eyes followed his hands and then on his slightly opened pink lips, her throat went suddenly dry and it burned with a longing thirst for his lips.

Damn Matilda! Why was she being so lustful. He finally spilled all the words he had in his mouth as he drew the glass closer to his lips but then his hands stopped a breath length and he pushed the glass away from his lips, his hands and eyes working simultaneously. His seductive and arousing eyes fixed at her like he had felt her watching him. Her eyes bulged; she flinched at his piercing gaze at her, her lips parted astonished, he was looking at her, a bartender! Why? She felt flames of emotions that had been ignited erupting like a volcano. Her head spiraled with dreamy sensations. Then she saw him chuckle like he was in her head and had seen all that she had imagined about him in it. He took a sip of his wine and placed it down elegantly but somehow, his move managed to turn her emotions on to another level. She looked away nervously; her chest hooked in a squeeze and when it released her heart raced threatening to jump out of her. She held on to her bag tightly taking a quick glance at Kim who thankfully had not witnessed the awkward situation.

She held her head low in embarrassment and kept scribbling on the table as a way of escape from her minds torture. She dared not look up straight, she didn't want to risk catching those awe striking eyes of his.

"Kim," she called almost whispering and beckoning her with her fingers to draw close which she did.

"Do you know of any well paying job that no one wants to do but people do and keep it a secret?"

Kim drew back at her rushed words trying to let her brain process what she just heard.

"I mean... Any work that you normally wouldn't do but other people do it and it pays really well?" She repeated again slowly. Kim's eyes lit up getting the message she was trying to pass across. Matilda had not mentioned anything about her failed career as a sugar baby to Kim but Kim had it easier and had paid most of her debts and bills somehow, so she thought that Kim probably had some sort of back up.

"Well... You can join a criminal gang, robbery pays well." She said jokingly.

"Stop... I'm being serious here." Kim adopted a serious look as she stared at Matilda, worry soon settled on her face.

"You haven't paid up your debts." Kim said rather than asking. Matilda gave her a weak nod, she was deeply sad within. She had a lot going on which she couldn't tell Kim. Her debts went beyond paying up the debt incurred from student loan. She had a pain ass brother who had become her responsibility or rather a burden to her. He was on the run and she had to pay off his massive loan to the notorious loan sharks he had incurred the debt from. Her late father was an addicted gambler spending all the inheritance her mother left them in gambling. As if that wasnt enough, he died leaving her with debts to pay which she initially had no idea about. She had sold everything and was left with nothing. All her struggles were eaten up by paying debts every time.

A weak smile curved up her lips. "I'll figure it out." She said deciding not to push it any further.

"I can lend you some money you know." Kim offered.

"Thanks but its fine really." She wasn't going to take another loan no matter how little just to clear up her debts.

The night had run its cause, the bar was closing already. Matilda couldn't be any happier to end her daily hunt for the day, she was already stressed out as it was. She needed her bed so desperately. She hung her bag on her shoulders making her way out of the bar and she didn't need to see Marcus face until the next day. She strolled the walk way just after the bar, her hands covering up her neck to being a warm feel to it, she took a quick glance to her right and turned back to fix her gaze on the unclear image she had caught. She tilted her head to face the parking space which stood a few distance away and her eyes caught an unexpected sight.

"No way!" She brought her hands to envelope her lips. She drew closer to the parking lot, eager to confirm what she was seeing. There she saw the man from earlier, the one that made her heart tickle with affection, her head released sensual bubbles, her eyes dreamy at his enchanting visage and her whole being lusting after him.

What was he doing there standing alone? She kept walking slowly careful not to make an attention driving sound. She hid behind a blue SUV that sat almost close to that of the man's car. Then suddenly the girl from earlier stepped out of his car. She looked crazily pissed at him, then her eyes widened in shock as she began hitting hard against his chest raining curses at him. She brought her head up slowly to get a clearer view but instead her head bumped into the cars side mirror drawing all eyes to her.
