Chapter 4: Caught

"One more step and I'll kill you."

Matilda froze hearing his dreadful words at her. Was he really going to kill her? He didn't seem dangerous initially but his death stare at her at the moment told her otherwise.

"Who are you?" Andre asked not because he didn't recognize her but because he was suspicious.

Matilda on the other hand wondered if he really didn't remember her, she had served him wine back at the bar. He let that mean girl talk and hit him harshly and here he was threatening to kill her, how unbelievable.

"Seeing that you are quiet, I guess you must be a secret reporter or a blogger who would do anything to get their hands on people and talk trash about them." He paused seeing she was silent then continued. "How much do you need to keep your mouth shut and not say anything you saw today.

"I don't understand what you are trying to say."

"Pretend all you want but I bet you are willing to share information about me to get money in your bag." His tone was harsh and she was getting pissed at him. She needed money like crazy but she had no plans of doing such a thing to him. Who was he by the way? And how would sharing information on him give her any money?

"I still don't know what you are talking about." She insisted. Andre looked frustrated at her insistence, he moved closer to her till he was standing a breath length away from her. If the night wasn't so cold she would feel his hot breath on her skin. His proximity made her nervous and despite their awkward situation it managed to introduce new feelings into her.

This stranger was talking down on her, suggesting she'd invade his privacy just to make money off it. It would be an inviting offer but she was innocent of such accusations at the moment.

"Will you answer me or should I make you to?" The nerves he had but yet terrifying. He was rich obviously and could do away with her covering it up without a trace so she needed to be careful with her words.

"I-I pardon for eavesdropping on your conversation."

"So you admit to hearing everything?"

"Not everything!" She yelled, he startled within but remained calm. His eyes brightened at how cute she said that. She was trying not to annoy him, he could observe that and the fear that crawled around her. Was he that intimidating?

I bumped my head into a side mirror so I couldn't listen to the rest of your talks and it hurts so badly." She quickly placed her hand on a spot in her head, indicating that she had bumped it right there. She pretended to be in pain and it got Andre amused. It was poor acting but he chuckled sweetly at the cuteness of it.

"So you are just an ordinary bartender who likes to be in other people's business.

"Hmm? Ah, no, you got it wrong.... I was just curious." She said in an attempt to convince him.

"What's the difference?" He left her wordless with his question. She kept mute for a moment and in it Andre seized the opportunity to stare at her pouted pink lips that looked totally enticing and inviting. He gulped at the thoughts that registered quickly in his mind. He sighed releasing the tensed up breath he held within him.

"Urrgh... In that case. I apologies for intruding." She said with a cute smile on her face hoping to win his Mercy card. He was rich and she couldn't win a case against him, so she used her perfect card at the moment which was her cute smile. She was told all her life that she had a cute smile but sadly for her it never got her any luck. She hoped it worked today. Andre couldn't help but smile at her actions, surprisingly it made his heart tickle again. Yes! Again like it did when he first laid his eyes on her back at the bar. Lena was being a spoilt brat the whole night but the moment his eyes worked unintentionally and caught her gaze his heart responded quickly and he couldn't draw his eyes away from her when she finally caught him staring.

"What is your name?

She hesitated a little before replying. What was her name supposed to do for him. All she wanted was to start walking far away from him before she was put in a situation she couldn't get herself out of. He could be a devil with a pretty face. He threatened to kill her earlier after all.

"Matilda." She finally answered.

"Matilda...." He stressed as he repeated her name. "Are you walking home?" He didn't know why he was getting interested but he asked anyway.

"Sure." She said simply. Her fingers tracing to the back of her neck. A method of relieving her tension a bit.

"Can I offer you a ride then? My driver is on his way."

Her lips fell, she was wordless at his sudden offer. Then suspicion grew in her. Was he really going to carry out his threat? As if sensing her fears, he stepped in to save the moment.

"You can walk if you want, I only offered the lift because you have a cute smile."

Her heart sank even more at his confession and soon began to speed up that she feared it was going to hop out of her any moment. She went through a process of emotions in a split second.

"My smile? She repeated. What if her cute smile charm had reached its stage of manifesting. Was she finally getting lucky with it?

A car was approaching, she had looked across from where it was coming, she recognized it. The car from earlier. It was his car and now his driver was out of it approaching them. He stood behind Andre and bore a questioning look at her.

"I guess you'd prefer to walk then. Nice chatting with you. Good night little Miss." He flashed a smile at her before turning to leave. A ride would have helped her day but she couldn't accept a stranger's offer especially when he threatened to kill her few minutes before.

She walked home cursing herself for not hopping on the man's offer, her legs were sore it was a hectic day for her and her belly was rumbling in hunger. At this point she felt like she was going to faint. She kept pushing till she finally got to her place. She collapsed on her bed even though her body itched her to shower. She heard a message pop into her phone and reached out for it lazily on the bed. Her eyes were dreamy in need of sleep but then it brightened full of consciousness from the message she read. Mr. Graham was dead, her old client and her sugar daddy had finally passed. She stared at her screen shocked but disappointed that she didn't feel a bit of emotion. She gulped a mould of fluid on her throat as she read down the message further. Mr. Graham had requested for her presence at the reading of his will.

He really kept to his word, he was going to reward her at the reading of his will giving her the largest part of his fortune as he had promised. This was going to change her life forever, she was going to pay off her debts and live a luxury filled life. A mixture of laughter and tears flowed out of her as she clenched her phone to her chest.
