ZANDER

“I don’t know. Right now, Selene is the only person who can give us the answers we need,” I told Lucas, making the curious look on his face.

Lucas drove us to my pack's hospital where I have my sperm, Caroline, our pack's most experienced doctor, and my childhood friend.

She wanted to start a conversation but we kindly brushed her off, telling her we had an urgent matter to attend to.

We left the hospital afterward and began heading to the outskirts of my pack. While on our way there, I got carried away by my thoughts.

There had to be an explanation for all this. For Vivian being my second chance mate.

And also why when I got a red note from Selene for the first time in years, it happened to be when Vivian and I got married.

Either way, I needed a child to maintain my Alpha position. My Uncle was already turning the pack's board members against me.

The lineage of Alpha’s in our family didn’t shift when my Dad was Alpha, I wasn’t going to let it move to another family in my turn

ZANDERI suddenly became scared—really scared.I began to think that what if the child Vivian was carrying got affected by all of this? What if something went wrong and we lost the baby because of Vivian’s condition at that moment?I closed my eyes for a second, trying to steady my breathing, but the fear just kept growing. I could bear the pain.If we lost the baby, I’d find a way to deal with it. It would break me, yes, but I’d survive. We could hope for another child one day—even if that path would be painful. But Vivian… she was different. She was too soft-hearted, too full of love. She was already in pain.Losing the baby was going to destroy her completely. I knew her. She’d blame herself. She’d feel like she failed. And I wasn’t sure she would ever recover from that. That thought hit me like a sword to the chest. I felt breathless. I couldn’t hold it in anymore.I turned to Priestess Tanya and said, “What if the baby… what if it doesn’t make it?”She paused and looked at me car

ZANDERWe were all stunned when we heard her voice.“Set me free, you old hag,” Vivian muttered, her lips barely moving. We all turned sharply toward the bed. She had been lying still for so long. Not even a twitch. But now, her mouth moved, and words—real words—came out. For a second, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. But then she said it again, a little louder this time.“Set me free… you old hag.”I didn’t wait another second. I rushed to her side and dropped to my knees, gripping her hand tightly.“Vivian? Vivian, it’s me! Open your eyes!” I shook her gently, not wanting to hurt her but needing her to wake up.My heart started racing. For the first time in days, a wave of real hope washed through me.Maybe—just maybe—we wouldn’t need that Circle witch after all. I never trusted her. I never even wanted her near Vivian. It was Vivian who begged for it, who thought the witch could help. And because I wanted to make her happy… I agreed. But I hated every second of it.“Viv

ZANDER“I don’t think you should rush there,” I told Caroline, keeping my hand on her arm. “We need to come up with a plan.”Even as I said those words, I hated myself a lot. I knew this wasn’t the kind of situation where we should be taking things slow. Every second that passed could mean Vivian was in more danger than we knew. However, if we acted blindly. If Caroline just ran there without thinking, we could mess up everything. And I couldn’t afford that. I couldn’t afford to lose her.Caroline’s jaw tightened. She looked at me like she wanted to argue, but then her voice came out sharp and steady. “Then come up with a plan fast, Zander. Because if you don’t, I’ll do what I have to. Even if it means dragging those two bastards to your doorstep myself.”The fire in her voice hit me straight in the chest. She wasn’t bluffing. I knew her well enough to understand that when Caroline made a threat like that, she meant every word of it.Derek, trying to lighten the mood, chuckled. “You

ZANDERI asked coldly, “What is it you want to remind me of, Ronald?”He leaned forward slowly, a smug grin crawling over his face like a snake. “Zander,” he said, his voice low and full of pride, “I just want to tell you to think carefully because the Circle always gets what they want.”I stared at him, not blinking. Just like I expected he was talking rubbish. Arrant bullshit.“The Circle is the strongest association in the history of werewolf society,” he continued. “You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. We’ve shaped kingdoms. Destroyed empires. What makes you think Vivian is any different? What makes you think you can protect her from us forever?”“Oh, so you're now part of the Circle organization?” I raised a brow.“Yes, Zander. And it is the best decision I have ever made. Join us and together we will shape the werewolf society into a good and safe place,” Ronald replied.I clenched my fists. My jaw tightened. The asshole still had the nerve to ask me to join them after I

ZANDERI had a bad feeling the moment Ronald said the Circle had a proposal for me.Something about the way he sat there, calm, and cocky, like he owned the place made my blood boil.My wolf Maddox growled low inside me. I didn’t like that he was in my house. I didn’t like the sound of a “proposal.” And I definitely didn’t like that it had anything to do with Vivian. Then Ronald said it.“The Circle is willing to give you thirty billion dollars in exchange for Vivian.”My eyes narrowed.A sharp scoff escaped my lips before I could stop it. My rage started building fast again, boiling deep in my chest.I clenched my fists so tightly that I could feel my claws pushing out slightly from my skin. I didn’t speak. Not yet.Thirty billion dollars. For Vivian.Like she was just a thing that could be bought. A possession. A piece of land or some stupid artifact. The woman I loved. The woman who had gone through a lot in the hands of the same Ronald that the Circle sent to propose the deal.Th

ZANDERI froze when I heard Derek say that Ronald was here to see me.For a few seconds, I thought I misheard him.My brows drew together as I sat up quickly on the bed. “Ronald?” I repeated slowly, like maybe saying it again would change what I heard. The name alone made anger crawl up my throat like fire. What the hell gave him the guts to come back to my house after trying to kill me? After everything he did to Vivian? After everything he did at the trial?Without thinking, I jerked up from the bed and started walking toward the door, ready to face him, but Derek moved in front of me and blocked my path.“Zander,” Derek said firmly, “Don’t go to him like this. You’re angry. You might do something you’ll regret.”I clenched my fists. “Get out of my way, Derek.”“No,” Lucas added, stepping beside him. “Derek’s right. If you see Ronald like this, you might kill him. And Zander…” He paused, looking me in the eyes. “You’re an Alpha, but the law is still the law. You kill a fellow werewo
