“Go over there, and bring some of it.” Lucinda commented and pointed at the burning hot pot of the porridge that had been set at the dining table.

Nodding my head, I stood up and started to walk toward the kitchen to grab a small bowl.

“Where do you think you are going?” Lucinda’s snap made me halt, and then turn around, “where are you running off to?”

“Bowl.” I said. Wasn’t it obvious?

She scoffed. Her fingers pulled the gum out of her mouth and put it on the freshly cleaned table that I had just spent ten minutes cleaning up.

“Use your hands.” she said, shooting me a vicious stare.

“What?”

She rolled her eyes, got up from her seat, and walked over to me. Snatching my wrist, she took a spoonful of porridge from the pot. My eyes shot to the burning hot pot. The smoke was still coming from the food.

“No, please do-” I tried to snatch my hand back but she poured the hot porridge all over my hand.

“Ah…” I cried out in pain.

My skin burnt immediately, turning bright red. Tears welled up
