ISABELLE’S POV We take two or more steps and then I hear the sound of the door again. I think someone closed the door. “We have reached”. After saying this, the king unwraps his arm from my waist and leaves my hand. He removes the ribbon from around my eyes. It takes a minute for my eyes to adjust. When my vision clears and I look around, I find myself in a big room. This room is almost similar to the king’s room. There is a big bed against the wall in front of us and just like the king’s room, there is a balcony. There is a fireplace and couches too. It is almost the same size as the king’s room but the difference is that this room has things of a little soft color. There are two more doors here as well. “Whose room is this, my king? Why have you brought me here?” I turn towards the king and ask him confusedly. I don’t understand why he brought me here. ISABELLE’S POV I flip the page of the book with the help of my left hand. The name of the book which I am currently reading is “The tales of Ash Ville”. It is a nice book and it includes the horror stories of the town. It is a fictional book but I like it and has captured my attention. I found this in the library a few weeks back and I thought to read it. Today I saw it in the books which I had not read so I decided to read this one. Currently, I am in my room and sitting on the bed with my knees pulled to my chest. I am holding the book with my only left hand. I cannot use my right hand because the king burnt it last night with hot candle wax. The candle wax had deeply burnt my skin and I am sure the wounds will leave scars. It was very painful and I felt like my arm was in direct contact with hot blazing fire rather than hot wax. It was worse than walking on the hot sand. When he left the room last night, I fainted. ISABELLE’S POV “Do you know about the west side of the palace?” She asks me. I think about it. West side of the palace? I have never heard about it. The king has never mentioned it either. “No, I don’t know. What is there?” I ask her. “That side of the castle is locked and no one is allowed to go there. A few days back I was passing by that side so I decided to check what was in that part but a soldier stopped me. Two soldiers are always guarding the doors of that side. I told him that I am the head of the harem but he still did not let me go inside. He told me that no one is allowed to go inside because from that part there is a secret way to get out of the castle. It was used before but then it was closed upon the king’s orders. The doors are locked with three heavy locks and only the king or Walter has the keys to those locks”. Ivy tells me. “Why are you telling me about this?”. I ask her confusingly. Why is she telling me about some deserted part of the palace? “Because you

ISABELLE’S POV A put a hand on my mouth to stop myself from making any noise. So, this is the right way to get out of the maze. Now I will be able to escape. I never knew that leaving the maze would be so easy. By just following the signs of the Alsair kingdom I can get out of the maze. “Ok, I have understood”. The other person replies. “Now I am going to the king. I have to tell him about this”. Marius tells the other man. I have to leave from here before Marius finds me. If he finds me here then he will tell the king about this and there is no doubt in this that the king will believe him. I straighten up and compose myself. I hide my smile and make a normal face. If Marius sees me smiling like this then he will become suspicious so I should act normal. I come out of my hiding position. I pass Marius and the other man silently. ISABELLE’S POV I will escape from this palace tonight and I will change my miserable life into a life filled with happiness. After two and a half year, I have gotten this opportunity and I will not let anyone come between me and my freedom. The king said that it is my destiny to be with him but I will change my destiny tonight by escaping from the palace. The king will never be able to find me. I hope night comes soon. I cannot wait to be away from this palace and this life. I have waited for this moment for so long. The night came earlier than expected. When I saw the sun setting and the darkness starting to spread, I started doing what I had planned. With the help of thick cloth, I pick up the jug which is filled with water. I take it near the fire hearth and heat it with the fire. I try my best to not burn this hand because my other hand is already burnt. My second hand burning will only become a hurdle in my plans. ISABELLE’S POV I have to choose one thing between my freedom or the king. I can have my freedom and reunite with my family or I can live here and become a queen. I will have all the luxuries here. My parents will be so happy to see me. I will be in my village. I think for some time and then look towards the maze with determination. I have made my decision and I have chosen my freedom over the king. I will not sacrifice my freedom for the love I feel for the king. The determination and longing to see my family after such a long time are more than the love I have for the king inside my heart. Despite everything, I am feeling so much pain inside my heart but I have to bury this pain. I have to forget him to get my freedom. This love was not meant for me from the very beginning. I am not worthy of the king’s love. He is a king and I am a common villager. His world is different from mine. With a new determination, I enter the maze and start walking forward. ISABELLE’S POV “Yes, yes”. I quickly lie because this is the only way to get out of this alive. “Soldiers, lower down your swords. The king had ordered a few days back to let the slave go alive if she succeeds in getting out of the maze”. He tells the other soldiers and I breathe a sigh of relief. A smile appears on my face. “You can go. I have never seen any slave getting out of the maze alive in my sixty years. You are the first one to get out of the maze. You can go as per the king's orders”. He tells me and I quickly stand up. This is my chance to leave and I should be away from these soldiers as soon as possible. Suddenly I remember that I don’t have any water and I am thirsty. In fear, I had forgotten about my thirst. My throat has become as dry as a desert. “Can I get some water, please?”. I ask the soldier who seems like a good man. He nods. “Lucas, bring her some water”. He orders one of the soldiers and he goes to bring the water. “Can you tell me where am I? What i

ERIC’S POV I enter the harem and start going towards my dove’s room. Half of the day has passed so she must be awake by now. Last night, when I called her to my room, Ivy told me that she has a mild fever and that's why she cannot come. I thought about sending a physician for her but Ivy told me that Isabel said there is no need for the physician and she will be fine by morning as it is just a mild fever. I wanted to visit her last night but Ivy told me that she has slept now. I did not want to disturb her so then I decided to visit her in the morning. I hope she is fine now because if she is not then I will call the physician. Our wedding is going to be in four days and she has got a fever at such an important time. I hope it was just a mild fever as said by Belle because if she is seriously sick then I will have to delay the wedding. I don’t want to delay the wedding because of any reason.
